This is the best interview I've seen of Ronny, but like not at all because Andrew was a good interviewer-lmfao Ronny was so correct that Andrew wasn't really listening to his answers and just kept asking questions and never seemed to ask follow-up questions. I think just because they appear to be friends, Ronny seemed more comfortable and less combative/harsh as in other interviews

Based on this interview along, I don't think Andrew is that great an interviewer - a friendly-aggressive banter between friends don't make a great interview overall, especially when the interviewer constantlyl tries to cut off the interviewee while he's trying to answer something. It reminds me of a certain orange buffoon and his way of trying to be the center of attention to everyone. But Ronny is great, and yeah it's great to see him in a more relaxed environment and not in his media persona when answering interview questions!

@@Hyper_V "especially when the interviewer constantlyl tries to cut off the interviewee while he's trying to answer something. " That's not the core issue. The core issue is that they're friends; this leads to them both constantly talking over one another. It's clearly their normal manner of interaction, which is fine for friends having a chat, but doesn't work for a 'professional' interview.

The jaded Asian American vs the appreciative Asian Immigrant. Ronny doesent give a F about Andrew's negative USA thinking. I agree with Ronny. Its worrisome that Americans are turning against Pros & Experts, & support the loud "Average Joe" types now. David Fung was also right when he basically said "American Liberalism and Conservatism are just the insane versions of them".
@x0102118 күн бұрын
As an Asian American (of the brown variety) it seems like our overly appreciative immigrant brothers are sometimes naive (just giving that as a counter to AsAms being “jaded”). Sure America is great, but China is way safer and has stronger family values. When I see a Chinese immigrant praising the US for “democracy,” I want to ask if you can buy some baozi with a free press? Or will free elections protect your kids from pedos and shooters?

Ronny's very cool, love his humor, he's by far the funniest and sharpest on the Daily Show, the others are far, far behind. Being Asian, Ronny needs to be 100x better than anyone else in order to reach the same level. It's weird he and Andrew are bickering here, but I get it. It didn't go so well with Ronny and Jimmy O. Yang, either. I think this is a case of a fairly polite Asian who immigrated as a young adult vs. a "cooler-acting" ABC or 1.5. Ronny is faux-aggressive in his comedy style, like Bill Burr, but in person, he's probably very polite and sweet, with a softer vibe, the way most immigrants are. That's the way they are in Asia. I kind of get the dynamics between these two. It doesn't even have to be between an ABC and immigrant. It can be between any two Asian Americans where one is more overtly "cool," like Andrew, and one is more dorky/plain. Andrew is talking over Ronny, acting pretty aggressive, and this is the same as how non-Asians or other Asians (e.g., "cooler" Vietnamese Americans) act towards the Fung Bros. Andrew has a more confident vibe than David, who seems a little nicer and sweeter, vaguely. Ronny is an immigrant, so he doesn't really care how some ABCs like Andrew act towards him, he wasn't born and raised in the West, so he can brush anything off. I think there's a similar painful dynamic between TwoSet Violin (Brett Yang & Eddy Chen) and Ray Chen, though they're all born in Taiwan, and immigrated to Brisbane, Australia at a young age. And they're all famous violinists who have a strong online presence. Brett & Eddy are more genuine and dorky-looking, while Ray is more conventionally handsome, with a "smooth" vibe. So Ray's going to look down on and bully Brett & Eddy, and they have nothing but deep respect towards everyone, including Ray. They had a falling out with Ray that they announced on a recent livestream (they're no longer doing TwoSet videos), and I'm guessing this uneven "cooler Western Asian to less cool ones" dynamic is behind the falling out. It's probably because Ray was bullying them and being difficult and impossible to work with. Unfortunately, "cooler" Western Asians can be almost as rude and stereotyping to some other Asians as non-Asians are. That's why some Asians even in enclaves are bullied and don't get far. By "Asian," I mean mainly ethnic Chinese, and I don't know if what I'm saying applies to other Asian ethnicities as much.

Ronnie just comes across as a bit of a teachers pet like he is not going to bite the hand that feeds him kinda of thing. But maybe that’s due to him not being American. There are definitely comedians like Jon Stewart who are not afraid to rock the boat but he also has the privilege of being American.
