We raise our 5 yr old great granddaughter. She has been watching me play on the iPad and we both have been watching your videos. The other day she brings me her iPad wanting me to download Chess for her. After downloading it we played her 1st game. That’s all this girl talked about the rest of the nite. Now when she gets home from preK she will bring her iPad wanting to play. I just wanted to say thank you sir. Job well done.

I can’t believe we’ve reached the end of Logical Chess already. Great book, I’ve definitely learned a lot from it. If I wasn’t using the engine it was fun to practice my board visualisation too. Really looking forward to this next book. Will get it on order!

Great compromise in the book choice - kudos for taking the time to think through what would be best and not being afraid to choose what makes sense even if not the first choice (it was a close 2nd anyway). Love your content, Nelson!
@williamsquires307015 күн бұрын
The one thing about chess; it’s always been a contest - not just of wills - but of compromise. Each move (especially pawns) has benefits and drawbacks. The trick is to know which is more important in the position.

This is one of the most excellent and instructive episode of them all, hardly ever paused the video as often and as long. Furthermore, I'm happy to see an endgame book winning last week's contest, even though "100 endgames you must know" was my favorite. Thumbs up Nelson for your brilliant piece of work!

I don’t know why, but this video made me come up with a name for a character in Nelson’s chess adventures story, “Mongoose” Carlsen. Let’s see Bobby Fisherman, Joe Average, and Peter Patzer encounter a mongoose named Carlsen (2800+ rating!) 😅

Hey Nelson, thanks to your videos I'm almost 1900 in rapid. One thing that holds me back is I never studied chess openings. I've found that can happen to you if you deviate from your norm as well so I thought it would be awesome for viewers and you if you did some videos talking about openings.

Hey Nelson, just thought I'd share that in the 100 Endgames book, the author suggests the following endgames as being appropriate for players up to 1900-2000 rating, so I thought I'd point this out as being good for your viewers for the supplemental content you mentioned: "Chapter 1 and Endings 41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 65, 79, 80, 82, 86, 89, 90, 91 and 92"

Hello Nelson, many thanks for all the Videos dealing each chapter of this book. I am really a poor chess player and would give a lot to be an advanced player. Here is what I appreciate the most in your Videos: all moves Look logical and "easy", you can find an argument why a move is better than another. This is the ability I will train and hope to develop/improve. Thanks for all, looking forward the videos on endgames! Regards from Germany

18:00 found it although I spent like 15 minutes figuring it out. Also didn't see the entire line, just that it opened the option to attack the king. Lucky guess I suppose. I did not see the checkmate ahead and I would never have played nor seen that in a game.

Can you make the chess board not go all the way to the edge of the screen. On my TV (and I assume every LG thinQ) the KZbin app cuts off a little of the screen and it eliminates the option to zoom to fill on phones. If not no big deal.

I’ve been reading through Silman’s complete endgame course and it’s a pretty good book, introducing endgames in a way that you can understand and actually use
@vinsanity98215 күн бұрын
It’s funny, I just started reading Silman’s a couple of weeks ago. I won my first game a couple of days ago, specifically because of knowledge I gained from the book. I ended up in a drawn king and pawn endgame. First of all, I recognized that it was a drawn position. However, I also recognized that in order for it to be drawn, my opponent would need to know the right moves to force the draw. So I tactically moved my king a couple of times until my opponent made a mistake and gave me the opposition back. Then I was able to queen the pawn and win

at 08:50 could we just move pawn to h4 to kick the queen and then take knight?

So after the explanation of the line where the queen ends up on on d5 and the rook on a5 wouldn't it have been better at 16:00 to take that bishop with the queen in the first place?

For some reason, my comment on last week's video was deleted. In that comment I suggested that you supplement your endgame videos with some features from the world's most famous chess website (I think naming it gets my comment deleted). That website has sections with endgame practice drills where you (and your viewers) can test your understanding of a certain endgame theme against the engine. Some of the drills correspond closely with the endgames in those two books. It would be instructive to either show yourself playing through the corresponding drill in real time, or to recommend specific drills as "homework".
