At the evangelical church I went to, on the rare occasions that we did communion, the pastor would always preface it by explicitly telling us that it was merely symbolic, not actually the Body and Blood of Christ, contradicting what Christ Himself said. If other Christians want to feel offended that they can't receive the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, they should look inward to find out why they view it with such a lack of reverence.

I don't feel offended with observing the Roman Catholic rules when I attend a wedding or funeral that has communion. I think what Roman Catholic relatives and friends find offensive is how the rule has been expressed by their Roman Catholic priests verbally in a rude way to those who are not Roman Catholic and attending such occasions. Since we are a country of laws and no matter what our faith or lack of faith we observe those laws/rules, we adults can grasp the analogy about obeying the rules of a church politely.

I am a Christian but resent that the Catholic church as humans ban me from receiving the Eucharist. You don't have the authority to judge me, God does! I am saved by Grace, not by works, none of us can earn it by good deeds. By Adam's fall, all are sinful by nature so need a Saviour. As a human being I'm not great and am striving to clean up my act. My moral compass hasn't been up to scratch, learned too much bad stuff from my early life. Phd in hate by age of 11. Became Christian at age 28. Big shock! Immovable object v irresistible force! Yes, we still have a common focus in many aspects of faith and practice. The anglicans and Lutherans DONT have valid Eucharist, however. These forms historically broke with the papacy and lost apostolic succession. Therefore, anyone not in Catholic holy orders cannot perform a valid Eucharistic consecration.

Per the Didache, which predates the RCC, "Do not let anyone eat or drink of your eucharist except those who have been baptized in the name of the Lord." That means that the RCC is wrong to deny Holy Communion to other baptized followers of Christ that believe in transubstantiation.

Well Orthodox cannot receive the Eucharist at a Catholic Church and Catholics cannot receive the Eucharist at an Eastern Orthodox Church. Confessional Lutheran practice closed communion as well for very same reasons. No one likes closed communion but it is a necessary and loving thing to do. Pray for unity, that we may be one.

This view of the Fold, the Flock was not the view of the Church before Vatican II. One was either IN or OUT. That is what is found in Matt 7:21-23 as Jesus is speaking about people who identify as Christians but in His view are not.

I'm glad for your beliefs. Some of us who are not Roman Catholic do not want to participate in the Roman Catholic Communion because of Roman Catholic beliefs and practices, even if the Roman Catholic Church would allow us to participate. Rather than expecting us non-Roman Catholic to understand why not, it is fine to say what your rule is and ask us to honor that without having to explaining why not to us. We go to restaurants and honor rules there. Since you believe this is a greater meal than at restaurants, you can politely ask us to respect your rules and we will.

Some non-Catholics think we are refusing them admittance to a meal, when in fact we are refusing them admittance to the marriage bed. If the Eucharist was just bread then yes, sharing would not be a problem. But the Eucharist IS the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is not a communion meal shared with one another, but an intimate union of Jesus Christ with each of us as His Beloved.

@H Cho My friend if one is saved Christ is in them. One does not receive Christ's body and blood during the breaking of bread for two reasons. One as mentioned before He is already in us. Second is there is no one that can change a wafer and wine into the body and blood of Christ. The "word" of God is the body and blood, and we are to break bread as a reminder of the price Christ paid. The mass will save you from no one, might be a reason that Christ nor the apostles ever said mass.

I come from a line of Protestant Pastors. Was raised very staunch Presbyterian. I'm the only one in mine family who converted and became Roman Catholic, more specifically, Traditional Roman Catholic (Latin Mass and all that). Spiritually yes. The reason being is that you are proclaiming in front of God that you believe that he is truly present in the Eurcharist, that you do not have any mortal sins on your soul separating you from God and believe what the Catholic Church teaches with regard to the Eurcharist. Since you are not Catholic, you don’t truly believe it and thus receiving the body and blood of Christ in an unworthy manner. The communion cup and bread are a celebration and remembrance of Jesus’ work on our behalf. It’s interesting how much of Catholicism reminds me of the first century Judaism that Jesus war Ed his followers. Stumbling block upon stumbling block are put in place. Also, so many Catholic Church members are lulled into thinking that if they do these practices (like the Jews did) that they’ll be accepted by God. Devoting oneself to reading Scripture and doing what Jesus actually said to do are placed second.

So the priest is not a magical shaman. To your next point, the Catholic Church is the reestablishment of the Kingdom of David that encompasses the entire world. With Jesus as our King, the Pope serving as prime minister until Jesus returns, and the bishops serving in the stead of the Apostles. As Jesus told Peter, upon this rock I will build my Church. The Eurcharist, is a memorial meal, true. It is also a perpetual sacrifice that allows us to be fully present with Christ at the Last Supper. This is the fulfillment of the Jewish Passover. So while yes, we believe that Jesus could have been speaking metaphorically, we also believe that he was being literal. There is nothing in the Bible that tells us either way. Finally, all the “extra” stuff, these Sacraments were established by Christ to help us persevere to the end. Simple. God Bless

There are 7 sacraments. Baptism, Penance, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation, Anointing, Marriage and Holy Orders. Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation are considered the Sacraments of Initiation. They're all considered important. Baptism is the beginning (entering Jesus' Church), Confirmation is the commissioning, going forward to do God's work. As in Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came over the Apostles commissioning them to go out to proclaim the Word. They're all important.

The English Word "TRANSUBSTANTIATION" was not written by/through the Context and Meaning of the Word of God (Inspired Holy Scriptures)... This R.C.C. Doctrine/Dogma was not TAUGHT by Christ Jesus through His Apostles... Biblically attested... What was done to the Mass in the name of ecumenism after Vatican 2 is really an abomination. I'm a Traditional Catholic now, where I know things are not compromised (largely (bc of the apparent anti-pope in the Vatican causing all kinds of problems) and there are heresies coming out of the Vatican in the name of ecumenism. I am not judging the interior of any Protestant, bc I do not know what has actually been revealed to another, so only God can judge. But Protestants need to come BACK to the Church, plain and simple, but many have NO idea about catholicism, other than the errors taught by their pastors. What is a full communion in the Catholic Church? What is meant by coming into full communion with the Church? Coming into full communion with the Catholic Church describes the process for entrance into the Catholic Church for already baptized Christians. In most cases, these individuals make a profession of faith but are not baptized again. The Eucharist contains Jesus in the for of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is of Jesus and the Father. The reason for this in Bible is to make unbelievers Christian. So, a true Christian Believer ( having the Holy Spirit) It will not do anything for. You would have to sin and God the Father would have to remove you from the light and Spirit. Then it would make you a Christian again if you truly changed. But normally we repent and return to the light. So you only need to receive the Holy Spirit once.

I just thought of another thing. Before condemning the protestants, do you know protestants leave their place in the church to sit at the communion table ? According to Luke 22 : 29-30 Jesus wants us to sit at His table and eat with us. Luke 22:17 Jesus orders to share the cup with each other. Not only the priest should have the cup. So what have catholics more than protestants ? Protestants obey what Jesus said: share the cup, sit and eat at My table. It's the catholics who don't believe and obey these things. Ah... I am a cradle Catholic, but I have visited Protestant churches with friends. There is no reverance there, when people are watching a "concert" on stage, drinking coffee in church, ect etc. Thus, they do not act appropriately in God's church, before the tabernacle. Yes, we have a closed communion, and the ancient document "The Didache"/Teaching of the 12 apostles says of the Eucharist, "do not give what is holy to dogs". They believe it is a symbol, they should not receive it.

@@stevespeltz9785 it's not a matter of picking and choosing its a matter of what the meaning of the words are...surely when Jesus says He is the door, or He is the bread of Life that came down from heaven etc, or the woman at well saying how can you give me living water to drink the well is too deep, or His disciples say eat and He says He has food you know not of, etc...surely Catholic admit metaphors and symbolic/spiritual meanings in some parts of Scripture while literal in other passages.
