This is a review video of a Speedrite electric fence charger, a Speedrite 12000i. There's plenty of good and not so good things about this brand and model. My overall rating of this brand from a repair, build quality, overall cost, and long term reliability is 7 out of 10.
There are plenty of brands out there, some are great, some are decent and ok, and some are not very good at all.

Can the expxy be removed and add a gasket around the cover?

The epoxy is holding the board in place. If you remove the epoxy, there board would be freely moving around with nothing to hold it in place. I guess you could put double-sided foam tape or something on the backside to help hold the board in place. On putting a gasket around the case, maybe duct tape or gorilla tape around the seam. If a person decided to put silicone or some sort of caulking around the seam or where the two halves were butt up together, it'll be a real nightmare to get the unit a part to do any sort of work on it. These are just a bad design on how they're put together. I've talked to a few customers over the phone recently with faulty units that are well within the 3 year warranty. So they're just prone to failure.

Really like your channel. I currently have a stafix x6, but need to upgrade to a bigger charger. Debating between stafix/speedrite or a cyclops. But i think you just made up my mind. The remote sure would be handy though. What is your preferred brand for durability?

Hi Kevin, I'd look at the Gallagher brand or Cyclops myself for long term reliability. If you want that remote function, Gallagher makes some models with the remote/fault finder function. You don't have to have the remote to use the unit, but it's definitely handy. The Gallagher brand overall it's better than the Cyclops, but Cyclops aren't bad by any means either. You get a longer warranty right out of the box with the Gallagher brand at 3 years. Cyclops are a little cheaper in price, but only carry a 1 year warranty right out of the box. So it's a give and take between price, long term investment in reliability, warranty for repairs that might come up,c and whether your want to have the remote function. You could always buy a Gallagher unit now and get a remote for it down the line. I don't sell anything, I just work on these things and see what's good and bad as they come through. I hardly ever see any of the new Gallagher units come through, especially those i-Series made by Gallagher. The only time they ever come in is when lightning or a power surge hits them, they never come in for repair for a fault of their own doing, they're real reliable. Here's a place that sells them you could look at. When you click on a particular unit on this Gallagher site, Gallagher gives you both single wire clean fence and typical multi wire fence with some shorts on it. Which is nice because most brands only give you single wire best case scenario ratings.
