In the final interview after his win, Wolfey explained that, he entered this regional to try perish team one last time before the restricted pokemons are back. He said that once the restricted are back, he said this type of team is impossible to win with. He said that once Generation 10 comes out, there might be new pokemon that would hard counter the perish trap. So he said that this maybe his final perish trap for a long while so he entered this regionals just for this.

It's all Urshifu's fault
@erwindavid2859Ай бұрын
@exgardevior Yeah exactly. All of his pokemon has protect to stall perish turns. But those protect is nothing to Urshifu. 😂 Also a strong ghost type like Fluttermane would be an obstacle.
@thedoomdragon2895Ай бұрын
Tbf there already is a Pokémon that hard counters perish, it’s Gholdengo
@akshayreddy4071Ай бұрын
@thedoomdragon2895 I'm convinced this and grass mons are why he ran duo weather ball, he has encore, a rain mode, and fire coverage in an opposing teams sun mode to send gold packing

Wolfe is GOATed at getting a disadvantageous board state back to neutral. It's always the thing i notice most when he runs his perish teams

Wolfey playstyle of defense and repositioning and patience is so good with perish trap that’s how he won worlds with counterattack
@TheEnasalinАй бұрын
The craziest thing is that hes also great at aggressive play, like with galarian moltres in sword/shield for example
@ricardoribeiro6861Ай бұрын
@@TheEnasalinWolfey himself told multiple times, he’s favorite way to play is Perish Trap, and shown us that multiple times that he is a monster with perish trap

Colin is actually spot on. Wolfe said on the Cybertron+Markus podcast that he started making this perish team a long time ago, and he decided to go to Toronto because he had this team that worked well
@CoffeeSipper555Ай бұрын
The team itself is just Genius level, it has so many options and the player ability to mitigate the weaknesses is insane, i often can't comprehend how he turns the table, he just understands what actually matters to win the game on a macro and micro level better then most.

I've been saying that for years, Jumpluff has the potential to be a top tier pokemon but my friends always laughed it off
@RoninofCrimsonMapleАй бұрын
People are too obsessed with prankster support mons. But Jumpluff still has such great role compression. Def underrated nowadays despite the menace it was back then.
@KHfanzАй бұрын
@@RoninofCrimsonMaplepeople really undervalue how being really fast is about on par with prankster, especially since prankster doesn’t work on dark types.

Great Job last weekend. Edit: This team is very similar to a team he made in his "draft and tournament" stream he did a month ago with all his friends. So he's been cooking this idea up for at least a month
@joshuazhong2520Ай бұрын
Yeah, I noticed he said in an interview he had been working on it since October, which is around when the auction tournament was
@PeterCaptainObviousАй бұрын
And I noticed as well in previous vids his best way to deal with Polygon 2 is to have his support's stats in such a way that he forces them to download attack rather than spa. And that's what happened every time this set

Never seen this channel before. was this you guys watching it for the first time? Fun watching it back. Also i wish Pokemon Company would promote their players. They have like the Tom Brady of VGC. GOAT level consistency while also being a pretty great representative of the game. Well spoken, good looking, super inclusive and family friendly vibe.
@Cyan-7474Ай бұрын
Genuinely is there any good arguement against Wolfe being the GOAT at this point? I know there is the obvious 3 WC Ray Rizzo but with how long ago/how much more the game has developed since then doesnt that lose some weight? That coupled with Wolfe being a top 1-10 player the entiire time w 10 regionals seems like hes solidly locked up the goat debate, no?
@camelnotllamaАй бұрын
I'd argue he is, especially considering how volatile the worlds format is making small mistakes or bad matchups cost you the tournament, he also is consistently the best teambuilder seen in vgc creating entire meta games to counter his teams, truly the world champ difference.
@Cyan-7474Ай бұрын
@camelnotllama yea teambuilding is a good point!

Well and look at the team I wouldn't exactly call it a perish trap team right it's a rain trick room team you could of played those exact mons and done pretty well with out perish some sleeper picks right but wolf saw them as good line ups against the current meta and like the toad might only be there cause water synergy and perish but everything else is there to play a solid strategy and then the annoyance and shock of perish being available at any time
@solitare460227 күн бұрын
Well, yeah. It's not a hard Perish Trap team. Wolfey likes to have a bunch of different modes in his teams for flexibility. One of the problems facing it is that there's always a Perish Trap axe hanging over your neck.
