I think it's important to realize that he's using mouth breathing as an exercise, not to continuously do it throughout your life.

Absolutely LOVE the newly-reintegrated content! Keep it coming! Also found the book very interesting and I am re-reading it. One question on mouth-breathing: I have done two 20-minute sessions and have observed that, the more I open my mouth, the worse I feel - and I mean, literally, SICK! I feel nauseous; and I'm not sure if it's because I'm tapping into a repressed emotion/part of me, or is something purely physical that I can quickly do something about? I will keep going but it's hard to open my mouth wide enough without feeling sick. THANK YOU for being such an inspiration; been following you for over a decade now.

9:19 I’m trying these exercises and remember that I lost my ability to really fully yawn so the fact that you mentioned it as I was trying to yawn is crazy.

Yo Eliot, thank you for your new content. It's very interesting to watch and also can be transformative for many. And I have a question. What can you advise for healing social anxiety, annihilation anxiety, and in general, fear of being? I have done the bio exercises for about 1.5 years. It was helpful, but it didn't affect me deeply enough. Also studying now "Fear of Life" by Lowen, very precious. Thank you!

Mouth breathing for bioenergetics maybe, but mouth breathers definitely have more issues than those who nostril breathe.

Says who? Someone on the internet, have you ever thought of why they might be pushing out that narrative? I’m not saying it’s true or not true but I think balance is key in every situation. To much of anything is bad for you.

@@MoreThanBlocks. In orthodontics it is discovered that tongue posture, which has a lot to do with breathing, is very important in the development of width of palate and therefore the health of teeth and bite. If one has well developed palate and therefore jaw, it might benefit to incorporate everyday mouth breathing but to habitually mouth breathing is not good. All of it makes sense and there is no narrative. Mouth breathing promotes adenoid face, look it up, and I can see it everyday working with children. Mouth breathing freaked up teeth. Also it is known that nasal breathing promotes production of nitro oxide which is beneficial for oxygen circulation in your body. Nasal breathing is favorable for zone 2 training to control intensity and practiced by many top athletes. Bioenergetically mouth breathing could be great. Jaws do tense up and apparently throats, as Elliott explains. I also had that dry mouth problem and made me wonder if its OK to breath nasally and bioenergetically it seems to be more important to open the throat, stretching jaw muscles can be done breathing nasally.

I always sort of half amd half mouth breathed and nose breathed. Have a good jawline. Few years ago started trying to mew and nasal breathe exclueively. Always felt uncomfortable and built a lot of tension in my head lol. Now back to more relaxed open mouth and zero.issues and tension leaving. Really should have just trusted my body

Hi Elliot, I have a question about what bioenergetic exercise I can use to disrupt the onset of temptation or the mental aspects of temptation as we become aware of it? I recently heard the story of Saint Benedict, who resisted temptation by rolling himself into a thornbush to avoid succumbing to it. I'm curious about the bioenergetic dynamic involved in his strategy. I appreciate your insight 🙏🏽

personally from a person who’s ugly, mouth breathing looks bad from an aesthetic point of view. mouth open makes me look slow and sloppy. ever since i closed my mouth, and kept my jaw straight, shoulders back chest out, it improved my appearance. but you do have a point on health benefits

Shut your mouth and save your life by George Catlin is an excellent book. I believe that inhaling through the mouth is never good. Only if you are dying to get a breath like after an intense run or something like that.

Can you talk about Rickson Gracie’s idea of breathing? He talks about focusing on the exhale as the inhale is automatic.

That's incorrect. Mouth breathing exclusively and never nasal breathing causes not only bad breath but also dental and jaw development issues. This is from Doctor Mew. If people want to prevent bad breath, they need to brush their teeth, floss, and use mouthwash.
