Some have criticized the Republic’s infantry tactics at Geonosis, but if you look at the movie you’ll see that few clones get hit by actual blaster bolts. Keep in mind that their weapons have greater range and better aim than most of the battle droids, hence why the clones are standing relatively still and picking their targets while the droids are constantly running forward to get their targets within closer range. I imagine the clone armor is also more effective against bolts fired from greater distances.
@BoiledBeanWater3 жыл бұрын
Phase 1 clone armor could definitely take a few hits compared to the phase 2 armor but it was also super heavy and uncomfortable, probably another reason why they were standing still like you said
@AaronDarkus3 жыл бұрын
Well, perhaps because the scenes in the movie show us moments in where barely bolts from the droids hit their targets. In general, and not just including what one can see in AOTC, it was a bloodbath, specially for commandos, who weren't specially trained to fight in the frontlines.

@@AaronDarkus While the clone losses might have seemed like a bloodbath to the troopers (I assume you’re referring to the Geonosis chapters in the novel Republic Commando: Hard Contact), really casualties of that size are to be expected in pitched battles of that size. It’s the inevitable outcome of such large numbers of soldiers engaging in quick and decisive combat rather than scattered and drawn out campaigns.

I wouldn't look to episode 2 for actual tactics. The clones were all cgi, they didn't even make any prop armor. Last scenes were filmed in 2000. Every organic asset on Geonosis that isn't completely sealed up is, at that moment, dead in a horrifying way...one that would be bound to leave a nasty wound in the force on par with Malichor V where a lot of remaining Jedi would be caught in the middle, and those fuck with the sanity of non-force users as well which would make the disaster even worse there. Any assets on the ground of Geonosis would be in CIS hands with their droids, the Jedi would have lost everyone sent in, and the Confederate forces would have a LOT of time with zero opposition, especially since that would lead straight into the Dark Reaper crisis and Tann running amok elsewhere with even more forces to utilize. I'm pretty sure that the Toth and the HEX weapons were not part of Palpatine's plans there...

My interview on “Topic Time” with Harrison Blake Young to promote my 4 books went excellent. Didn’t go into full detail with the books because they’re so extensive, didn’t want to give any of the plots away, and I often don’t feel comfortable talking about them with other people. I dressed casually to make myself more comfortable and not make myself look like a stuffed up, starch collared ass. Glad I won’t have to be working up to 65 hours or more a week like I have been the past 5 years at both Home Depot and as a machinist at Alpha Grainger. Now I can relax, have more free time, still work at the machine shop, and write more often. It’s going to be on KZbin & Easton Community Access Television sometime next week. Not sure when.

I think beings like Ventress & other dark jedi are often the casualties of the arrogant Jedi Council's failure to constructively manage young force sensitives.

Probably smart that the droids didn't deploy more. That runs the risk of losing all their built up supplies and units. They were already outnumbering the GAR at that point, and they were probably losing once the battle started rolling. So it was smarter to withdraw and survive to fight another day.

The preview image really reminded me of the first two Call of Duty game cover arts, particularly the first one. I wonder how a Call of Duty/Medal of Honor style Star Wars game would be like. Most people would probably say it would be a purely first person Jedi Knight experience, just without you possessing Jedi powers or a lightsaber. But I think it would have to have more, especially if it were to be made today. It would be something of a Republic Commando offshoot but with map/scenarios like CoD/MoH and you're not the leader, but the follower. I would still play it, even if I think the Republic Commando version would still be superior. (I still am waiting for a sequel, even if only a spiritual one)

The First Battle of Geonosis solidly displays the level of ineptitude of the Jedi Commanders and the Republic as a whole. The GAR deployed nearly 200,000 clone troops, of which 16,000 would be wounded and 100,000 were killed. 4,982 of 10,000 Commandoes also became casualties. Over 50% casualties in the very first battle of the war, due largely to the incompetence of the commanders and the absolutely criminal deployment of ineffective combat vehicles.

A MILLION B1 battle droids were deployed vs nearly 200,000 clones? I read that by the end of the Clone Wars, it’s estimated that the Droid Army had a quintillion amount of droids. It’s a wonder The Republic won, since most droids were typically designed to overwhelm the enemy with ease.

Mace fighting 3 dark Jedi! That would have been sight to see. Dooku trained them along with Palpatine/Sidious. I don't care what people say, if Windu went in that hanger against Dooku, the Count is killed or captured Windu. It seemed to me, Dooku wanted no part of Windu when they first met in the arena. Dooku had no choice but to fight Yoda and that would have been the same with Windu. To those saying Windu Vaapad wouldn't work towards or with Dooku, out of Yoda own mouth, I sense the darkside in you Dooku along with Dooku shooting lighting at Wndu.

He also mildly entertained by mace showing up like that. He most likely would have most to Dooku that day. Dooku edges him in saber combat.
