This! This must be said! I had to go to the ER multiple times before anyone took me seriously. I dieted. I stopped smoking. I knew it wasn't that! Friggen male doctor telling me it's impossible, but the female doctor right away diagnosed me with Horton migraines! I couldn't stop myself from screaming one day. I punched a light bulb and got my hand hurt badly. I wasn't myself... nobody wanted to help me at first because it turned me aggressive during an episode! Now I have sumatriptan injections. I am a much better human. Screw the doctors that make us diet and stop smoking first. I HATE THEM. One of my eyeballs legit "fell downwards" and my gave was half crooked for awhile. Bastards told me I was faking it. HOW DO YOU FAKE YOUR FACE MELTING?! and why is it always related to "you need to watch what your eating!" did I say bastards? Bastards 😂😂😂😂

Rhett! I have the same eye condition! Mine is a symptom of my autoimmune disorder (Sjogrens syndrome). I saw a dry eye specialist, had similar tests and was given a diagnosis of meibomian gland dysfunction. When I was diagnosed in Dec 2023, they were completely spasmed closed and did not secrete any oil layer. But now, almost a year later of Restasis eye drops have dramatically helped. I also have rosacea, but it has not moved into my eyes. I'm sorry you're also dealing with this. It is frustrating and painful. I hope you're feeling better

I'm so glad you were finally able to get an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment Rhett! It's infuriating when doctors are unwilling or unable to help you and don't really seem to care or take you seriously (ask me how I know/endometriosis.) From certain angles, the duck on Link's shirt looks like an alligator with its mouth open, which makes it even more awesome.

I was an optometry technician for years and saw patients just like you. For most, we recommended thicker eye drops (gel drops or ointments, Systane makes solid options for both) and using an eye mask or skin-safe tape to gently keep the eyes closed at night. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy and physicians will generally avoid invasive treatment with the eyes because there are obviously serious risks.
@thebabythesavage11 күн бұрын
There are prescription drops that can help with Dry Eye Disease if that’s you (and Lumify is safe for redness as well!) if those over the counter treatments don’t work for you.
@Violianom11 күн бұрын
@@thebabythesavage Thank you so much for the reply. I've used an eyemask when I was a teen and I would always throw it across the room in the middle of the night. I should give it a try again. Also, would the thicker eye drops be applied before sleeping? I wear daily contacts and use eye drops multiple times a day. When I wear glasses they are fine.

Afrin Nasal Spray also has a horrific rebound effect. People get addicted to it for DECADES. My dad was. He had to use it every few hours or he got severe congestion.. after just using it for two days for a cold.. he didn’t even use it more than directed! Never ever use Afrin or anything with its active ingredient. Instead, opt for Flonase or Nasacort (or the generic of either) and a decongestant you take orally. If you’re already addicted to Afrin, you can buy saline, nasacort (because the top comes off easier), and the Afrin. Every day you add more and more saline to it until you’re using pretty much only saline. Some also add the nasacort some use it in conjunction with the saline and Afrin mixture. If for some chance the person is stubbornly determined or medically required to go cold turkey, doing one nostril at a time can help some deal with it better. 2-4 weeks of one nostril clogged is better than 2-4 weeks of both clogged.

I nearly lost my vision a few years ago due to severely dry eyes, caused by an autoimmune condition. I went from 20/15 vision with glasses and contacts to literally 1 letter on the eye chart away from being illegal to drive. My corneas were splintering because they were so dry. My doctor told me she could fix the problem itself, but she couldn't guarantee my vision would come back. Thankfully it did, but I have to take very good care of my eyes to make sure they don't get that bad again. The issue there is that a lot of the treatments are OTC, so insurance, of course, doesn't cover them. I'm fortunate to make good money, so it's not as much of a problem as it would've been a few years ago, but it's still not cheap.

Gross? Yes...but thanks for sharing, Rhett! I have had dry eyes for yeeeeaaaars. People who've never experienced this don't realize how incredibly difficult it is to deal with. Rhett, I’m in a similar boat as you just about a year later. I have ocular + facial rosacea and my glands don’t produce enough moisture. I have had very similar treatments at my dry eye clinic in Canada. They told me it’s always a combo of drops/treatments etc. that helps and it depends on the person. Trial and error unfortunately. I’ve found IPL does help after a couple of treatments. I have an electric heated eye mask just from Amazon that I like better than the hot compress. I could go on all day lol, but it was nice to hear someone else talk about it.

The third wheeling in a relationship is not that uncommon in asian households, I've known a few people who get married and still have one unmarried sibling staying with them including my own, especially if they live in the family home. When my dad got a house, he allowed my aunt to live with him rent free in what was meant to be the guest bedroom for 2.5 decades. Sadly she passed away recently but yeah that didn't seem weird to me at all, and it's nice living with someone who already knows your quirks.

It's getting rare to find a real doctor who is in it to help patients, they're just in it for the money. Most choose not to further educate themselves so again they won't go out of their way to figure out what is going on, which is sweet for them because they still get paid for doing nothing. I had a infection for 25 yrs that I knew wasn't normal. I went to doctors but they'd say "yeah, I don't know." They sometimes suggested an OTC med. After doing some research on my own, I went to a new doctor and told them my symptoms and what I thought I had. The doctor tested me for that and was amazed no other doctor caught it, she asked if they had examined me, I told her they had but they'd say they had no idea. She Rx'd the med that cured it. The thing is that this was a very common infection so it shouldn't have been so difficult for any doctor to pass up. Most doctors are duds ad this doesn't have to do with having the best insurance. you just have to be your own advocate.
