Lived in GCC for 40 years and all countries in GCC are brilliant. I am from England and my first posting was Bahrain in 1989. First time I went to the UAE they had only just finished paving the Airport. I love Oman but ultimately since 2018 Saudi standard of living for expats is maybe the best in the world next to Abu Dhabi.. The UAE Dubai and then Bahrain and Saudi are hard on families as there is to much temptation for women and men. There are singles who are successful everywhere and there's always a party going on. Oman is toned down and therefore much better for families.
Like how you marry turks, Persian, slavic women to whiten your beautiful brown skin

Welcome to Oman guys! as a local Omani I am really happy that people are starting to discover Oman , We don't have the numbers of tourists that visit Saudi or the UAE or even Qatar , we are a bit under the radar. But Oman and the government are really pushing forward to show the world what its really like over here , because we do believe that we could benefit economically a lot by investing in tourism. Lots of huge projects are being planned for the future , we hope to see anyone who visits us once comes again for another joyful times. Thanks for sharing our little big hidden gem country to the world :).

As an Aussie I lived and worked in Sinbads home town of Sohar for 12 months its a beautiful country, full of history and the people are probably some of the most welcoming I have ever met. Loved Muscat, Niswa, Sohar, the mountains, the historic forts, the mosques, the food , the spices and the beaches are also amazing. The heat can be challenging in summer but thats no different from parts of Australia. The biggest risk I ever faced in Oman was the threat of being invited into the home of friendly locals and offered coffee and dates - the problem was that I didnt like coffee or dates. Honking your horn is frowned upon but actually abusing another driver can be a whole lot more serious and you may find yourself being visted by the ROP (Royal Omani Police). Mountain Dew was often called Omani Champagne by the locals they absolutely loved it - if you ever get a chance to visit Oman you should jump at it.

My wife told me about Oman but I didn't think much about it as we've been to several ME countries (UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan). This video shows why it's different. However, it may not work for everyone. There are different types of travelers. Some will love the luxury and modernity of Dubai & Qatar while others love the rugged exploratory nature of Wadi Rum & the Pyramids. My wife and I love it all, but wherever we go, we always need the comfort of a proper hotel (hostels don't cut it). Looking forward to experiencing Oman on our next next trip to the Middle East. Edit: We were also inspired by Aladdin and stories from 1001 Nights (aka Arabian Nights)

The Wahiba Sands with the only wild Arabian Orix, the Rub al Khali the largest expanse of desert in the world with red sand dunes as high as sky scrapers, but for me the best is Dhofar. It has monsoon rains every summer. Wadi Darbat and Khor Rori are my favourite places on Earth.

The seashores, the islands, the mountains, the plains, the sandy desert, the valley, the falaj, pure crazy nature, an Arab cultural heritage that has not, has not, and will not be marred by globalization and modernity, the enemy of man and the advancement of the idea. Thank you for another nice video, Joe and Liisu. A friendly reminder: Middle East is a propaganda term coined in the 19th century by a random barbarian colonialist in a colonial empire for their colonies in the Indian subcontinent. Then, in the 20th century, they somehow started using this term for another random set of countries. This term, which I normally even refuse to pronounce, has zero validity in geography, science, culture, politics etc. In the last few decades, through their media, they have been running smear campaigns on this concept that they call the Middle East and have been trying to indoctrinate us to associate this fabricated concept with wars, terror, backwardness etc. This is their way of manufacturing consent to run invasions, commit genocides, create unlawful domination and steal resources. I believe we all should refrain from using such colonial propaganda terms. (I am definitely sure you guys are not using this term for the same purpose.) I enjoy watching your trips. Cheers!
