I have friends who are very wealthy. Own their business, own their personal plane etc, and yet they don’t have all this freedom that I heard from the first guy. They’re working nearly 24 seven just to maintain and improve their own business. Sure they can takeoff any day they want but they won’t takeoff because one day that they’re not far on the job it is either a day loss in profitability or they are called from the managers because something went wrong. So let’s not talk about holidays and festivities because I’ve seen those guys been engaged 100% nearly 24 hours a day seven days a week.
@anxiousseal556 Жыл бұрын
This what I realized once I got older, yes pilots work for weeks but when they’re off they’re off no work just straight up days off. Meanwhile working at the office you’ll be out for 8 hours every 5 days and can be more depending on the job. Go home can’t do anything. Assuming they really are off during weekends that means you’ll have 8 total days off a month might as well be not at home.

I want something that I can still be into Aviation and still be entrepreneur. The ceiling of potential is unlimited. Especially now in the corporate sales of aircraft. You can then reinvest your money back in to owning.. multi units apartments. Then continue to do so as you go on still doing things you love and continue on with investing into more units . He was a naval aviator and when he got out of he could not get on with a major carrier and ended up with a commuter airline for 5 years prior to Fedex. He's made a ton of money and his retirement is out of this world. Suits him just fine since he is very materialistic. Forgot to mention he is an alcoholic. I know of another Fedex pilot who is training to be a captain. Unfortunately, he is an alcoholic too. I think the job is over-rated. Very hard to get there money wise. Goes for any job: make sure the dream of the job is close enough to the reality of the job that you’ll still enjoy it-talk to people who hate the job at least as much as you engage those who love it. Pilot, Police, or Professor, all can be vastly different than they appear on the outside, and the people in love with the job will overlook things that you need to know because those things are not important (or are even pluses) to them. Not only you as the worker, but your partner/family needs to understand what the job really is instead of falling in love with the dream they have of the job. Learned to fly in high school, University, USAF early out when Viet War ends, joined the Reserves, Flew L100 north slope pipe line, hired Alaska Airlines, house view of Puget Sound, 10 minute drive to SEA-TAC, 35 minute drive to USAF reserve unit (6 war zone flying in 24 year military) retired. Cold rainy Seattle morning, 05:00 show at TSA security agent went nuts started yelling at me because he knew I was flying to PVR & ALPA was not letting TSA agents access to jump seat so TSA agents could fly to PVR, another TSA agent picked up my bags & smashed them to the floor off the belt, picked up my bags went to another checkpoint processed TSA security no problem to get to aircraft for a 07:00 on time departure. Two weeks latter received court paper putting me thru a year long TSA Federal Court Trial, Trial ghosted by Alaska Airlines Senior Attorney, Ghosted by ALPA council 67 attorney, Ghosted by all ALPA Reps, Ghosted by Alaska Chief Pilot & Base Chief pilot. At trial all videos were missing, which was ok with TSA appointed judge, 5 TSA agents perjured themselves in testimony (3 were not even at checkpoint). Convicted by judge from TSA agents claiming I was a some operative terrorist pilot. Alaska Airlines Chief Pilots & management back up TSA Court action (TSA paid by U.S. Government which is a large cost savings for Alaska management). Alaska Chief Pilot then sent 3 green card instructors into annual simulator for a pre determined bust (Alaska calls this training above FAA standards, busted by management). If a pilot gets into a conflict with a Gold, 75K frequent flyer or TSA agents or management, training department instructors will bust line pilot in simulator for no reasons per management. Green card German (alcoholic), Green card French Algerian (Flight LAX to SEA landed short in PDX almost out of fuel). Green card New Zealand J/A merger (voted 94% against ALPA). Forced to retire 6 year early, Alaska does not support Line pilots, if you want a long career go to work for a airline that truly supports Line pilots, however management does support instructor pilots with no integrity or morals.

Only few people can handle staying away from your home town , family kids birthday kids homework your kids important events , holidays , doctors appointments …… many more . You burn yourself to give happiness and service for others . You burn like a candle to give light for others . You should think before you join such kind of jobs . Life styles for Truck Driver and A pilot is about the same you have to sacrifice your kids your family your health . Just for livings to provide a food for your family , you are paying the most important of your life and your families life too. The sacrifices are huge.

Why I think trucking to flying commercial would be easy to get into lifestyle wise .just have to put in the money which isn’t the hard part.its finding the time .

Yes i agree. Being the monopoly man is probably better than flying an airplane sure.

What scares me is that Airlines are not hiring qualified pilots. They are hiring by equity. I don’t want equity flying my plane! Ret.Paramedic ⚕️🇺🇸

First guy could have kept flying and still invested to eventually make enough to own a charter jet. A lot of those real estate gurus aren't that happy and only do it for the money. With enough income as a United wide body captain you can buy a new rental house every year or buy a ton of stocks on top of your 401k. Since 2010 the market for house flipping has been red hot. Easy to say you would have made more in hindsight If the market stays flat the next 15 years there is no guarantee he will make enough to buy a G650.

I'm canadian living in Toronto, i also have my European citizenship, i haven't started flight school yet Any idea if Europe provides better training and opportunities Also this video the gentleman said he's away 6 months? I thought airline pilots were away days at a time, maybe 2 weeks max? I thought pilots had lots of time off - 2 weeks on 2 weeks off Like to know how the real estate is working for him, if he was smart he should had done real estate part time, and once he started making good sales, then quit flying. Its funny i was thinking real estate and decided flying-

its not the same. getting paid , than hunting for work. Running a company is not that simple. You can have expectations but economy determines that. for the first guy. Starting good in a business doesn't mean that it always stay that way.

Just see the first testimonial so far, but what I see is that guy looks like those ppl that getting in some thing thinking they go to the heaven, no one job going to be always good, hope he don’t think been a real state is a marvelous, now we’re in very good time for real state of here in USA, but; back in 2007/2010 was a nightmare, no one wants to buy house/property those years(any those days looks like very close again). I am 34 years old, and now I Know I want to be a pilot, I lot it since kid, now I’m in my time for that, one advisor for you new ppl that like something and wants go for it, look for at least 5/10 testimonials before make a choice, never go in the first impression, maybe what is good for one is not for others, look and make your choices. Good luck everyone!

I want to transition out of professional truckdriver/equipment operator. Sounds like I'm getting myself into something "same same but different". Perhaps I just need a cool hobby, perhaps it's just better to stick with the grind I know and go flying for fun? I remember when driving was fun too. One thing for certain if you make something a job it sure drains all the fun out of it. [Edit]:. Thanks for the video and perspective!!

I drove trucks from 2000 till 2008 but in 2005 while still driving trucks i decided to go flight school in my spare time and now i still haul cargo but now it's in a 747 and it was the greatest decision I made. In 2018 i became a Captain and now i make around $188,000 a year. So if you love flying you should absolutely go for it and go to a flight school, the first 3 to 4 years might be hard flying for the regional airlines while building flight hours and making only $30,000 to $40,000 a year but that goes up pretty quickly, with in 5 years my salary jumped to $85,000 and from there it just kept going up. One of the other Captains at the airline i work for is now making $250,000 a year after being with the airline for 16 years, plus you get great bonuses, benefits, vacation time and an excellent retirement package. I only work 14 days out of a month, so basically i get paid $188k for 6 months of work and to this day i can't believe they pay me to do this. If you go to flight school you will not regret it.

@@AviationNut Thanks man! I appreciate the perspective. I'm doing ground school and start flight school in April. Can't wait! Not sure how far I'll take it. Even if it's just a cool hobby I think it'll be fun! Albeit push me broke, lol. Long haul cargo definitely appeals! Last year I worked ~3000 hours so definitely like the sounds of those hours!

Difference is we in da sky bro! Piloting sounds like you have 3 days truck schedule, a week off- EZ PZ. If you can make it in the trucking industry, you can fucking make it anywhere. Keep on driver, I mean flyer🎉! How’s it going now bro?

She just said that she quit (Nancy), why is she telling the world then she got furloughed? Her story seems fishy and calling out a company straight up "unsafe" is a serious allegation. Not very difficult to find out who she used to work for... A person whose able to just leave a company during the pandemic to pay for helicopter flight lessons doesn't represent pilots realistically as a whole sorry.

She did get furloughed from her previous airline and got hired with, I think it was Atlas. She then quit Atlas...
@mike73ng Жыл бұрын
I watched several of her videos when she got checked out in the 747. She seems to have failed IOE. Who knows why but it appears she didn’t “fit” in with the cargo dog lifestyle.

But.. Why do you need a Bachelors Degree to be a civilian pilot.. Russia is like that?? Too many military pilots in USA retiring sometimes it makes it like that..
