I went to a private school myself and found the pressure of having to keep up beyond what's expected of you was too much. I then decided to homeschool and because of my personality and way of working it completely changed how I learnt.

With Esme and her maths, I had the EXACT same problem, I don’t have dislexia but I found that one to one tuition with a maths tutor on my road, it really helped me feel like it’s ok to ask for help, I felt embarrassed to raise my hand and say “I don’t understand” when everyone else understood it so I never bothered asking for help. My personal tutor really helped me and thanks to her I passed my maths at my attempt after my GCSE

I wish that I had been homeschooled as a child, because I was bullied so much during my high school years.... and it got to the point where I just wanted to die and I also used to make myself sick after I ate....and I also used to not allow myself to eat or drink anything that had more than 60 calories in it. But I chose to drop out and then go back and get my GED, and I am really happy that I didn’t give my bullies the satisfaction of ending my life because I knew that they would not feel any remorse. I’m in a much better place in my life now and I’m a stronger person now because of it.

I firmly believe that homeschooling can provide a much deeper learning experience. With all the experiences you all have with visiting and learning about different cultures, you are definitely expanding your knowledge. Anyone that has a problem with it is most likely jealous or has nothing better to do than knit-pic everything. They probably live miserable lives lol. You all do what YOU think is best for your family. Haters are always gonna hate.

Sarah, my son has dyslexia.. you can try this to see if it helps her.. get a see through color plastic sheet (variety of colors available usually blue, red and yellow help) if on tablet or computer adjust the color (invert the colors) this may help her.. this stops the letters and numbers from blurring/moving ect that is common with dyslexia.

Well done Sarah, I'm grateful you told your followers that you are home schooling. My daughter has just started home schooling my eldest grandson who is almost 5. He learns at his own pace and has always asked so many questions, he's asking about other countries and what words are in those languages. He's building his confidence and hopefully he can go to a forest school near us a couple of times a week when the lockdown/pandemic is better. Good luck and continued success with the girls schooling. They can learn so much while travelling. Best wishes to you all, Linda xx

I thrived with home school and finished high school early. Those were the days with no computers and no cell phones. I had to mail in my assignments for grades and I took exams at a teachers house on the weekends. 😂 I didn't enjoy attending school one bit. Kudos to all of you that set a schedule, organize and plan out the year for home school. It takes discipline but is so incredibly rewarding. ❤️🇨🇦

Your girls are so lucky they get to experience home school because I feel like it really helps some children to be who they are without any thoughts about other people's opinions or anything. It is your choice as you guys are the parents and you know your children best. As someone who has watched since the beginning, I can see a change in the girls and can see they are so much more open and happy which as a fan it makes me happy. My sister, mum and nan are all dyslexic and my mum paid for my sister to be tested privately and it helped her massively and its never held her back and I would suggest that this is better than having it tested normally as that is a slow ans long process. If you are looking further for home schooling mums then this gathered nest/ Angela Braniff home schools 5 of her children and they year round home schoolers and have educated me massively xxx

Hi, my 12 year old has dyslexia. We were told in primary school when he was in year 5 that it looked like he had it. He has always struggled with maths, and his reading isn't at the level he should be, he did finally get diagnosed with Dyslexia in year 6. But the school didn't really do anything to help him. He is now in year 8 and getting on alot better, even though he missed half of year 7. But things you were saying with esme as in easily gets distracted etc, My boy was the same, short concentration span. Always very anxious that he wouldnt be able to do the work before it was assigned. But like you say its nothing to be embarrassed about. My son is a perfectly great boy, who just needs a little more help to understand certain subjects. I keep hearing he is behind for his year, but i think he is meant to be where he is meant to be. He will do it at his own pace and learn at his own rate. X

libby saunders it’s rude calling it a dumb mistake, it’s their decision and you have to respect that. just because it’s your opinion doesn’t mean you have to call them out. they’re doing what’s right for their children which is the best thing. my friend has been home/ online schooled since year 4 and they are now in year 13! they did amazingly in their gcses. isabelle doesn’t ‘need’ to go to college, she can do what her and her family wants to. it’s so rude and controlling for you to say that, it’s not your life so stay out of theirs and be polite.

She said it best herself she doesn't do anything short meaning she took time and was better taking the time to decide what was right for her family, society is so quick to judge but, think about if she had sent her kids in to school there were be back lash on that. They are their kids they can do homeschool if they want. The girls are going to have the greatest memories with their family, and that is what matters!! Love you guys

It’s a massive world and we all make the world go round it’s not for all children and it’s something we have considered for our son I. See. Kids deteriorate in their personalities and try to be like everyone else and they only need half the time needed with a one to one is more beneficial the government need to realise classes to big half time .Do whatever you feel best and it takes a lot to think outside the circle . Yes I’m Going to check resources online to help home education Thankyou for sharing it’s not about the money you have thought about your children’s feelings everyday how happy they can be lockdown we learnt is life is too short . 🌈

Both my children were home schooled and they are fantastic. Now obviously I'm biased but the biggest thing that stands out with homeschooled kids is their ability to talk to adults normally. Most school kids try to avoid talking to adults and when they do it mostly whilst looking at the ground and mumbling monosyllabic words as quick as possible. Your girls will thank you for this in the future as mine do now. Daughter now 28, pensions adviser. Went to school for one year at primary then no more. Son now 26, musician and specialist steels welder. Never went to school. If you come back to the UK then EO (Education Otherwise) is a great help with home schooling groups.

I'm 26 and I graduated highschool in 2011. I was incredibly bad at maths and still struggle to this day. However, I am in the highest rated university within my city for my chosen career path - early childhood education at Notre Dame and I am averaging credits/distinctions/high distinctions. It goes to show that if you struggle in one aspect of schooling - IT IS NOT THE END FOR YOU. You will succeed.

I’ve just finished year 11 and I just thought I’d tell you a bit about GCSEs content to help you with decisions for Isabelle’s GCSEs. I would recommend doing the English literature gcse in year 11 not year 10 just because of how much you have to learn. Depending on the different exams boards you study different texts but I had to do 3 books and a poem anthology which even in 2 years was a lot to memorise and learn- there is a lot of content for each. English Language has a lot less to memorise but it is hard to grasp and having more time may help as she can do more practice papers etc. I feel like Isabelle would end up with better grades and get what she deserves doing it in year 11. Maths is probably the one she’d most likely be able to do in year 10 but its still quite difficult and I still struggled with doing it in 2 years but with your one on one help it might be easier. I hope this helped as I want Isabelle to do as well as she is capable of doing xx

For my son I could never home school, during lockdown he did not want to know about any school work. So mainstream school is definitely better for him, BUT I would NEVER judge anyone who think differently or do what Is best for their child/children. this is their decision and you have to respect that. just because it’s your opinion doesn’t mean you have to call them out. they’re doing what’s right for their children which is the best thing. my friend has been home/ online schooled since year 4 and they are now in year 13! they did amazingly in their gcses. their girls are so much happier, and that’s the priority. education can be done anywhere and anytime, but mental health cannot. that’s the priority. i completely support your decision!! school isn’t for everyone, and it is out of date and old fashioned for people to always think school is the best way to go. good luck guys xx

Kudos to you for making the decision! If you have the ability to do it then why not. Life is short. You’re lucky you can work from home/ anywhere so you can give the girls that time to help them progress with their learning. And in having the financial status you do, you’re able to travel the world and make learning fun & more widespread than any school can provide. Imagine how much £ you’re going to save not paying private school fees per term 2! When lockdown began I was so into home schooling for my now 6 year old daughter Nevaya.... but as time went on it became harder to give it that focus & time. I also have Amelia who is 3 & Safiya who will be 2 in December. They wanted & needed my attention and home schooling wasn’t always easy. On top of that it was hard for Nevaya to concentrate whilst they were playing. Put on top the heatwave and swimming pool in the garden she just wanted to play so we did much less in terms of the written side of things as time went on. For you to make such a commitment when you have 4 children, well hats off to you both! Enjoy your adventures & live everyday to the max!❤️x

I remember the year after I graduated, I went to Washington D.C here in the states. I found it so interesting and wished I had been able to go there earlier before I started learning about the country in school. I would have been so much more interested in history. I remember taking my daughter to Disney World and going to EPCOT. My daughter learned so much about other countries and space and dinosaurs and many other things. You learn so much traveling. It's always an education to learn about other places and people. Lots of museums to visit. And lots of fun too. I remember Isla being so interested in 9/11 because she had been to NYC. ⚠️ Sarah, after getting esme checked for dyslexia it might be worth getting her checked for visual stress (there is a more formal word but I can remember it 😳) basically this is very similar to dyslexia but might not be picked up in the tests. Most opticians offer these test and the are rather inexpensive next to dyslexia test and will result in her getting a coloured screen to go over anything that she needs to read, for example my colour is aqua this has helped me massively in school and boosted my grades meaning I didn’t get under a 6 in any of my subjects I’m name GCSEs this summer !! This really helped boost my confidence especially after I got a dyslexia test and it came back saying I only had it very mildly making me think that I wasn’t working hard enough and all this time it was just me being stupid!! I hope this helps love you all !! 💕💕

Like Sarah said there is no shame in it but for her sake it's best to know either way then they can deal with it accordingly . People are so quick to pull them to pieces but It's a shame more parents out there aren't taking such an interest in their children's learning and I'd there may be issues , trying to find a way to fix them

They all attended school at some point and I regret that they did. All my children have thrived at home schooling, including the ones that have been behind and within a few weeks they have learnt more then they ever did at school. They have not missed out on any education and two out of the three now attend college, one is still to young. Your children are still being educated you are still providing all their needs to them so I wouldn’t worry. Well done for making the right decision for your family I know it worked great for us x

Dyslexia is nothing to be embarrassed about I’m nearly 22 & have struggled with it since I was 8! But a little tip to help with her concentration as I struggle so much with this at university is I sit & play with a fidget spinner or some blue tack it keeps my brain ticking but stops me fidgeting & getting distracted! I’m not sure if she struggles with visual stress too but tinted coloured paper helps makes reading that bit easier xx

No hate but while you think homeschooling is the best decision for you guys right now it’s not- your children will grow up to be socially awkward especially the younger two because if you shelter them away from all hate they won’t know how to get stronger and believe in themselves to not let it get to them. High school is such crucial years and everyone faces battles in it but what you do learn is a lot about yourself and who you are as a person. Shielding them away at home won’t build that character because it will create a fake reality that life is perfect. Also while the girls get a long amazing it’s unhealthy that they won’t be able to spend time apart from eachother and become their own individuals instead of a collective group. No hate obviously your decision just thought I should mention these points so you can consider xx

I have dyslexia and irlens syndrome and before I always felt confused on how people didn’t struggle with reading or processing things or how their speech could come out perfectly- like it was my fault - my English teacher suggested I got tested as it would benefit me for my GCSE’s for I was in year 10 at the time and once I got diagnosed small things like jumbing up my words in a sentence didn’t matter anymore because I knew it wasn’t my fault and it sounds small but it made me more content with myself yet it’s frustrating sometimes I would recommend getting tested

@alexiaroberts6398

Gabi Stevens if I’m being honest I don’t really know but irlens is to do with perceptual processing and how our Brian’s can’t process things at the speeds of others or at all like speech or thinking and we struggle with putting our thoughts into words and it making sense aswell as forgetting words frequently or constantly losing our chain of thought and dyslexia is to do with reading where you struggle with understanding what you’ve read as if you haven’t even seen the words before aswell as even reading the word sometimes your brain stuggles to make sense of a word at it takes you a lot longer - some of this may be wrong as I know dyslexia also effects your language skills which may be why you struggle at learning a knee language or something- they are very similar and both learning disorders but irlens is more to do with the brain
