As someone who is aware of Phelps' goat status but wasnt watching during his career, when this video got to the 2016 segment I thought - oh this will be so wholesome, he's turned his life around and is in a mentally great place, it'll be nice to see him win a bronze or two in a nice sendoff games. I think one of the things about phelps and biles and many other athletes like them, is just how gifted they truly are. They can be dealing with mental illness, be unmotivated, take heaps of time off, but when they get back in shape again, all of a sudden they're the best in the world like nothing happened. Even tho everyone else didn't take that time off, was more motivated or had more at stake. Truly special competitors
