A few years back I used to play a lot of a game called "The Plaza". It was a simple roleplay and build your apartment kind of game, and it had a "Casino" building. In the casino you could use your Plaza Points (the game's currency) on slot machines, wheel spins and black jack. Even though losing money on any of the games was really hard, Roblox took the game down and forced the developer to at least rework the casino, and so he did: now everything is free to play and has a limited amount of uses per day. My question is, if a game that has much more tame gambling (no spending real money, very hard to lose on it) is enough to trigger Roblox's response (as it should be), why not take action against Pet Sim or other kinds of games that do this??

one of THE MOST insane parts of pet simulator 99 is when they include “mystery percentages” of getting a pet or item, meaning 3 eggs that cost 5 real life dollars each, (400~ robux) that would usually be listed as a 0.005% chance, can be simply labeled as “???” which means the percentage could be ANYTHING,, and you could be pouring thousands and thousands of robux into an item with a 0.000001% chance (or something)without even knowing the rarity. casinos in real life aren’t even allowed to do this as far as I know.

They don't do that with exclusive eggs, although they did that with the first addition during Christmas 2021. Everything mentioned in the video is nothing compared to the forever pack, I don't know why that wasn't mentioned at all. You literally pay to claim around 5 free rewards, and the price goes up each time you purchase, with the maximum price reaching 2400 per purchase. You have no idea what you're gonna get, and you can keep purchasing forever, hence it's name. It's extremely scummy because you can't scroll along to see the rewards you can get from purchasing, you HAVE to keep buying to POTENTIALLY get something good. You might come out with a huge after spending either 150 robux, or 20,000 robux.

This game has more problems than just "monetization le bad, making children go gambling addicts". Game provides almost 0 information, u need to test everything yourself, there are hidden caps that limits efficiency of things, and u won't know cuz game doesn't tell you anything. They added an enchant while a go, that costed 2400 robux, and it literally doesn't work. Description often doesn't match what u get. Devs don't communicate with players enough. The richest players can manipulate the market and make things seems more expensive than they already are - getting even more richer that way. So this video is just a tip of the iceberg.

As a league player, I can confirm a lot about that, I main Thresh, his abilities sound ESPECIALLY me landing a hook, is satisfying. But it also makes a player angry when they miss a shot that HAS a satisfying noise at the end, take Kai'sa W for example. You hear her grunt and create this void-like noise? If you land it, she'll say "Gotcha" and it'll create another void-like noise as well. If you miss, you don't hear any of that, it even adds salt to the wound further. Or Empyrean Pyke where he literally says voice lines if you miss a hook and cool as hell voice lines if you land it.

You buy the pets out of a pet store, not some stupid egg that somehow hatches into dogs or cats despite the fact that they aren't born from eggs. You take care of the pets by giving them food. Pets can have a personality, it's somewhat limited, but it still exists. Some are more playful, others are more relaxed. You can actually bond with the pets by playing with them. These all sound like good ideas, albeit I'd say the personality thing might be difficult (i don't know how to work the roblox game engine, so i might be wrong)

As someone who is heavily, heavily addicted to pet sim 99 and is free to play, the reason it's so addicting isn't the "Coin sfx" but the entire concept of huges and titanics. You see, the game has an entire economy in it - with falling and rising trends in every item. Basically, it's a toy stock market, and it feels so good to get richer and richer - to have these big rare pets follow you around, while others have nothing. It's so addictiong because of the Huge pets and Titanics, the impossible infinitely long quest to get all of them, to get more, to get as many as you can until you are satisfied - which you never are... This is something straight from "Black Mirror" as I remember the episode "free fall" where the protagonist just wants to upgrade her house to feel "satisfied" but fails miserably even though she was already upper middle class. This is why it's so addictiong like crack... This is why I still grind the game even after writing this comment.... This is why I just can't stop....... :/

Hellmet is one of those game who are either gonna take years between each updates or the dev will get burn out first. Pet sim 99 player here,just wanted to say that this video made me realize something very important. I have played all of the pet sim games,pet sim 1 was very catch-y, pet sim 2 had cool graphics but very poor gameolay,pet sim x was a gamer changer- every sim game now copies everything Preston does and changed Roblox tos, and pet sim 99 its just the pinnacle of greed. Although i been an active player for both X and 99, something i have done unintentionally that probably save me from becoming addict to the games (which was one main point of this video) was the sound effects. I always turn off all of volume of Roblox when playing pet sim,because when k started to play it was too loud to play with,so i always have it off. I kever realized the sounds were supposed to train you into addiction,because i never heard them from the start! I knew it had good sfx,but with how loud it is i couldn't stand it so when you stated Pavlov's dog,i just realized how i dodged a bullet didn't knew existed. So, although i knew about the NFTs, exclusive eggs, poor dev management, egoistic remarks from Preston, scams, Plushies, toys and merchandise, and nefarious updates... This was a first for me,and i have to thank you showing light to a very small, but dangerous detail. (I mostly play this game because i can afk so i guess thats also a good way to stop the addiction.)

The problem is that the gameplay is based off the original 7 year old concept,and of course there's new stuff to do and other things aside from farming coins and opening eggs,, but **that's** the focus of the game. If you can't get huges constantly then there's absolutely no excitement. Trading is one of the best ways to play the game,is entertaining,there's high stakes and it's fun when you can get stuff worth more than what you trade for,but that can get tiresome. I think right now is easier to "play the game" since there's many ways to get diamonds and items that could be worth huges or other high tier items,that's what I been doing since the RNG event,and I been having a little bit more fun,but yeah,if you want to "play" a game,pet sim is the worst choice.

I'm a long-time pet simulator player. I've been playing since the original and have seen every drama unfold, so I want to give my 2 cents on why I think pet simulator 99 is bad, apart from "Gambling bad". First, communications between devs and the playerbase is HORRIBLE. The game is silently modified from the backend and almost none of these "silent nerfs/buffs" ever make it into the patch notes. Second, the Pavlov's dog theory... personally, I am not affected by this and I don't think it's the whole problem. I think the real problem lies in the game's huge and titanic pets. This, is also why I think ps99 had the max pets equipped increased to 99, since it motivates players to fill their team with huges or titanics. And to do this, you either hatch the pets yourself (I get many of the new huge pets by hatching them myself) or gamble/spend robux on the forever pack or exclusive eggs. People who grind literally pay Preston with premium payouts, and people who gamble spend robux directly into Preston's account. Third, Preston and his team break the Roblox TOS very often (Look at the forever pack, physical merch and the NFT project) and just doesn't get punished because the game just makes so much money/brings in so many players. I waste some hours on it sometime still, but my addiction phase is far behind me. Don't be like me, just stay away.

And theres practically no other way to get them besides grinding, since theres no way to like merge pets into a huge. Now when I filter UGC limiteds by free I either find sold out items or items in a game that takes hours just to get 1% For example, I think a "train for UGC" game takes you 10k seconds for 1M points, and most UGC items cost at minimum 8M points to buy. There's also "flex UGC codes" or something like that, where you input the so called "free" UGC in the game, and then to get it you need to buy a game pass or shirt that most of the time costs 450-5000 robux. I'm very confused about this genre of games caused by limited UGC items but I really hate it, I miss the joy of refreshing the page of a game to snipe a copy, or trying to beat a difficult obby that's actually real as hundreds of other players follow behind and Infront you. It's just not real anymore.

Every time I watch these videos, I remember how much I played Blade Ball and how obsessed I got with the weapon crate. My friends got good Legendary swords within a week of playing, but I grinded the game for A MONTH on a near-daily basis before finally getting one of the swords I want. @@danik0011 To be fair, there *is* a sort of power creep in Sol’s RNG as they keep releasing increasingly rare auras - this update they released 1/825m (highest ever) Aegis - but it’s not necessary to get further in the game. Your progression in terms of auras and items is limited to only the 1/1m auras, which becomes very common - about 1/2 of them a day - at later points. Sure, EVERYONE wants the new best aura, but it isn’t REQUIRED.

Fun fact: ESRB states on its own website that in-game randomized purchases does not affect it's rating of a game, only that they're required to put a small footnote saying "includes in-game randomized purchases". For example, a game named Mega Mech Tycoon (10M visits, 15k/1,4k likes/dislikes) has the enormous amount of 36 GAMEPASSES, composed of 10 droppers (790 robux in total), 10 upgraders (790 robux), 4 paid mechs (1196 robux), 2+1 pet slots (270 robux), 50 pet storage (200 robux), fast hatch (129 robux), mech respawn (399 robux) and 6 "2x" gamepasses (2x money, luck, damage... (2094 robux). And all that sums up to 5868 robux, or 60.15€ (73.35$, 52.08£). Premium users also gain 50,000 coins, X2 Star Points and a 30min X2 Luck (minimum 5.99€, 4.99$, 4.99£). Then we get to products, wich there is a lot too. We have a VIP gamepass, wich gives "better" daily streak rewards, 75,000 gold, 45m of 2X Star Points and 2X gold, and a Discord Role (500 robux). Starterpacks, wich give money and temp 2X boosts. The most expensive one (Super Pack) has 500,000 gold, 1h of 2X Damage and 2X Gold for 1725 robux. Gold packs. Timed boosts (2X boosts of 15 minutes) wich are 79 for 2X Gold, 99 for 2X Damage, 79 for 2X Luck, 69 for 2X Health an 39 for 2X Star Points (365 robux). A single-use respawn mech for 19 robux. Unlock next daily streak reward now for 49 robux. Air drop 20 cases for 99 robux. Donation tiers wich give you bonus based on how much you gave (10,000 gold, 10min Gold Boost then 50 Star Points) for a total of 300 robux (I guess ?). Finally, if you were to buy all gamepasses and products (highest prices), you would have to pay ~10626 robux, or ~108.92€ (118.85$, 93.19£).

I will share my first thoughts, they involve Gacha games and the pity system along with at the end how I used to play Pet Simulator X due to severe depression. (The Gacha games I have played are: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, Project Sekai, Cookie Run Oven Break, and Cookie Run: Kingdom. Note: I am unable to spend money and even if I could I don’t want to, at least light spending) I play Genshin Impact, Project Sekai, and Cookie Run Kingdom, both Gacha games (for those who don’t know Gacha games are most common in east Asia. I will use Genshin as an example. In the game there is a Gacha system called ‘wishing’ where you can spend in game currency or spend real money to get in game currency to wish for characters or weapons). With Gacha Games there is normally a pity system. In Hoyoverse games (people who develop Genshin Impact) the pity system is basically you make one pull, that is plus one pity and you’re more likely to get the 5 star weapon or character you want, of course the maximum amount of pulls you need to do to get a character in Hoyoverse games are 180 pulls because the maximum pity is 90 and there is a chance to get a character from the standard banner but there is a pity system, it’s unlikely you actually have to pull 180 times because of soft pity and again you have a 50% chance on getting a character from the standard banner and after that it is guaranteed. But in Pet Simulator (I have played the game for my own research on if there is a pity system, both Pet Sim 99 and Pet Sim X) there doesn’t seem to be one, and again, in majority games with a Gacha system to get limited things you don’t need to spend real money to get in game currency meaning you can go your entire time playing Gacha games and get limited things without spending a single dollar. Say it with me, unlike Pet Simulator 99 and Pet Simulator X. Objectively it isn’t a Gacha game, instead a gambling game. Back in 2020 to late 2021 I was in a massive depressive spiral, I was around 11 at the time, I lacked dopamine (I possibly have ADHD so that didn’t help) and I picked up my iPad and played Pet Simulator X as often as possible, because it gave me hope I’d get something good and get that sweet dopamine rush. It only lasted a couple months before even that lost all meaning to me and I continued floating through life until multiple hyperfixations and special interests hit me and that kept me going (along with learning how to draw and animate along with spending time developing random skills), and I never looked back at Pet Simulator X until Pet Simulator 99’s release, I am an example of what games like Pet Simulator can do to people, how it can be the light in someone’s life who is suffering.

I miss games being like clone tycoon and ORIGINAL pet simulator, before it had it was spammed by micro transactions, I miss the quality of those old games, like how blox fruits tempts you to buy stuff while fantastic frontier is a passion project

i was addicted to ps 99 and played it nonstop. i never spent any robux and my account is f2p one. if it was tough to break those breakables i would find a person w/ tons of those op pets so they will break at a super speed (mostly likely at the "last" area, where they grind coins) bc if u stand in an area and smbdy else is grinding there, you would still get this loot. (or everyone whos standing gets it) Recently i quit the game for the reason bc it really got boring and each update the grind was becoming more difficult and sorta rng based. i hope i never return to this p2w gambling crap

Me personally, (and this is coming from someone who has played PSX and PS99), I absolutely despise the pet sim franchise becuase they seem to just recycle the same content over and over again, and it's just so boring and repetitive (I.E. reskinning already existing features to use them as "new content" in future updates like crystal chests, spinny wheels and etc). This is extremely unhealthy for any1 that wants to "get good" at it because you either need to spends hundreds of dollars or thousands of hours trading, grinding, leaving your pc send your power bill to new height and just so much more, and as i mentioned before, it's so repetitive and boring for maybe older users, but it just sucks in kids who get the biggest dopamine boost from getting large box sized pet once in a while. There is no goal to the game, the potrayed goal of (get the most huges and titanics) is pretty much unachievable nor is it rewarding if u even reach it in the first place, you most likely at most would just get another damn pet for simply being number 1, and just continue the exact same repetitive cycle of trading, playing 12 hours a day and etc. There is just no end goal, or point to even play the game in the first place, the game feels so low effort and i feel bad for any1 still wasting multiple hours a day playing this game.

Item asylum had a casino map which you could use a tiny amount of the points earned ingame on blackjack, slots, and they had to rework the whole thing.. It was literally about 1 map out of 50 other maps
