Wim Hof Method Guided Breathing for Beginners (3 Rounds Slow Pace)

Wim Hof

Күн бұрын

This is a slower paced Wim Hof Method breathing exercise that starts with a 30 seconds hold building up to 90 seconds breath hold. Very suitable for beginners or anyone who prefers a more gentle guidance.
!! Don't do the breathing exercises in a swimming pool, before going underwater, beneath the shower, or piloting any vehicle. Always practice sitting or lying down in a safe environment. Tinnitus symptoms may appear as a result of pushing too forcefully during the breathing exercise. If this happens, take a step back in your future practice, it’s important to increase gradually, not forcefully !!

You’re in the right place 🙏💚 also I really recommend getting the 1 Giant Mind App and doing their meditation. They make it completely free for everyone to help the world. It changed my life so much when I was going through a lot of anxiety and depression. I was so anxious that half of my face would go numb to give you an idea. For some reason that’s how it manifested in my body but this breathing technique along with that meditation and somatic experiencing has reduced the anxiety by 80% I would say.

When my relationship ended, I felt like my world was crumbling around me. The pain was so intense that it was almost tangible, like a heavy weight pressing down on my chest. I didn't know how to cope, how to move forward, until I stumbled upon Wim Hof's breathing technique. At first, I was skeptical. How could something as simple as breathing possibly help me through this agony? But I was desperate, willing to try anything to find relief from the relentless ache in my heart. So, with nothing to lose, I gave it a shot. As I sat there, following Wim Hof's instructions, something incredible happened. With each deep breath, it was as if a wave of calm washed over me, soothing the turmoil within. For the first time since the breakup, I felt a sense of peace, however fleeting it may have been. But I didn't stop there. I made a commitment to myself to practice this breathing technique every day, no matter how painful it felt at first. And slowly, but surely, I began to notice a shift. The pain didn't disappear overnight, but it became more manageable. I could breathe a little easier, think a little clearer. What surprised me most, though, were the physical benefits. I had always heard about the mind-body connection, but I never truly understood it until now. With each inhale, I could feel tension melting away from my body, leaving me feeling lighter, more energized. But perhaps the most profound change of all was the way it helped me reconnect with myself. In the midst of heartache, it's easy to lose sight of who you are-to become defined by your pain. But through this practice, I rediscovered my inner strength, my resilience. Today, as I look back on that dark period of my life, I am filled with gratitude for the role that Wim Hof's breathing technique played in my healing journey. It wasn't a quick fix, nor was it a cure-all. But it was a tool-a lifeline-that helped me navigate the stormy seas of heartbreak and emerge stronger on the other side. And for that, I will be forever grateful.

My husband and I have been doing this method for around 4 months.. It has become part of our daily lives.. We have included it during our morning rituals..We watch this video each time...I love hearing his encouraging words.. I admit to hearing them during the day... I'll take a deep breathe, "You are doing fantastic".. ""give it all you got".. And when I need uplifting... "you are doing okay". The ten minutes to do this practice is well worth it. I have only been able to hold my breathe the full 90 seconds a few times. I was diagnosed with COPD... I did a lung test after 3 months and clearly it shows how strong my lungs have become.. ... Thank you Wim.. You have made a difference in our lives. Bless you.💙

See update in comments..❣. Wim saved my life a few months ago, I choked while eating...a super natural calm descended over me and I heard Wims calming voice telling me to let the body do what the body does, you are doing great....I sat there calmly and peacefully with no air when suddenly the food dislodged itself and went down. Today he is saving my life again...I have found myself suddenly homeless for the first time in my life, and I restarted returning to the breath...I get fearful and anxious everyday, but Wims breathwork reminds me that I am safe in this moment and there is hope. Thank you Wim, I literally owe you my life..❤

I want to persevere too, can not do it anywhere else but my ventilated room before breakfast but I've been feeling great. What works for me is staying aware of the moment I'm doing the excercise because there's been days I've done it in a hurry because I have lots of things on my mind and haven't felt as great as when I'm fully focused in my breathing. I did hold it for 45 seconds the other day and I thought my head was going to explode. So, just keep at it, do what you can, and you will be able to do a little more as you keep working on it.

@@GunnWrights Hi, I just wanted to say that, especially the very first time I did this breathing, I also hyperventilated and it was scary because I did not know that that was a normal reaction. I somehow kept going, and was able to discover the good feeling of the breath hold part, and then, for me, the hyperventilation stopped after a few more sessions. Though I have, even in childhood, seemed to have less stamina than other people, I've not been diagnosed with a breathing condition.

@@VonnieHendrex-gx8oc You know, there's another interview or recorded breathing session (can't remember which) with Wim where he really emphasizes how you absolutely should take a breath when you feel the need, that that doesn't mean anything "bad," and that trying to hang on for dear life is counterproductive. You seem to have realized that yourself, but one thing I wish about this video for beginners, is that he'd made that more clear. He does mention that "it's OK," in the second round, but I wish he'd more explicitly say, something like, "this is not about competition; take a breath whenever you need to; it won't take away from the benefits."

Thank you Wim, really, I feel so much hope for the first time in so long. edit: thank you everyone for the kind and loving words, I wish you all the same. This was the first time I've ever tried his breathing technique. I'm 41, been smoking a pack a day for 20+ years and while I had trouble keeping up with him I was so surprised I did and more surprised I held my breath as long as required. When he said what he said about feeling the blood flow through the veins, I felt that. Literally. And at that very moment. I hope I can motivate myself to do this daily. @@terefefeyssa877 Greetings! I believe in repetition and consistency. From my experience, its best to start your day with the SAVERS method by Hal Elrod. The Visualisation/Silence part can have wim hof breath work + headspace training on mindfullness. I do wim hof breathing technique twice a day. Once in the morning when I wake up and then once again after work at 6pm. You should try it regardless of results for at least a year before you judge its efficiency. Place your trust in the process blindly. I try to be consistent as I can but as we know, life gets in the way. I wish you all the best on this journey my friend!

I want all the people posting their huge turnarounds to also give themselves credit. Yes, using the Wim Hof method has helped, but remember that it was the fact that you even did it at all that was a miracle. That was all you. Congratulations for making it this far, you will continue improving, and eventually you will succeed at whatever your goal is. It's just practice. Practice being better every single day, no matter your method.

“Let the body do what the body is capable of doing.” Exactly what I needed today after overthinking, stress, and anxiety. Then I reminded myself, my body is capable of healing itself, the human body, mind, and soul are simply amazing and naturally powerful. God created us in His image, giving us all the power, all the peace, all the innate love that we just naturally have. Let the body do what the body is capable of doing. This was the first time I broke through and held my breath for the 1:30!!!! So grateful and happy and feeling infinitely better physically, mentally and spiritually 🕊 our bodies are truly amazing and we are thankful for this human experience, everything included. I’ve been practicing the WHM since finding Wim’s 40 day challenge of this breathwork plus adding 30 sec or more cold water at the end of showers, during the beginning of the pandemic. I was hooked! After 40 days a friend reached out asking if I wanted to do an ice bath on the beach facing the Gulf of Mexico, it was so beautiful, I was soul ready, I cried! I now lead workshops and do private sessions 🥶 It helped me reduce inflammation after discovering Topical Steroid withdrawal, I had to quit using steroid creams on my eczema and all hell broke loose thru my skin. I’m so thankful the WHM came to my life 9 months later. My skin and immune system has healed soul much!I am Grateful for Wim and cold plunge community around the world 🌎 💕 🥶 🙏 🧚‍♀️ 💫

This has been such a blessing for me! 20 years of SSRI use and brain fog, psychosis when I got off in Nov 2022 and a year and a half of trying other antidepressants and bezos that caused painful and even suicidal ideation toward the end. On one of my worst days, I had this thought to look up ice baths - as I had heard of them before - and went home, filled the tub with cold water and ice and painfully got in. It has been trial and error, but eventually, I just chopped a hole through the ice in my pool and went right in. Now the ice is out, I am taking cold showers and looking at getting a freezer. The WHM has been a gift from God.

@Chuck Nourrizzz at first, I felt a little off, because the feeling was new. But after a few more sessions, I felt amazing. Like euphoric and calm in the same time. I had really really bad anxiety, but this technique helped me a lot. Again, you do need to tackle your anxiety and find the root cause of it. But this is a tool to help you get there, like a walking stick if you will.

@@MysteriesTruth yep, it is a bit weird and scary at first. I had a weird tingling sensation as well. It has something to do with co2 levels and oxygen levels in the blood. Nothing to worry about, only good can come out of this, trust me. But follow the instructions as said in the video and you will be fine.

Wim, and everyone, when I wake up in the middle of the night gripped in panic, fear, rage, and the bottomless hurt underneath it, I come to this beginner's video. I cant tell you how deeply I appreciate how much this helps, when nothing else will. Thank you for this healing. After I do this I can acknowledge my own feelings and give myself the unconditional love. Thank you. I could not do it from the place of immense hurt and pain and you are showing a way out of that. I can't thank you enough and thank you to all here 💗🌈

Years ago I was living above Wilshire Boulevard near MacArthur Park. One night I woke up after 1 a.m. and I felt really upset, sensing an ominous presence all around. I looked out the window to the street below, bathed in the yellow-orange lights of the sodium-vapor bulbs. Things looked ghastly, like in a horror movie. I remembered the pranayama course I took in San Francisco and began a systematic deep breathing technique, concentrating on the sensation of air coming into and leaving the lungs. In a short time I felt enormously better, no longer feeling vulnerable in a dangerous situation. My heart rate dropped, my relaxation response kicked in and I calmly fell asleep. I am convinced that we can all benefit from learning to breathe to activate our higher levels of mental and physical health. Thank you to Wim Hof for his helpful videos and programs.

I dont know where to say this so i guess here since this is where i started doing this breathing method. I was skeptical, but also trying to get (back)in shape, I'm 41. Figured that trying anything new feels ridiculous but who cares I lose nothing by trying. At first i struggled to retain my breath for more than 35 to 40 seconds. I'd been a off and on social smoker for years although no longer. 20 some days in and I'm holding my breath for almost 3 minutes. My focus has increased. I started experimenting with the cold exposure part of this method. Cold showers now feel almost lukewarm. I live in the mountains so i can drive up to a mountain stream and swim in the what i previously thought to be icy water at length. Read alot of stuff about how Wim Hof method is virtually a placebo effect but that is in my opinion a pejorative. If learning to control your temperature, breath, heartrate, innoculate yourself to stress can be accomplished by practice and believing that you can, call it a sugar pill if you like, but I value it's utility.

3 minutes is amazing! I don’t think it is a placebo at all. I went into this breathing technique not knowing what to expect and have gotten SO many benefits. I know it definitely wasn’t mental for me. I’m just thankful i tried it because i had no clue how much it would change my life.

@Awakening1 Placebo is a clinical and negative way of saying that the power of the mind can bring about physical change in the body. Obviously I think, and there's evidence for it as well that there's more going on here than just that. But I was just trying to encourage people to try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks.

My doctor recommended this to me as a morning ritual as she said it changes the alkaline in your body and it just is a very refreshing start to the day, so I tried it today before my usual morning walk with baby in the 7am 90 degree florida weather and I wasn’t even hot today. This feels incredible. after years and years of prescription pills starting after a back/neck injury from rolling my car, I’ve spent a decade feeling trapped, anxious, helpless, addicted to everything… postpartum depression, just a lot of guilt and pain… this breathing session was somehow so natural to follow, and I was able to make it through holding my breath for the full 1.5 minutes without feeling out of breath, instead I just felt all my muscles relaxing and this sense of peace. Wow. My 9 month old yelling his new words didn’t even stop my pace. This is legitimate stuff. I’m so glad I finally tried it!
