As someone who has been playing the game pretty much since its beginnings, I couldn't be more thankful to Hearthstone's og content creators like Reynad, Amaz, Trump, Firebat, Kripp and many others. I leaned so much through to their content, it was sad to see them all leave the game one by one, but even if they've moved on to other things, I only wish them the best.

That early deck he designed, Zoo, took me to legend ranks, and is still usable to this day. That should say something about his deck building skills. 10+ expansions hadn't even been invented and he still created a deck that has maintained power creep.

Love Reynad, but let's not chalk the MTG ban up to breaking a minor rule. He submitted a deck to the tournament, then showed up to play with a deck different than the submitted list. It doesn't matter how minor the difference in deck list may be, that's a huge no. He was DQ'd for a reason. Him being banned is definitely debatable though...

Here's the thing though: in these tournaments your deck is registered by a DIFFERENT player. Reynad didn't submit an erroneous decklist; another player did and Reynad didn't catch it. I believe him. Why would someone go seven years without even a game-loss infraction and Pro Tour qualification at stake suddenly start cheating by adding one uncommon in a Limited-format side event?

@@LizardDude DQ still makes sense to me, even if it's by mistake. You have to punish this kind of infractions even if they are mistakes, because if you won't other people will cheat knowing they have a small chance to get caught and no punishment if they do. You can argue it should be a match loss or something like that, and not DQ, and MTG rules guidelines about this things change from time to time. If they really gave him an 18-months ban for complaining about it on social media - that's stupid.

My favorites were defintely Trump, Kripp and much later Disguised Toast. But Reynad was such a big part of the community when the game just came out, I used to build his decks quite a bit. But it is good to see that he moved on to greener pastures, just like a lot of content creators did. Ever since those times I came back to MTG, as Arena came out, and it has been great :) But it is fun to have a trip down the nostalgia lane with these kinds of videos.

As a magic player, I can say that he got banned for something that was more than a minor cheat. He is infamous for how he got banned. I’m happy that he went on to have a great career in Hearthstone.

Since he didn’t open the card he was blatantly cheating by putting the card in his deck. It was a major cheat and one of the most prolific incidents in the history of magic organized play.

I beat Reynad once when he wasn't streaming in ladder. I only made it to legend 3 times so I was OK at HS and beating him was a pleasant surprise. I think he was just messing around with a new deck and looking for new ideas in his down time.
