Not sure if you know this but here in Sweden, education is free. Yes, there is free education to become an airline pilot with a b737 rating and an option to also get a ppl in the course. There is even 2 schools, one in Lund and one in Västerås. I know EASA have different requirements but I think the minimum flight hours is 200 so you get that plus they have agreement with both Norwegian airlines and SAS so you basically have hours as an apprentice first officer there as well, during school and if you arent a complete moron, you will land a job there, if they survive corona. They take 20 students each year. One is starting in the spring and the other in the fall. All you need to pay for is a medical, an pilot aptitude test, a complete degree for your upper secondary school (we start at age 7 and go 9 years Foundation school, then 3 years of upper secondary so kind of college). I used to work as a cabin crew and im going to work my grades up besides running my business because it is just too good of an opportunity to pass down on.

Get instrument and commercial in single engine first then do multiengine add on. This way you will have commercial single engine with instrument and commercial multiengine with instrument.
@2025at5 жыл бұрын
Or you can do it separately( single engine CPL or multiengine CPL) but it will cost you much more $$$ if you want to combine them.
@wethepeople44325 жыл бұрын
@@2025at Thanks for the response! I was curious if we can take the ratings separately. Seems very possible. That said if I'm going to do it separately. Which of the two should I do first? The one that most corporation airlines prefer to become a pilot of their company. I reside in Hawaii and I'm hoping to land a career with Hawaiin Airline near future.
@2025at5 жыл бұрын
C P 99% of pilots I know got it done in this way: Private,Instrument,Commercial-all in single. And then Multiengine- just 5-10 hrs of training plus checkride ( no written test required) and Instrument/Commercial from single will also be on your Multiengine ticket. It does not make any sense to waste money doing it another way. Doing Instrument and Commercial in Twin will cost you almost 3x more. You can fly for hire a single engine aircraft, like Pilatus PC12. In this situation Multiengine is not required. But if you want to fly bigger ones Multi is a must. Imagine, you have done everything in a twin( multi)....not only you made your training more expensive and complicated but also , without single, you will not be allowed to take your friends for a ride in a small plane. You definitely need a single and multi but start with single and finish with multi.Good luck. P.S. Having a lot of time in multi ( doing initial training etc.) will be a plus (for hire) but ...well.... a lot of $$$.
@wethepeople44325 жыл бұрын
@@2025at Awesome! As an introvert, I don't socialize much which means my dog is the only friend lol. Therefore I don't mind taking the multi-engine alone pursuing a career than a hobby. Yes, flying an aircraft as big as the Boeing 747 type in a commercial setting is the ideal goal. The training program I'll be attending has 4 separate costs: www.georgesaviation.com/flight-training-fees/ 1) PPL $8600 2) Instrument $7000 3) Single-engine $16000 4) Multi-engine $9700 The single-engine is costly but if I could do just the PPL, instrument, and multi without the single. This the option I would take. I guess my whole point here (career-wise) if a corporation airline such as Hawaiian or United will hire me without the single-engine. But if I have to acquire a single-engine rating, so be it. I'll just have pay for the whole $41k. Thanks for the response again! Very informative. Cheers.

Nice video! Quick question/comment. I do agree with you that the degree aspect is becoming obsolete on the regional level, but many mainline/legacy carriers still require or “strongly prefer” at least a 2 year degree. Though not wasting your time on college to get into the regionals as fast as possible sounds appealing, you still do need to consider what is required in progressing your career. I think it always just depends on what kind of flying you want to do, but it is just something to think about.

Eastbound Anthem I started at 29. In today’s environment you’ll have 5 years with a regional airline and 29 with a major. Majors require a degree unless you flow to a major through Envoy, PSA, or Piedmont (takes much longer). Just do your degree online. It’s nowhere near too late for you. Study hard and fly as much as you can.

First of all think you for your video :) I have a quick question, I know that you said we don't need to do a bachelor degree at University to be a pilot but what is the advantage if we do it?
@sherylsmith81434 жыл бұрын
Tia Thenel from my understanding from reading the comments, if you don’t have an associates/bachelors then you likely won’t work for a big airline and mostly regional
@jadenalleman51374 жыл бұрын
Tia Thenel The advantage would be having a better chance of getting a job at a major airline. I recommend you do get a degree if your goal is to work for a major.

I went to ATP Flight School. Worst decision Ive made. They treat you like an item on an assembly line. You are stuck to the syllabus. And if you don't get something right away, you are left in the dust. Could have gone to a mom and pop flight school for half the cost

Kyle Havas I think they do a pretty good job. You just have to be able to learn things on your own but mostly you learn most of the things through training

For my school, all planes have an hour counter. Before you go up for a flight, you record the hours before your flight and the amount after. Then you keep track in a log book.

This was incredibly informative, thank you! As far as I’m aware, don’t most Major airlines require a bachelors degree to apply? Is the ultimate goal of a airline pilot to advance from regional to major? Or is there even much of a difference?
@dimitrypittman1432 жыл бұрын
With a high demand in pilots today, not anymore. However like the inflation that went up on everything, so did the flight schools.

I called ATP and they told me in order to be eligible to be a student. You must already have your private licence or at least 50 college credits.

Curtis Simpson probably works out better anyways. There’s an $18k difference in going to them Zero Hours vs. Private Pilot. If you can get a Private Pilot somewhere else for only $8k-$10k you still save 8-10k in the end

Tony Rivera yeah sort of it’s 63995 from ppl or 80995 from zero time....

Curtis Simpson I saw that you need an Associate's Degree, 60+ college credit hours, equivalent work experience, or military experience. You need an US Citizenship (or Permanent Resident). You need an FAA First Class Medical Certificate and adhere to Height and Weight Limits. Would registered nurse with an associates degree quslify? Would I still need an FAA First Class Medical Certificate?
