im portuguese i have been in london, camdon town etc and only 1 person as to pay like if there is 5 people in the same car only the car user will pay the fee, is not to make it impossible but pedestrian friendly only recomended in heavy populated cities since it become a problem without proper actions to micro manage the city health each time you enter with your own veichle you pay a fee, makes the city more bike friendly, bus drivers and ubers probably cheap but you will spend money anyway to move long distances unless you live there it has pros n cons but if you are poor forget or think wisely with metros etc in america you will become homeless much faster if you do poor choices. This could work in Lisbon or Porto but portuguese people are too poor to pay the same amount as a day of work each time they go to Lisbon, we lack proper contructions and connections from train stations along the country plus lack of connections between cities and villages along the country and overpriced in smaller areas... they lack good corpo management even if they call them selfs specialist and have some knowledge how it works and we have corruption, we don´t trust our politics

based take about the "What about the worker" bs. Workers will go where there are jobs. Jobs are a matter of supply and demand. Newflash: you enjoy the technological advances of the past milennia due to certain jobs either morphing or becoming defunct. The workers either go elsewhere, adapt their skillset or in the worst case, proportionately least likely scenario, just curl up and die because they literally can't do anything else to provide for themselves or their families. This is how societies evolve.

So America the richest country best economically developed country cant fund public transport therefore they will charge car drivers to do so,but no such issues exist in China or Russia,have you seen Russian metro's? Russia has the lowest tax rate in the world and they dont charge car drivers either to built it,in any Russian city public transport is faster and cheaper,you basically dont need a car,ordering food home is faster and cheaper than driving,Russia has fully developed public transport from buses,minivans privately owned,metro,highspeed trains to drive from city to city,isn't Russian GDP lower than California,but in California public transport is only for the homeless and druggies,you wont see that shit in Russia,where does US GDP come from then? if they cant even do basic shit like clean buses that drive by every 10~minutes. Oh wait,all US GDP is based on things that are free in Russia or China. Education,healthcare.American tax is basically 50% total-that's how much an American gives away from their salary to get what? only roads? In Russia the average tax is 8%,self-employed get 4%(basically streamers in Russia pay 4% from their salary),business 13%.How a poor country overrun by corruption have the best metro/public transport in the world but California cant even have clean streets?
@aydellik Жыл бұрын
I understand what you're saying, but YOU have to understand that this is a STATE law/regulation. So blaming all of the USA for a single state's issues is a bit far out. NY isn't even a good place to live in prior this change. Russia also has low income tax because they are communists. It's not that the USA can't afford public transportation, it's the reason of making it public to a place that has a population of over 8 million people (NYC) and expecting it to be treated, used, and paid for like Norway. While also having a good portion of that 8 million being: homeless, druggies, criminals, etc... Its just not safe to want to take public transportation unless you NEED to. So why rely on public transportation when you can own a car, bike, motor cycle, skateboard, or scooter which can be defined as private in some way. Also, USA's tax rate is NOT 50% not sure where you heard that from. It depends on the state you live in. Naming different state but not realizing that the tax rate, pay, what happens in the streets, building being built, some laws that are made, and so much more... is all separated PER STATE shows how little you don't know about the USA. The states that struggle the most either have extremely high population, or the state senator that was elected was a poor choice, usually falls on the democrat side of things. Left side usually chooses personal needs and equity over basic necessities and having better roads, building, school, protection for everyone. The amount of equity in California is stupid. Don't blame all of the USA for one state's law/change. Edit: Also, the main cause of this is because of democracy. Which 90% of the USA loves, and the people that partake in said democracies, usually just don't know how to/who to vote for. Thus creating capitalisms.
@GreatRusio Жыл бұрын
I can already tell your political leanings by giving Russia as the primary example as compared to cities in Europe, Japan, Australia and etc... What makes American transportation so hard to solve is the fact these cities were flawed in their design to begin with and solving that will take an immense effort that isnt just throwing money at it I like Russia and China regardless of all the disgusting things their states do, and my disdain for communists (neither are atm idk what the above guy is yappin about) but if we were to honestly compare them to actual good countries they look like genuine shit holes
