Why most people never learn from their mistakes but some do all has to do with how they view failure. According to Matthew Syed’s book Black Box Thinking, “Success can only happen when we confront our mistakes, learn from our version of a black box, and create a climate where it is safe to fail.” Pulling from the aviation, medical, and other industries, Syed places a magnifying glass over how failure is viewed from industry to industry and how it has accelerated growth for some teams or industries, and how it has actually harms people in others.
