Evo one of my favorite cars. Fortunate to have one. It's a fun car out the box factory. It is reliable but i'd keep the hp numbers under 500. The fun part is the handling and way too many people want to make it fast for straight line. There are way better cars out there and you'll spend less overall if you just buy a faster car from factory if you want to just race in a straight line.

Ok, tough one here. But I'll be extremely bigoted for a second and I hope it'll be taken in context. I firmly believe the Evo X is a fantastic vehicle. But it's not for everyone. Just because you want a cheap, easy to build-up, high-performing vehicle - it doesn't automatically mean it'll be the one for you. Because, just like any vehicle, this one requires maintenance and care. And most "cheap" owners will find that your local Jiffy Lube won't be able to properly service this car. Heck, most dealers these days don't even know where to find the battery and fluid reservoirs! The Evo X is often underestimated in terms of its service costs, and if you think you'll be OK putting Walmart tires on an Evo X... or an eBay clutch --- dude, just stop and get yourself a Honda. Next. Fuel. Want to beat a V8, don't care about V8 fuel economy, and don't particularly care for small displacement? Get a V8. Because this car is not your typical 4-cylinder. And, it requires Premium. Good luck, Californians. Finally - novelty. You want cred? Good luck being noticed in a Mitsubishi. I don't care if it's an Evo - unless you put eBay canards and gawdy ironing board wAngs and cut out your exhaust - most people won't give two hoots about a Mitsubishi. Just face the facts. Only the very few true car enthusiasts recognize what an Evo is. Or, more importantly - the potential. Rice it out as your first mod, and don't expect much respect from a true gearhead. You'd probably be hated on instantly. Last comment - as a person who still loves his Mitsubishis, I'm saddened at what the brand has become. I appreciate the legacy and history and cherish what they brought to the automotive enthusiast world. But, as snowflakes can get so tightly-wound about endangered species - it saddens me what people are willing do to the few good examples of potent Mitsubishis left out in the wild. For those of us who do care genuinely about this marque - please, do it justice. Because we will go out of our way to take care of it and give it the proper respect it's due. Because there aren't many left. If you want something fun that you can go fast in, mess with without regret, still enjoy a fair amount of support, but still share your experiences with others --- go get a Scoobie or VW. Leave a pristine Mitsubishi to those who have the finances and means to treat it right.
@studentdriverrs10433 жыл бұрын
No I respect a fellow opinion 1 thing I would say I have to disagree with is street cred. I’ve owned 7 Subarus ranging from stock to 400whp generally no one cared about them. They are a dime a dozen nothing special. The evo I have an intense following as well as anytime I drive more then 5 minutes on the road someone’s hanging out of their car window freaking out over it. I do however agree with you this is not a cheap car to own/maintain I do not suggest those with a lower budget to buy one but! If you have a goal of higher whp like 450+ it’s one of the easiest platform to do so. Value - they are becoming increasingly difficult to find they also are retaining their value incredibly well a VW or a subie plummet in value this is also something to consider especially since that is a huge part to play in cost.
@slippercream3 жыл бұрын
@@studentdriverrs1043 I can appreciate the dissenting opinion :) Though I didn't mean to say a Scoobie gets more street cred - that was meant in terms of support and community. In many ways, anonymity is a good thing. You're not as much a target as an Audi RS or BMW Mx. But, often the average person won't care, unless you have "look at me" bits screaming for attention. Let's put it this way - I get more hoots and hollers driving an FTO on US roads, because people think it's an A80 Supra. Go figure. :) This one - it's just a Lancer. Especially the case if you have a post-2010 MR that has a lip and not the signature wing.
