I'm 75, male, straight, and a War Vet and so identify with Nimona's story. I so love this movie and Nimona. Nimona, the movie that would not die.

Thank you for Immortalizing some of the comments heres my thoughts on Nimona: As a generally Misunderstood Non Binary 20 year old Nimona made me feel Understood the shapeshifting can be a symbol of gender and identity and how it chsnged often and not expressing it feels like the second right before a sneeze when hiding who you really are, and the scene were shes about to end it all, and the only one to stop her was Ballister It made me cry and feel seen as someone misunderstood by my family, My Own Community the ones ive moved away from to be in a place more understanding or meet more understanding people at least, Me moving here last year was a good thing it was my Ballister stopping Nimona, I feel seen and understood and loved for who i am and how im different.

I LOVE the "second right before you sneeze" line! It's so simple but it's such a universally understandable comparison. I'm sorry to hear not everyone has been able to understand or accept you (I'm sure there's a lot of people like you who can relate to how you feel) but it's good to know that you've found somewhere you can be yourself. Like I said in the video, I tried not to make any explicit parallels to experiences I don't have but from the bottom of my heart, I hope you stay happy and stay yourself!

Thank you. It's a really emotional movie and I wanted to capture that a bit more than what I normally do in my videos. Hopefully that came across.

Headcannon: Nimona is a therian. What therian wouldn’t want to shape shift into animals.

That is actually rather cool to have a gay pride story in a futuristic medieval story!

If you appreciated the movie I suggest going back and looking at it with an eye for symbolism. They do a lot with color theory and symbolism through shapes ie the different shapes in the twinkle in their eyes. Keep in mind this movie was in production for years and any Studio that's going to take the time to pay that attention to detail it is not going to stop there. There are a lot of parallels between the forms she takes and body image and a lot of similarities to DID probably as a result of her being an amalgamation of the experiences of many members of the studio. And if you've looked into the history of its production you can look at the closing few scenes as a meta allegory for the movie itself

Uh.... only hinted at? Really? It was *SO* obvious from the very beginning of the movie without ever a moment of doubt, they may as well have been singing "We're gaaa-aaay!". Except that would have been tacky, and they simply treated it like having a gay couple starring in your movie is normal. Which it should be. OK, back to watching the video....

To be fair, it is technically only implied for most of the movie that they're a couple (albeit very heavily.) It may be easy to notice but the audience is still expected to pick up on it without being explicitly told. If the filmmakers wanted, the movie could have had Ballister and Ambrosius kiss in their very first scene but it didn't because it was saving that explicit confirmation for the moment where it would be the most satisfying for the story. With that said, I agree that having gay characters that are treated as normal is something more movies should strive for. And I am grateful that you continued watching even after you found something you disagreed with. I hope you still liked the video!

To be fair he’s straight(the KZbin guy)lol But yeah I seen they were gay as soon as they were alone together too, as a Pan Emby it wasn’t that hard to spot lol.✨

@@kitsulittle_boii I wanna make it clear, I never said I didn't pick up on the hints that they were gay. I knew from the opening scene what the movie was doing. The point I was making was that it is only implied for most of the movie rather than being made explicit. "Implied" doesn't necessarily mean "difficult to notice." Although I have to say that this was one of my favourite points to write about in my script so I'm glad to see it get so much attention!
