I'm Romanian and we Have a saying in my family: if i have a sandwich and you have nothing... It means we both have half of sandwich! The comunist regime destroyed so much of our traditions and way of life and how we treat our neighbours! But seeing your video, i got my faith back! Seems like we didn't lose it All. We still need time... We're still cold and scared after 30 Years from the fall of comunism but we Are Hopefull!! Seems like real romanian culture endured and it's growing back.

I'm Romanian and I'm pleasantly surprised by how accurately these people portrayed us, it seemed to me our treats as a nation are not so much visible to the exterior. I'm really glad, considering most of the times we get undeserved bad publicity. Funny fact: in my childhood, if I would skip a bite of bread while having my meals my mom would always say to me "manca cu pita", which means "eat it with bread" :D

Many may not know this, or appreciate it sufficiently, but the Romanians are a warm hearted, passionate, romantic and artistic Latin people. Romanians are a different kind of Latin, with a Byzantine twist - not Catholic, but Orthodox. The Romanian language is closer to Latin in its basic grammatical structure, but further away from Latin in its vocabulary, where a lot of the words have drifted into it from other neighboring countries like Greece, Turkey, and the Slavic countries. Heck - even words for common vegetables - Cartof for potato, Morcov for carrot, for example, drifted into Romanian from Yiddish. Romanians are also great lovers of Nature - there is a Romanian saying that the forest is a brother to all Romanians. I really loved hiking in Romania. I had a Romanian friend, a fellow pan flutist, who tutored me in Romanian history; he said that, while many other neighboring countries invaded, plundered and exploited Romania, the Romans were the only ones who were motivated to give anything back - and so, the Romanians became Latins to honor them.

Story time, legend in 🇷🇴: on the 7th day God called all the people of the world to give them gifts. To the Germans he gave a talent for engineering, to the French he gave a talent for fine arts, to the Japanese he gave discipline etc etc. The day was almost done and at the very end a poor sheeperd came in. With hat in hand he apologized for the late arrival and told God that the roads are bad and his flock got lost. God was at a loss for words because he had no more gifts left. Looking at the poor hard working romanian still smiling and humble he got an ideea! "To you my friend I will give beautiful women and a good heart to fill you house with friends and children. No matter the odds you will laugh and love and endure life's hardships with a gentle soul." I like to tell this story to foreigners to explain why we always laugh, we make friends, love our family above all else, have amazingly beautiful women ... and are always late :)))

It is wonderful living style, it seems there is no much pollution from new technologies. It reminds me our livelihoods when I was a little boy in Tibet. In India at Tushita meditation center I met a beautiful Romania girl in 1997 or 1998 but unfortunately I have lost her contact due to something happened to my email. Her name is Caroline. Maybe the spelling of name is not right! I promised her to keep our contact! Hopefully they keep their traditional style of living with nature. It seems physically hard but I am sure mentally much more happy than highly developed countries with technology. God's blessings to those people forever.

The perfect description of all foods in romania is " sounds like hell but tastes like heaven" another thing you have to keep in mind is that romania was (and still kinda is) a very poor country so we had to adapt, and make food out of everything we could and season them with garlic and spices to make it taste better. All traditional romanian foods are made with cheap ingredients or ingredients that someone can take from his own farm. Also the lack of sugar in cakes is because sugar was pricey so instead we added rom to make it better. The reason why we have good bread is because we used to eat bread to actually full ourselves in a cheap way . Bread is the cheapest thing you can buy and make you feel full like you had a whole meal. Then of course, communism fell but people's behavoire remained. Also now we do eat a lot and have huge meals but usually are very balanced and healthy. When the guy said that the sweets in romania are not that sweet to what he is used to i was like "even as a child i could not eat an entire piece of cake because i thought it was too sweet". Now the thing about "curentul" . In romania the weather is cold most of the time, so we try to protect ourselves. You know the air flow that it is made when you open 2 windows in the same room or when you drive a car with your window open? That is cold air that make old people thing it will get you a cold or bone pains later in life . I cannot tell 100% if that is true, but i have to admit that the air here is so much colder even in summer time. Also the thing that girls or women should not sit on the ground in 100%real. Because the ground is cold and every time i am on my period i have bad cramps when sitting on cold. And i actually have leg bones pains sometimes because i always walk barefoot in the house ( another thing in romania , especially in the moutain region, if you dare to step in someone's house and refuse to wear house slippers , you will be obligated by them) . It is a thing called " a intra frigul in oase" which means "the cold entered in your bones " and is real

In romania if we are like at that age when,, you need to move" and you say to your parent that you want to move he/she will be so ofended, like u insulted him/her or something

there are 2 types of romanians: 1. the ones you talked about 2. the "bombarieri" which are all the way around

De fapt doar cei despre care s-a vorbit in acest video sunt romani. Ceilalti, adica bombardierii, nu sunt romani... Probabil acestia reprezinta o specie extraterestra neinteleasa de pe alta planeta.
