Winsor Newton is good firm paint - You can see an example of it in this video here ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5fToIGkhNN3ac0 ) You can also see which one I buy in the links in the video description. I hope that helps :)

thank you much! does making the paint firmer for the mountain itself (and snow, i'm having trouble with the mountain) show up on the canvas? I feel like i maybe putting too much liquid white, i scrape off as much excess as i can, but my scenery always looks mushy. My backgrounds look great, but my trees and mountains end up too thin.

You are a super hero!! I'm 70 and just started painting 3 weeks ago! My son wants a 'snowy mountain' painting for his birthday next week and I've been 'mixing mud' for the last 5 days!! Even though I'm using acrylics, you nailed my problem! I'm following you for life!! Thank you so much!

The paper towel tip was huge for me. One of my failed attempts was a tiger claw set of mountains. I struggle a bit with "lack of creativity". I now lay them out fine, but the "direction" to make them look unique and interesting is a bit slow in coming. Also, acrylic paint is very thin. Found out accidently that by letting the white paint sit out awhile, thickens it up to where I got the paint to break beautifully. My daughter-in-law said it looked like a photograph. High praise -- even though it was an accident lol. Thanks again. I've watched hundreds of videos, but yours is the best by far!

I am glad I found you tonight, you are the best wet on wet teacher there is. Bill A . and Bob R. were wonderful but had a lot to do in a short time and I have nothing negative to say about them. The folks in videos that get under my skin is where they zip through 120mph but say nothing about pressure, tool angles, and such like you do. They just rush through puffing themselves up and basically not doing a beginner any good at all because they ensure that the beginners will not be able to do what they are without a ton of trial and error. You are very specific on your tips and help folks through the exact areas that they are most likely having trouble with. Thank you. There are BS artists, and great artists, and great artists who are great teachers, and that is you, the great artist who is also a great teacher.

Start with a dark green, let it dry, go over 2/3 of the subject with a medium green, let it dry, mix yellow with a light green and go over the top 1/3. Use a round stiff bristle brush. Spread the bristles out and don't overload the brush. Apply the paint by tapping real lightly just letting the tips of the bristles barely touch the canvas so there are gaps and random patterns of little dots with gaps exposing the color beneath. Just noticed your comment was from 2 years ago.. lol.. oh well.. still leaving my comment.

Hey, I finally caved and bought the bob ross kit, in the note for the kit, it says not to use water and soap to clean the brushes. I have previously used the master's brush cleaner and preserver with water. Would that be okay to use on the bob ross brushes?
@WildCreates4 жыл бұрын
You should be fine with that to start. But when you bristles start to looks dry ( as in brittle ) you will need to condition the brush to keep the hair strong.
@JaykT124 жыл бұрын
@@WildCreates Thanks for the quick reply! If you can, you should make a video on conditioning brushes lol.

When i paint mountains. the paint thins out when i try to spread it. I'm not sure if it is because im loading the knife wrong, but when you do it, it spreads like butter. When i do it, it's like im smearing snot. Is there a tip for this? I've tried different paints all same result
