The skeleton adds in the groups of seven haven't dropped the hilts since it was "fixed" back in 2009. They nerfed that right quick since people were farming these back then, too. The new badge catch up mechanics will probably make these fairly inexpensive.

The small skeletons don't drop the hilt. The hilt drops often enaugh just running it normally, it won't be expensive for very long.

Our guild has plans to run this farm often. We will kill everything without getting saved and then reset until each member of the group has a hilt. Hopefully the RNG gods are kind.

Just started attempting this on a prot warrior. Once the initial dialog has gone out you become saved to the instance without the ability to reset and start over.

@SCottejaye I've been farming this dungeon alot today. I've had around 400 mobs killed, but still not a single Battered Hilt... Do you know if Blizzard have reduced the dropchance or something? Its def. not worth farming, if I'm NOT just unlucky.. I've cleared the whole dungeon, then just waited for them to respawn.

I'm so glad that i played protpaladin since classic. So many ways to farm gold. Boosting, solo mountfarms, solo everything.

Dual boxed these in OG, any tank + healer ( (prot pally/druid or revenge spec warrior/druid). It's probably faster overall since you can pull more than a single pack/mob at a time and even in boomkin spec you can outheal the damage as well as hurricane the packs.. The debuff from the protodrake/rider combo matters not at all with a healer there.

Dont forget zo use sacred shield for absorb and shadow resistance aura on the casters, scroll of strenght is easy to come by too

@scottejaye Im farming this in HC, since I've read multiple places that it only drops in HC. Problem is, that I cannot reset the dung, so the mobs respawn. How exactly am I supposed to do that? When I right-click my portrait and press "reset", it dosn't work :(

could be more efficient to 2 man it with say an ele shaman and a tank so the shammy can off heal. would probably reduce the kill times so much that you could get 2 faster than you would get 1 solo farming. Or just split the gold from 1.

I am trying this on my feral (tank) druid in Pit of Saron. Wrathbone Laborer, Gargoyle and Horrors goes down quite easy (have not tested the Dragon yet). Can kill the Necrolyte will some more effort. But I wanted to ask if anyone has found a Line of Sight place (which would have these casters much easier)? I have tried different pillars, the portal structure at the entrance, largers stones (hoping they would not just work as normal environment). but no luck yet

You might already know but you can cleanse yourself when the necrolytes do the conversion beam and it acts as an interupt

I cannot remember why but I ran the Pit for a while, the 'Battered Hilt' dropped, I put it up on the auction house repeatedly, no one wanted it, kept dropping the price until I gave up, I think I still have it and the 'Haunted Memento' or something like that, the ghost thing that follows you around, never managed to sell that either.

Go in as mage, pull every skeleton Pack with living bomb and rocket boots - use images, block to get some space and time and than invis when skeletons died due to living bombs -> loot and go out.

i think this sounds great as a solo farm if you have no friends or guildies to play with or say you dont like pugging, but any way you shake it i feel like its likely more than 2x faster to duo, more than 5x faster to 5 man, etc. - and then split the value or rotate the drops. cant imagine you’d instance cap. pretty sure there’s enough trash for 12 min clears.

I was doing exactly this on my prot paladin in ptr ! saw 1 from the forge of souls when we initially did the quest chain then i farmed 1 more over like 15 runs in pit of saron

This was my plan going into wrath, to farm battered hilts for $$$, but with the ilvl buff to Ulduar gear, Heroic ++ and sidereal essences and the upcoming gamma heroics (?), it may not be as profitable as I thought it would be. Gearing is a lot easier/more options than OG wrath.

Man I farmed this thing during Cataclysm. Finally dropped and it didn't sell (I'd set the price admittedly too high) for weeks. I then quit the game for a couple of months thinking I'd stashed it in my bank. It was in my mailbox....GM's couldn't help either with items lost in the mail

Back in the day they patched it so that the non elite skeletons couldn't drop it anymore because they were so easy to solo.

If you get a superior or epic quality item drop, that mob will take considerably longer to despawn so dont worry too much about looting before you die unless you need the silver.

You do realize you can just dispel the channeled cast during shadow conversion nullifying any damage. Also for anyone that doesn't have a prot spec , holy works just fine. Sacred shield absorbs almost 3k damage each hit. I'd argue holy is better for survivability in this place then protection is. Maybe slower kills though.

@@Auroche i mean i'm killing these things fine on my holy paladin. Sure it's slower but i dont run out of mana, and I never go below half health. The only thing I dont have is an interrupt but it's not needed. I'm saying if you dont have a prot spec then holy can survive just as well with the trash in PoS. This dude doesn't even know you can dispel the channeled cast because he doesn't use proper raid frames that highlight debuffs.

The current price of BH makes it not worth the time. With lichbloom at 200g a stack it's much more profitable to farm herbs for the same amount of time.

If Blizzard wants to make a bunch of quick cash, then what they need to do is place a shrine to the RNG gods in each capitol city. The only currency that it would accept is WoW Tokens. This would give the toon or the account a time limited buff that increases gold and loot chances. It would be great for something like this.

it's not even in common in retail, only people getting rich are the bots and fly hacking mages, retail you can do 10 instances an hour, classic is reduced down to 5, won't be that many people getting rich off it. Very very very low drop rate, still highly valued on retail still for xmog. If it's the same drop rate gonna be pretty hard to farm for gold unless you bot it. Nice RNG jackpot item tho
