Thank you Fluump, because of you I downloaded rocket league again, I thought the game was meant to be played like how you see the bronzes play, lol we laugh at them but they are having more fun than us cos they are just having fun and learning the game while we sweat every match. When I first played rl in my cusies house, we would just mess about, (I even got my ps4 just to play rl cos it wasn't on ps3 and I didn't know about sarp) and we would just drive on the walls and wander in the air cos we could, I felt free in rl cos you can do things that are not possible in other games like this one. One day, I searched up rocket league on youtube cos I was bored and the game was just sitting there on my ps4, I was very bored because there weren't many good games on the ps4 compared to my games on ps3, (I'm a cod fan so you would know what I mean by the games back then and now). The first vid that showed up was by you, since then I have been playing Rocket League a lot more than cod and spend some time watching other rocket league content creators. So thanj you Fluump for introducing me to this beautiful game.

Graduated 4 years ago, I come from many high school sports. Nowadays, I still love going to a park or gym, and getting some pickup basketball games. I think rocket league truly captures how it feels to express your skills and experience in a competitive setting. Which is almost a direct comparison with pickup basketball in my opinion, minus the physical workout. And freeplay, is so Zen. After adopting bakkesmod into my training , it feels like I have a coach guiding my practices, rather than me fighting against the grain of training playlists. I sound like the crazy guy when I tell people rocket league is like an art and is so expressive and can bring so many people together. I love helping newer or less skilled players sharpen their skills. I love when a better player is on the opposite side of the field or, even better, wants to party up with me, becuase I know it'll make me better. No matter where you are on your rocket league journey, make friends, have fun, and practice your mechanics Bois it's gunna be a fun ride 👊🏎️❤️ Thanks fluump this video was needed in my life❤️

To expand on this a little bit, the biggest thing sports games lack in are the intricacies of the real life game, especially a game like madden as well as the physics, no matter how much you try you can't get it perfect. Rocket League excels because it defines its own physics and has its own unique things that aren't emulating real life. I have been at the highest level of football (NFL) and the idea that Madden is any kind of realistic is honestly more frustrating than anything.

I have never ever stuck with a game for more than a month. I beat the campaign and 100% achievements and quit forever. About 6 months ago I finally decided to play the game I've heard about for years and haven't been able to stop since even with limited time and a busy schedule. I would love to be where you are but it takes time. Hope you do go the distance, can't wait to root for you in rlcs

Fulton Earheart Thank you for the reply! I can understand the whole “there’s no good games anymore” feeling. That’s where my brother is at right now. There’s no game for him right now that stands out and brings him back. He just plays whatevs now. To be fair I’m 18 and in college and haven’t worked too many jobs. You are probably not in as forgiving situation with work and family that allows you to put in as much time as I have. By the time I got to college I had already been playing the game for 3 years while I’ve been in High school. You know how it is with us kids. We just have so much time it’s kind of unfair. I respect all of the people who need to go to their 8-5 everyday to live because frankly I haven’t gotten to that point yet. I’m glad you are happy with the game you are playing right now. It’s a nice feeling to have something to come back to everyday after you’re tired from work or are depressed. And when it comes to being GC in Rocket League. I do believe that being in the top 1% of any game is an honor, but it takes a lot of time. Now that their is so much education content for Rocket League, I feel new players have more access to tips on getting better. I was constantly searching KZbin in the early 2016 days of RL to try and get better, but not everyone knew then know what we know now. It has been a long journey, but I have 100% confidence that anyone can be a GC in Rocket League is you put in the practice, time, and get the right advice. Just keep playing everyday and have fun and you’ll be surprised where you end up. Improving at any game takes that moment to think to yourself “ I want to get better at this game, I’m ready, I want it”. This is what I thought when I was diamond 3 and I still felt that I wanted to get better and instead of quitting I kept playing, kept practicing, and kept having fun. And a few seasons later, I’m now a GC and it was an achievement. Thank you for reading.

For me there are 3 main reasons why i fell in love with Rocket League. 1. The possibilities are endless - sure, the same thing can be said about games like LoL or CS:GO, but whats different in RL is the fact, that you are moving in a 3D Space. You can shoot the ball nearly any angle from everywhere. Theres also so much going on at all times. Do you wait for the opponent to make a move? Do you realize there's no way to hit that ball faster than your opponent? Do you jump from the wall, air roll, boost and dodge to hit the ball before your opponent does? All while analyzing where the ball and the other players are going in the 3D stadium. 2. Rocket League is the fairest team-based game I've ever played - how do make a game fairer than RL? Theres no RNG, it all depends on momentum (speed), angles and the resulting power. Theres no fouls. You positioned yourself too far in the front because you thought your teammate might get a good pass, but the enemies challenge and clear the ball onto your open net? Your fault for not respecting the possibility of that happening. And after a goal? Everything just gets reset. Both teams back to mirrored starting positions, everyone with 34 boost. And from my experience: it really has an impact on the community. Take LoL as an example: You throw your lane so the enemy laner just snowballs and wins the game. Many people start blaming someone for "losing the matchup (e.g. even though you "countered" them). And personally - I can understand that. You're trapped in a game for a minimum of 15 or 20 mins. Theres nowhere to go if you don't want to leave and get AFK penalty. In RL most of the players are really polite. You didn't quite get the save, so you say "My bad..." in quick-chat. Most people will just respond with "No problem." and continue playing. Theres hardly any tilters or intentional throwers (from my experience). And i think the reason for all this is, because RL is just as fair as a game can be. Plus a match is only 5 mins long, so if you lose just hop in the next match. 3. It never gets boring, even though no new mechanics are actively added to the game. RL has been the same from the start. Sure there were some tweaks and changes (e.g. individual car hitboxes, R.I.P.), but in its core, RL didn't change much. Still, tons of new mechanics and strategies are discovered and implemented into the general way of playing the game. Thank you, if you read all of this. Just felt like I had to share my opinion here :) Keep up the quality content FLuuMP!
@ivantolosana55944 жыл бұрын
Yh invdividual car hitbixes were cool, but they implemented because people werent using other cars, they mostly used octane, also, it added a pay to win factor on cars like the batmobile when it was first added, man, if you dodged into the ball with that car back then, the speed was unreal 😂
@LeoAr374 жыл бұрын

FluuMP, this captures so much of what drew me in and made me love this game. As someone who used to play a lot of FIFA, not feeling like I was in control of exactly what was happening on the pitch was a huge frustration. Even after switching to "manual" controls (yes, the default in FIFA is basically assisted in terms of power and placement of passing and shooting, and the majority of the player base never change it), it still felt like pressing/holding a button and pointing a stick in the right direction didn't really do the game of football, which I love so much, any kind of justice. In stepped Rocket League, and although I wasn't in control at first (I'm still not completely in control now tbh xD), it felt so much more rewarding knowing that my precision and decisions were directly influencing the ball and the outcome of the game. I could say so much more but this has already turned in to quite the missive. Honestly, great job, great video, one of my favourite you've ever made. Keep it up

I can't believe I'm just now finding this video. I've been playing RL since 2016 and it's really the ONLY game I play consistently. I'm not even that good (Low Champ). But I keep coming back to it because the game is so unique, it is because it's more like a sport than a video game in the way the individual player has to control every situation they are involved in, or even if they get involved or not. But it's scifi enough that it defies the actual laws of physics which prevent cars from actually moving the way they do in RL. I love this game and you do such a great job of explaining why it's such a novel gaming experience, and one that people can keep coming back to for years and years the same way that someone who loves basketball will always enjoy a pickup game at the gym.

I switched to Fortnite in 2017 and got really good. But what got me back into RL was the pure skill needed to play it at the highest level. In Fortnite, you can be good, but there’s always some crazy luck involved and a lot of it is RNG. In RL, there’s still luck of course, but you need skill to be able to win and work with your teammates. It truly feels like a real sport because if you’re good enough, you can control the ball however you want and set up plays. Another great thing about this game is that it is consistent. The physics never change and the game will always work the same, but mechanics and strategy advances and the game just becomes more and more complex, which I love, and it’s just going to continue to evolve. There’s just so much strategy involved and the different levels of gameplay in each rank really show this. I just got grand champ for the first time and I’m looking forward to grinding RL even more.

Honestly, I love the game for the same reason you do. The simplicity yet the depth that the creators have managed to pack into this game is completely unrivaled. You can have so much fun, or you can take it super seriously. You can look at it as a simple hitting a balling around goofy game to play with the boys or you can look at it as a full on esport that you can earn money from and that takes years to master. Either way it doesn’t matter because the developers have made it so perfect for anyone with any skill level or mindset to hop in and have fun.

I am a pretty big gamer and I have played many online games hundreds and in some cases even thousands of hours, ranging from shooters to strategical games to sports games to racing games etc. I have been in the 0.05% worldwide leaderboards, rankings and/or MMR in 4 different games and I have to confirm that Rocket League was BY FAR, for me personally, the hardest game to master. I currently have over 5K hours of gameplay and I feel I could play another 20K more and be able to improve every single day. I love this game because : - The skill curve level feels like it's unlimited and every single game you play you become a better and more skillful player. (compare to many professional games where I feel there is a peak that pros reach) - It's never over until it's over … pop that ball in the air at 0:00 when the score is 3-2 for the opposing team and somehow ... you become 20x time more focus and skillful all of a sudden. - Every 3 months a new mechanic is being discovered even though the game is 4 years old. (Half flip, Musty Flick, Kuxir pinch, wave dashing, ceiling wave dashing, flip reset, flip cancel, fast kickoffs, etc.) - When you whiff and a random opponents spams What a save! and starts thrashtalking, you can destroy them and make them RQ in the worst shame. - This game makes us live moments like the legendary : THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE! after Jstin's goal -This games makes your brain bleed and your opponents have ceizure. Intentional whiffs, air control into air bump, let the baby roll and go for demo, fake the shot, make them whiff half the field and let them watch the ball slowly go in their net on ball cam. - There are 3 pixels alive on the goal line and somehow the ball didn't blow up and you get another chance. - The feeling you have when you reach that new logo division for the very first time (Your first Gold, your first Diamond, your first GC …) is unreal. - When you are bored of the regular game you can play with Mike Tyson gloves, weird freaking purple plungers have tornados all over the place or even have your car turn into porcupine. - 100's of other reasons. Rocket league is simply the best and most underrated game, period.

Why I love rocket league: 1. the game can be played to whatever pace you want it to be played at. You can mess around with friends, sweat your ass off or just screw around in casual. 2. There is always something to get good at. You can put in 10-100 hours depending on what mechanic you want to learn/master and once you get “done” with that there is always a bigger fish in the pond. 3. Game sessions. When I play RL I know I have full control over how much time I play. 1 hour training session, ez. I have 15 minutes to spare 2 games ez. 4. It feels like a real sport. As a basketball player myself I can say RL feels the same way. You work on 3s but not layups, you become a perimeter threat but can’t score to well too close to the basket so your defender will try to make you cut. In RL you see the Pearson’s play style and what they can/can’t do. So you adapt accordingly. Same goes for competitiveness, hours=skill etc. 5. The physics and overall non realistic realism (jet engines in the back of cars) just gives the game a good feel 6. This game is a blast to play with friends (this relates back to 1 but I wanted to give it its own section) you can just play chill and laugh and talk. You can freestyle 1v1. You can grind ranked or coach each other all while communicating with other people and having fun (unless you solo que that’s a different story) Edit: it only costs $20 and there is a “battle pass” that is 100% worth it, what are you waiting for. Buy it if you haven’t already.

I love the sheer toughness of this game. Like you stated, the levels of this game is just crazy. From starting thee game, seeing what people to do and trying to do it yourself. When you fail, it actually feels like you have something to work towards, which is the reason which brings me back. The feeling of flying gracefully through the air is something no COD or Fortnite can even think about grasping. This game is truly one of a kind and after 2500 hours, I can finally say I've reached my peak as a Grand Champion. To those who are struggling in this game, wonder how to do stuff. Just know that nobody ever had success without failure, look at those failures and realize what you're doing wrong.

By far the thing that pulls me into a game the most is the random features that can bring so much mechanical skill. For me at first it was fortnite. The building aspect and editing is soooo in depth that still 3 years later people are finding new tactics. And after playing for ages ik what it feels like to be good at something. I placed top 10,000 in a tourney with other 1,000,000 players and it feels so weird to know that your in the top 1%. Be no able to effortlessly bulls and edit whilst you see your friends struggle to even edit a tile just feels so weird. So being newish to rocket league I just can’t wait to be able to flick and ceiling shot like I can build and edit in fortnite. And even though it may take months or even years and hours in training packs and 1s. I’m ready.

I was playing fifa 20 until my defender did something really stupid and I raged and me and my friend agreed to go on rocket league for nostalgias sake. When I played my first game I was really bad but enjoyed it because it was ME who was bad, not the CPU, making me play more coz I could own my mistake. Rocket League is the closest we have ever gotten to a perfect video game, if it isn't perfect already. It is simple but it is also complex. It hard to learn and hard to master. There's no hacking because the game is so incredibly skill based, that even if you had a hack for infinite boost or something of the sort, you still have to know how to use the boost and how to position yourself. The customization of your car, the fact that it has a casual and competitive feel to it at the same time, and of course, it really feels like a sport. This game is incredible.

I’m so glad somebody final made a video like this that truly sums it all up. I remember when I bought this game in 2016, it was so different from anything else I had ever played. I remember being so proud of myself for small things, like learning how to fly to a point accurately, figuring out how to position myself to land on the wall instead of spiraling down and getting scored on, and I remember how amazing it felt when I got my first amazing flick or aerial goal. Although, before all of that, I remember getting dunked on by everybody I played early on, and even giving up for a few months, but then I came back, and man, I am so glad I did, I’ve probably gotten another 250 hours over the last 2 months, because I always hop on at any chance I get.

I have so much to say about this. First off you left out one of the greatest aspects of this sport: all these mechanics happen for as many as 8 people in real time. I’m an old guy (51) and remember Unreal Tournament, the engine RL runs on. If you had told us 20 years ago when we were playing Unreal on a LAN that it would be possible to have this level of connectivity and speed over the web, we’d have told you you were crazy. It’s the biggest factor in the game feeling like a sport; it’s not just how fast you are inputting from your controller, it’s that you’re seeing the other 5 players on the field in real time as well. The technology needed to have that fluid of an experience took two decades to develop. It’s literally the most amazing part of the game and what really makes it like a sport. A ball, two goals and a field are all good and well, but without the real-time interaction, it would still just feel like a video game. I have 4000 hours and I am a Diamond and I honestly could not care less. After gaming for 35 years, this is the game I waited my entire life for. The skill ceiling keeps going up and we all keep chasing it. The possibilities of mechanics are likely still in their infancy and I will play this game until they rip the controller from my cold, dead hands. I still play at least 3 hours 7 days a week and have no plans of ever stopping. On top of all that, the people I’ve met. Content creators like you, Sunless, Musty, Sledge, Wayton and Link and streamers like Neato, TraumaLlama and Zaeron have all been amazing people. The game is pure. It levels the playing field for age, gender and nationality and has the potential to take sports into a new era, where competition is all about skill and not physical stature, strength or athletic ability.

I think I’m addition to everything mentioned here. The game is extremely accessible. The only thing preventing someone from becoming GC or even going pro, realistically, is the $20 price point and lack of time to play it. The sheer amount of free content ingame and online is staggering. When you see one of the pros do something incredible in a match you think to yourself, I could do that. You don’t have to grind the gym to get in shape, condition so you can run longer, risk hurting yourself physically and watching all the hard work you put in get washed down the drain. None of that. It’s just you, a controller, a ball, and a goal to score on. It’s the freedom, that Rocket league gives to you from inside your home that makes it so special. It’s the feeling that through hard work, persistence and perseverance that you too can be good. Thank you for this video FLuuMP. You articulated what I couldn’t. I look forward to your projects and videos in the future.

My son loves cars. I just happened to be scrolling for a new game a couple months ago and he pointed it out. I’m seriously hooked. I’m a garbage player by a lot of standards. I only gold 1 in 2&3’s right now. But when you get real positive team mates you just do better. You try better. You learn. Just like a real sport. Teams suck when the environment is toxic or someone feels like they’re doing all the work. Teams do amazing when you can appreciate someone’s talent and effort from both sides of the field.

I’m a brand new player. I played it when it first came out years ago and I enjoyed it but after a short while I deleted it and haven’t looked back until a week ago. After recently being bored with the games I’ve been playing in recent years, Fortnite, Apex Legends, The Division 1 and 2, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Overwatch etc. Nothing has stuck to me as a game I just absolutely love playing. Then I remembered Rocket League. I downloaded it and I haven’t looked back since. Idk what happened but it just clicked, I love this game. What I find special about this game is that it’s both simple and complex. The simplicity is that it’s car soccer but you once you get into the higher rank/pro level where it gets complicated and you see cars flying and jumping off walls. There’s definitely a steep learning curve to those who dedicate their time to the game and I can definitely see the improvements in my play in just the short week I’ve got under my belt.

As an experienced player who has played since season 3, I'd say the hardest part of playing rocket league is the beginning. It's very hard to control your car and make it behave like you want it too. This can be very frustrating I know. But once you start being able to let the car do what you want, it becomes insanely satisfying making aerial hits and to put shots on goal. And from that point on, the game gets more fun and more fun cause you can start practising stuff that's a bit more mechanical, and after that even more stuff, in fact you can never stop learning new things at this game and that's what's so great about it for me, there is literally no summit in skills. It just gets more and more satisfying... So to all the beginning people out there: Please just stick around for a while, mess around in free play or with training packs, you'll have so much fun!
