InnerRise smash is terrible online, it’s laggy as hell, which pissed me off as I bought Nintendo online specifically for it. Trading smash in for RE2 on PS4 anyway.

Ant Ryan I wouldn’t say that, now if you’re looking for a 1 on 1 match it handles decently well, no lag spikes but decent, 3 player smash all depends on the region, and if you’re looking for a 4 player smash you’ll never get a good match, you would have to go to Asia to get such high definition of quality.

Online doesn't matter in the long run. Since the servers will be shutdown eventually when the support for them is gone. Offline singleplayer is all that truly matters.

It's not an issue of quality it's an issue if the fact dust and other particles are causing it. Just clean a bit under the rubber bit of the joycon, the drift will disappear almost instantly

The video doesn’t touch on one of the biggest reasons: Nintendo games are evergreen. They sell well for years after release. Most other games do the majority of their sales during the first few weeks and months after release. After that, sales fall off a cliff. Discounts are used to sell additional units.

not to mention that classic mini systems with classic nintendo games sell very well and there is demand, i own a snes mini and i love it. virtual console is a needed feature, people buy nintendo systems for it. for newer games, people say they would buy a wii u game for the 2nd time if it released on the switch, eg. dkc: tropical freeze, captain toad and other games that are/will be ported. nintendo just makes quality games that age well

Exactly. Mario kart 8 stays relevant until Mario Kart 9 comes out. Gears of Battlefield Duty 17: Siege Warfare III stays relevant until Battle of Call of Dutyfield - Reloaded Warfare Modernly 8 Comes out next week The graphics style always ages well, too. Games that shoot for the most "realistic" or "gritty" look at the time always end up looking like pewp a few years later

Quantum Witcher probably because that’s what Nintendo is known for. A majority of people’s last Nintendo console was the Wii. And while the flopping Wii U had a disk, the only popular Nintendo console with disks were the Wii and the Game Cube. They held out on switching to disks back in the day, they kept using cartridges with their DS line of systems, and now they are back on cartridges for the Switch. Nintendo just isn’t known for using disks like Sony and Microsoft are on their consoles. Those companies have never used cartridges (unless you want to count floppy disks for early PCs with Microsoft). It’s far more relevant to talk about cartridges with Nintendo than it is to talk about disks.

@@willscorner8423 they are not really. EA games are microtransaction filled games with shitty design and recycled gameplay with really small changes to spice up the gameplay a bit. Nintendo offers a bit more of diversity between their main line games (Super Mario Odyssey is a extremely well done and fun game) and has decided to swap their IPs to have a new look (Zelda BOTW being the biggest, most outstanding example) Only times they have done stuff like EA were the NEW! Series of Mario games. Which are known as being one of Nintendo's biggest fails, but they corrected it and came with better games along the way.

Bored scientist For BOTW you got Cemu, and for Mario Odyssey you got Yuzu. Switch emulation is still in its infancy but it can run Mario Odyssey at a playable rate. It’s only got mario odyssey rn tho so until they can get a perfect smash emulation then the switch emulation scene is non existent to me right now.

Uhm...this looks a bit like a Nintendo commercial. While there is certainly some truth in it, there's more. Sure, Nintendo first party games have a strong quality policy, but you didn't touch another important aspect: collectability. As a collector, I can tell you that Nintendo games are some of the most collected overall. People love having a Zelda collection or a Mario collection, purely for nostalgia factor. Which explains why their games are such long sellers. Even today, people are fighting online to grab an original copy of Metroid or Pokemon Blue on Ebay, despite those games being playable digitally. Which also means, buying a Nintendo game ensures you are very likely to get something that will retain its price in the future or even get more valuable. Same thing can be said for exclusive games on other platforms as well, but only when they were produced in small quantities. For example, a copy of Suikoden for PS1 may cost you a bit because it's a exclusive game, that didn't sell huge numbers and it's an RPG, a genre that it's highly sought after by collectors and retrogamers because it ages pretty well compared to other genres and it's still very playable years atfer it came out. What's extraordinary about Zelda and Mario games is that they keep their price despite being largely mass produced, due to the very high demand elicited by the name itself. It should be noted, tho, that even some Nintendo first party game occasionally have poor critics, and whenever it happens, the game struggles to keep its value despite being a Nintendo game. Pokemon White 2 and Black 2 come to mind.

I was too, but there doesn't seem to be much of them at retail right now. The selects normally focus on the early games of a consoles life to be resold near the end of the console's life, so the Wii U season of selects have passed and the 3DS season of selects has mostly passed as well. It will probably be another three or four years before we even see Mario Kart 8 DX or Mario Odyssey on the selects lineup. BOTW could get a select earlier than that on the Wii U, but I doubt retailers are willing to get more Wii U games this late.

Yeah, they know their fans will buy the newest Zelda or Mario game at full-price, but it just feels insulting when you find Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze on the Switch for a full $60 when that game came out back in 2014 on the Wii U. Even Pokemon games aren't safe. If you want to buy a digital copy of Pokemon X or Y, time to fork out the full retail price of $40. And that game came out seven years ago. Maybe Nintendo needs to reevaluate themselves and understand that making an old Nintendo-developed game cheaper isn't going to devalue it. Look at the examples of Sony and Microsoft. They discount their hits sometimes less than half of the original MSRP and rake in tons of cash. Also, I would like to add that the cost of the Switch game carts is total bullshit. They're basically proprietary SD cards Nintendo made just so they CAN make them expensive. They could of just used an encrypted SD card as their format to save money, but they want to squeeze out every penny they can from both the publishers and the customers. tl;dr Nintendo is greedy with their own brand and it's gross.

5thlvl For me is because of the rarity both consoles are reaching. Games, toys and movies that were discontinued for years or given away at select events tend to rise in price really quickly. With the Wii U now resting on it's grave as we speak, the console will rise, and rise, and rise to a point that you'll wish you bought one the day of release or mourn the day you sold it for the 300 dollar tag it had, same case with it's games, since the console is now currently discontinued, the games it has to offer, although lacking but amazing are gonna get more expensive in the physical area... Digitally, it'll stay the same. It's almost the same with the Wii to clear things up.

The really old Nintendo games in particular retain their value because people simply do not resell them as much once they are done with them, they are kept as collectibles, and therefore there's less supply of second hand games than usual. Also take in account that Nintendd rarely devalues their generational releases with sequels, you WILL NOT find a single Nintendo series that had more than 2 entrie son a single generation, and even 2 entries is rare on itself (on the top of my head I can only think Pikmin 1 & 2, Metroid prime 1 & 2, and Mario Galaxy 1 & 2), only exceptions to the rure are Pokemon games and VERY RECENTLY fire emblem games, which have churned out more than 2 entries per gen. What does that mean? That nearly any mainline Nintendo game is THE game to get on a given nintendo console, meaning, they retain their value as a prized item in videogame history, and everytime a person buy a nintendo console, they have the very simple choice to buy the one game of the franchise they like on said console.

I understand why they don't drop their prices but for someone in Australia, it's so frustrating as the conversion rates mean their games will sell for $80 to $90 with little to no discount. This means buying multiple games is simply not an option for many people since the games cost a quarter of what a second hand switch console itself sells for. I'm still a nintendo loyalist (despite being frustrated with many of their recent decisions such as with the nintendo online service) but I'm still sad that the prices means that I simply can't access a lot of their games.

My whole life being a Nintendo fan I never lived with glitches and bugs the same way I do now. Glitches and bugs were things you have to look for in Nintendo game. Xbox and PS4 or PC have glitches being a part of life. They literally just make the most quality games.

@@MHChrono Missed it? Both are still widely available to purchase. Considering Nintendo is keeping the 3DS alive(for now), don't count a port any time soon or at all, really. A whole new Bravely game on the Switch is much more likely.

@@EumelaninKnight Missed it, as in, I never bought a 3DS. And Monster Hunter Gen U is on Switch, so why not a Bravely, or a 1 and 2 combo re-release for Switch? It wouldn't be the first 3DS game to come to Switch... Honestly, it could be a selling point for them to release older titles from other systems, the other consoles of this era are pretty crap at backward compatibility.

The whole "Nintendo always makes quality games" thing is a little amusing to me... Don't get me wrong, they've been making really good games for a long time but to act like EVERYTHING they make is worth full price is kinda pushing it. Let's not forget about games like Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Mario Party 10, Kirby Star Allies... I could go on but you get the point.

Um Threonly one of those that isn’t worth the full price is Mario tennis ultra smash and that’s because it didn’t have any thought pit into it they clearly only made that to try to sell Wii U consoles because it’s a mario game paper Mario color splash may not be as good as thousand year door but on its own it’s really good and Kirby was very clearly made with the intent to be a great game and it was you knew exactly what you were getting with star allies and fun Kirby game that brings back some old ideas and the friend ability it was worth a full price even if it wasn’t as deserving of it as other games it deserve that full price

That's fine if you think those games were worth full price but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of people were disappointed by them, myself included. I just don't think it's fair to act like all Nintendo games are worth full price when clearly, some are and some really aren't, unless you're a diehard Nintendo fan and think they never make a bad game. You may have enjoyed KSA but do you think most people would put it on the same level as Mario Odyssey or Botw? Also I didn't even mention stuff like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, Star Fox Zero, Metroid Federation Force... It just shows that Nintendo isn't immune from making mediocre games.

No I haven't played Federation Force and maybe that particular game wasn't the best example but I have played Nintendo games that didn't seem worth full price and others shared the same feeling as well. I guess a lot of it comes down to personal taste but I just don't see Nintendo as being significantly better than anyone else when it comes to games. I say this as someone who grew up on Nintendo and on other platforms too.

Buying physical games used private-party is the way to go. True that the games hold their value in the brick-and-mortar after-market, but your every-day home sellers don't always price competitively. Facebook, Craigslist, Letgo, Offerup, and even eBay all have occasional good deals if you are willing to wait a few months before getting them. Without putting in much effort, I bought Mario Kart and Zelda BOTW because I found good deals about six months after release for 50% price. I don't need to play a bunch of games at a time, so taking it slow works well for me.

Jason Simone Yeah, I once saw XC2 on Kijiji for $50. That is $30 less than a copy found in retail and no tax is involved. A pretty good find if you ask me. If you're really lucky, you can find some games prices 50% less or a bundle of games sold for less.

It's not really a "mindless attachment", it's justified consumer confidence. If throughout your childhood and young adulthood you've been playing and enjoying games from decade-spanning franchises, it's reasonable to expect they'll be worth the (admittedly high) prices.

It just wasn't what I expected or wanted at the time. There's a reason why I can, without hesitation, drop full-price on the latest Legend of Zelda game and won't on the latest Final Fantasy anymore.

Apple doesn't innovate at all, they do the exact opposite, taking away features and calling it innovation. You can spout off about gimmicks all you want with nintendo, but they consistently innovate their consoles. Gameboy, it was amazing, portable, awesome games, gameboy advance, still one of my favorite handhelds because the games were so good and looked awesome, DS, super innovative, dual screens opened up a fuckton of different types of games, the touch screen and stylus as well. Then onto the 3DS, it was the DS, but with 3D, and a Joystick-type thing rather than just a d-pad. It made even more choices for video games. NES to SNES, insanely better graphics, SNES to N64, holy shit them graphics, and the true first 3D games, N64 to Gamecube, a huge leap forward in graphics and compactness that literally let you take it in the car with you to play video games on, and it brought us games that looked like Windwaker (my god). Gamecube to Wii, basically the same hardware but MOTION CONTROLS, and say what you will about the jankiness of the motion controls, that console sold so well, and they did so well with making games for the motion controls, that they're still in consoles today (and not just nintendo ones). Wii to WiiU, basically just a Wii 2, but they added the tablet in. The tablet was amazing actually, it was super convenient when you wanted to play games but someone was watching tv and it opened up a lot of fun types of games. WiiU to Switch, perfecting the image of what they wanted for the WiiU, a true portable console that could play AAA games. It's pretty much my favorite console at this point. A few more hit games, and it'll secure it. Now we have iPhone, 6-7, take away the audio jack, 7-8/10, more screen, but take away the home button, 10-10x (or something), pretty much just the same exact fucking phone, yet still asking people to pay $1000 for it. The video hit the nail right on the head, Nintendo is to video games and consoles, as Disney is to movies.
