How times have changed. He talks about needing to build thousands of robots to collect training data, but now most of the robot training is done using software in virtual worlds. Ironically some of the robot manufacturers are using OpenAI's APIs for giving their bots the ability to understand and respond to verbal commands.

Illya got my respect for bringong up the topic that this generation needs. Academia needs more Engineers like Iklya; Govt need to invest in academia: Stem programs, Math and sciences in elementary, highschool and college. The lack of Engineers in the world it's sad.

The emergence of robotics is essentially an economic question. Do robots inhance production output? Does the cost of utility of robots within production reduce the cost if production? Finally how robust is the robot in terms of its replacement frequency? The best study to establish all three of these economic viability questions is the motor vehicle manufacturing industry. Observing the massive uptake of basic robotics within that industry the conclusion must be that the use of robotics does improve production output and importantly the overall quality of build, as well as reducing the unit cost of output. Robots don't require breaks other than maintenance; don't demand higher wages; don't demand better working conditions; never call in ill. Therefore the is massive potential for robotics to replace all tasks that are currently preformed by human labour which entails high levels of strenious work that leads to human fatigue or breakdown of focus. Such utility robots do not necessary need to mirror human form (humanlike robotics) to be highly efficient.

I mean Ilya literally attempted a coup against Altman because he thought the company had lost sight of its core mission by becoming too focused on for-profit development. There are many powerful people who are corrupted by money, Ilya is not one of them. I fundamentally disagree with him on some of his other stances, especially his almost spiritual approach to AGI. And I even think that it can become just as dangerous as a profit-focused AGI mission since we definitely do not need another religion in the world. But insinuating that he is another money-hungry capitalist shows that you haven't listened a lot to him and really don't understand who he is.

I believe we are meant to be like Jesus in our hearts and not in our flesh. But be careful of AI, for it is just our flesh and that is it. It knows only things of the flesh (our fleshly desires) and cannot comprehend things of the spirit such as peace of heart (which comes from obeying God's Word). Whereas we are a spirit and we have a soul but live in the body (in the flesh). When you go to bed it is your flesh that sleeps but your spirit never sleeps (otherwise you have died physically) that is why you have dreams.
