I was a fiberglass boat builder for 20+ yrs , you got it !! , I finally built myself my own 20 foot center console , I spent nights in laying bed figuring how to make it bulletproof. You did it perfectly!!

Thank you! I was hoping that you would talk more about the unions of stringers to transom. I wasn't confident for the same reason that you mentioned about mating them wood to wood. I just wish my craftsmanship was half as good as yours! Keep making them videos! I REALLY appreciate it!

love the shop dogs. My American Bully hangs with me everywhere I go. She watches me in the shop then goes out on the jet boat with the family. you have some great ideas and should be good for the next forever

Sorry to hear about your Aussie. It’s always tough to lose a pet, especially after a 17 year run!!! We joke that Charles is part goat… He eats EVERYTHING and seems immune 😂 He is our first Aussie, and he couldn’t be more different than the Rottie’s that we are accustomed to. He is still a puppy, so we are hoping that he will mellow out some. ~ Nick

@AutoTechNick LOL! Typical puppy for sure! Yep Rawly dog was 1 of a kind. I think They can be a bit independent and tend to connect with one family member, but they are as loyal as they come! While I'm on here making this extremely long.. do you have a recommended method of measuring the wear ring to impeller clearance while out of the suction housing? Thanks for all the help Nick!!

With the wear ring and impeller out, you will only be able to measure the radial clearance. In order to get the axial clearance, you will need to assemble the pump. ~ Nick

Any plans for a transom plug? Every boat I’ve owned has have one. I suppose not having one will prevent forgetting to replace it when launched. What, no, I’ve never done that.

On my setup the hole for the plug is placed in my aluminum transom to pump cover. Therefore I do not need any provisions for the plug in the transom itself. I plan to modify my plug so I can attach it to the ignition when it is not installed. I figure that’ll make it pretty difficult to forget… 😂 ~ Nick

As cool as headers are... This is one of the rare times that I will choose convenience over raw power. This is a family boat used with young kids. By retaining a full engine cover and log manifolds, it is a hard setup to beat when my wife and kids can walk back to the swim steps without getting burnt on the headers... I know its not as cool, but I also don't have to do triage treatments for burns on the lake. ~ Nick

Never, ever use wood for your stringers, use Coosa board, it will never rot. Stronger, better and cuts like wood.

Coosa, indeed is a great product. However, because it comes in limited sizes, its difficulty to source (depending on one's location) and price prevent it from being the "ultimate" choice for repairs. A good quality wood is still a good alternative for these repairs.
