I've been replaying IX every year since I first played it in 2000 and the story still impacts me in the same exact way. There was such a magic in the air of that time with PS1-era JRPGs.

Wild to think how Rob and I are so similar in age right down to us both having birthdays in December and having very similar memories of experiences (though if I were pressed, I’d say 8 is my favourite!)

Rob’s love of videogames is incredibly infectious, and his eloquent talking style just makes you just as excited for it as he is. Also hilarious how he was more excited for FF9 than his own marriage lmao

There isn’t enough people on KZbin like Rob, someone right there at the time playing the FFs as they were released. I’m a little bit older than him, I was just turned 17 when FF9 dropped and i had the import from America, i was already long a 60htz import gamer by then. Zelda Majoras, FF9, and Wu Tang the W album all arrived the same day, i’ll always remember that. Absolutely incredible game, an instant classic but funnily enough at the time i certainly preferred 7 and 8. Nowadays it’s definitely 7 and 9 way ahead of 8. I replayed FF9 for the first time in 18 years back in 2018 and it was a far better game than i remembered. I was emotional at the end sequence, something which hardy ever happens to me. i echo the excitement of a new FF, zelda and LOTR in cinema. i lived it too. they were great days and as much as i strive to recapture them, i never quite get there.

Yup.. 9 gave me very good memories.. its kinda hard to say what best final fantasy because each one kinda own game.. the story of 10 was crazy but 9 was funny with the best music.. and 7 was my first also.

When I think of my favourite Final Fantasy, my head says VII but my heart says IX. It is the one I always go back to even now I'm in my 30s!

There's a fanmade project rn called Project Memoria. You can check it out here on yt. I wish SE would commision that team to remake FFIX... ....like I would preorder that faster than Vivi chugging down a Hyper potion whilst being blessed by triple haste, and I never preorder

The key thing with Memoria is that it looks amazing but it plays exactly the same as the original. I love that.

I can relate to this. On the day final fantasy came out I played it continuously, so much so that I fell asleep with the game on. my mum found me conked out in a chair with a controller in my hand and the game still on 😂 love it. Forgot to save though didn't I? And she turned it off so I lost my save. Classic

Very much agree with the sentiment that the Final Fantasies with a good sense of humor are favorites. It’s the charm and humor that make the series special. I felt that was really lacking in FFXVI.

@@Wickerrman Whichever it ends up being (assuming it does end up ever actually BEING :D) , I just hope they get Vivi's story right. I'm pretty sure they will but that's the one thing they have to be careful with, I think.

It's the best FF9 game if ya ask me (and the critics agree). Idk why 7 never resonated with me much even though I love the characters. 9 is just on a diff level.

That’s not quite what he says though is it. He said he was more excited for FF9 than any other singular thing he’s ever been involved in, including getting married.
