How beautiful, peaceful and holy our life would be if only the human race learned to listen to the guidance and teachings of the Catholic Church. We are provided with so many ways and means to respond with faith, hope and love to Jesus Divine Mercy. Why not work hard and sincerely now like the examples of the Saints, rather than going to purgatory and perhaps suffer for a long period of time? I’m heartily thankful to you, Fr. Chris and to everyone who shared, contributed making this episode on purgatory a guiding light to a new life focus on God.

I am trying to pray it everyday After seeing the Purgatory movie I made a promise to say it and the Saint Gertrude prayer everyday in November So far so good. Lord You see how terribly the souls in Purgatory Suffer from their longing for You and from their intense sorrow for their sins. My heart already longs for you, oh God. In Your Mercy I ask You to let me relieve them and transfer to my heart their longing for You and their sorrow for sins. Let my heart burn with longing for You my God. Please grant me a deep and perfect contrition for my sins for the conversion of all those who do not trust in You and for all poor sinners Amen 🙏

Thank you Father Chris and all involved in the making of these beautiful teachings of our Holy Faith. Barbara's Testimony was very moving esp. regarding her son's tragic death but ultimately wonderful "sacrifice" of himself,for others. I believe in her devotion to the "Divine Mercy" the Lord helped her to forgive the perpetrators of this horrible crime. Also, A Catholic friend of mine just told me her brother committed "suicide." I know your dear Grandmother did too but there is hope, as you said, because God is outside of time. Of course, everyone is in "Shock." I told her to plead for God's Mercy on him.

@jendoe94363 жыл бұрын
I never can understand the uneasiness about Purgatory. It’s meant to prepare us for Heaven and meeting God with our best selves present before Him. If I put in the effort to look nice for people here on earth (such as for interviews, jobs, special occasions, etc) then I am definitely going to make sure I look perfect before God! It’s quite interesting how some people think they only need Jesus in their lives and that God will accept them no matter what. There’s some truth there, but they’re missing the awesomeness of a spiritual community that will help them get to God. Once our time on earth passes, we don’t get a redo. That’s when we realize how much we actually need each other, as God planned humans to be social creatures with the capacity for care and compassion for others. The souls who cannot help themselves now with eventually become us once we’re in the same position. Better to clean up ourselves and help others now when we can, rather than waiting til that moment and agonizing over the distance between us and God. So sorry to hear about Matthew, but moved to tears about his final moments here on earth. Barbara is a strong, beautiful woman for remaining fast to God in her tragedy, especially in the face of such tragedy. I’ll be sure to add Matthew to my prayers 🙏 A mother’s prayers for her child is probably one of the strongest intercessions one can be blessed with. Thank you for this episode, Father Chris! I’m always learning something new, and slowly trying to incorporate DM in my daily live 🙏

Fr. Chris as always you never disappoint. You are truly a teacher and I feel blessed to listen to your talks. You provide much needed guidance and I truly appreciate it. I have a question, in several talks you mention being attached to sin. I am trying to wrap my head around this for better clarity. So for example, if person is a recovered alcoholic and he still has the addiction or desire to drink but he fights the temptation and abstains from drinking for 40 years prior to his death, is he considered attached to the sin? God bless.

Purgatory exists so that souls who love God, but have not yet learned to love with total abandonment to 'redemptive suffering' FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, may finally achieve what they could not achieve while on earth. We are able to help them with our prayers when we are in a state of grace BECAUSE they carry within their souls the Kingdom of God, ("The Kingdom of God is within you," of which we are a part,) and suffer their great desire for God without the fullness of their humanity - being separated from their body, so in our prayers we bring to their aid the fullness of our humanity, which they experience mystically by being made, in their spiritual state, SO KEENLY AWARE of the fullness of the Kingdom of God. This is meant to say that in a way which we cannot fully understand yet, they FEEL within themselves the FULLNESS of our humanity, and suffer with us not only their great desire to be with God, but suffer too our still corrupted humanity as we ourselves suffer our desire to be with God. Thus, they learn well in purgatory how to suffer for love of God and neighbor.

Question I just read and heard that st theres Liseiux said that godisinsukted if we doubt we would go straight to Heaven. @@joshdalf9493 , Hello. In the book "33 Days to Merciful Love", St. Thérèse teaches that if we follow the Little Way of Recognising our brokenness, trying to be holy AND completely trusting God, there is "No Purgatory" (that's a chapter title in the book). Indeed, God is saddened that in spite of all the things He's done for us, we still believe that we can still go to Purgatory. It's like Him asking us: What more must I do for YOU to believe (and not reject My Mercy.) The nun referred to in the comment was Sr. Febronie, who doubted St. Thérèse and later visited her in a vision/dream asking her prayers and affirming she was right.

7:00 - - I don't believe Matt 5.25 is about Purgatory. Its about settling with your adversary quickly rather than going to court: 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny. (Everything else on this discussion about Purgatory is great otherwise!)
