I loved Puss in Boots The Last they perfectly handled PTSD, the dark undertones, and I have never laugh so much at any movie until this came out

It was a freaking Puss In Boots sequel in a seemingly dead franchise. It didn't need to be the best movie in the Shrek universe.

Honestly, the first Puss in Boots is underrated. The second one's a masterpiece, obviously, but I went back to rewatch the original in preparation for the Last Wish and I forgot how genuinely GOOD it was. Everyone go rewatch that one to, I was expecting it to be so mid but it's a very good, solid film.

I think that a couple of other things that make the Puss in Boots series stand out among spin-offs, is one, there is a distinct tonal and thematic difference between it and the main Shrek series, and two, it managed to attract its own fanbase, apart from the main series (even if it is a smaller one). Fun fact: Although the overall box office earnings of the first film were greater than the sequel, the sequel earned more from North America alone than its predecessor. About 4/5 of the first film's earnings came from outside of North America.

I'm sad the Puss in Boots series was not mentioned. It was one of the funniest children series I've ever seen.

I agree. I am especially grateful that it had a spectacular ending because so many showed are canceled and drop off the planet now.

1:40 I actually like Cars 2 and Mater's personality is very relatable to me.
@williehampton38558 ай бұрын
It's really a guilty pleasure for me. Mater was an odd choice to be the main focus of a spy comedy but his oafish personality didn't bother me that much. He still behaved like his usual self without having the need for him to be written as mean, obnoxious, insufferable or petulant. He's still a happy-go-lucky good natured fellow deep down in his chassis, despite being a bit of a dunce. But admittedly, Mater gets docked a few points for that because Puss in Boots is a better fit for his own spin-off movie. Even though he started off as a comedy relief sidekick, his swashbuckling heroic attitude still remained intact by the time we get to his film series. They played with his bravado and used it for laughs while simultaneously giving him depth to his character, just as layered as Shrek. Something that Mater and especially Kronk don't have.

@@Kaboom3739 I was once in the same boat as the people who hate it. But then I had to look back and wonder "Do I really hate it because people are that cynical about the Cars franchise and that they're right?" After asking that question, I came to the conclusion and said to myself, "No, I don't."

I can see Puss teaching Shrek a really important lesson via calling back to what he went through in Last Wish. Thing is, I think Shrek already learned that in the 4th movie. The desiring of the "good old days" and what sacrifice that actually would be to get back. If Shrek 4 didn't exist, I think Puss would have been a side character, but an extremely pivotal one and the guide ultimately for Shrek realizing what he loses by being blinded by nostalgia. Could have even had a very cheeky part where Shrek gives a heart felt speech about appreciating the now and not trying to run back to the past and Puss goes "I could have told you that." maybe even a joke about how if Shrek had opened up to him and talked at the beginning of the film, the entire film wouldn't have taken place. A sort of, sometimes you gotta learn the hard way, lesson and a secondary lesson about opening up to people you trust to talk about your problems.

Out the gate, I agree. Puss and Boots is one of the best & most successful spinoffs created. In regards to Pixar, all sequels focus on side or secondary main characters. Toy Story 2 centered more on Woody whereas Toy Story 1 centered more on Buzz. Incredibles 2 focused on Mrs. Incredible in contrast to Incredibles 1 with Mr. Incredible. Monsters University, Mike Wazowski; Monsters Inc., Sulley. Finding Nemo, Marlin; Finding Dory, Dory. Thus Cars 2 focusing on Mater makes sense. While I really like Cars 2, I agree that the spy plot goes totally left field of what you'd expect from a Cars sequel. 1:53 How dare you insult Mater? 😅 The movie calls out Mater's silliness, however it goes the opposite route of Puss. 0:10 Since there was a spinoff show for the Penguins of Madagascar, of the same name, it's not surprising it got a movie. I can see why some wouldn't like it in comparison to the penguins' main appearances. 0:57 How dare you insult Kronk's New Groove? 😅 0:01 Lightyear is a masterpiece, you cannot change my mind.
