Good that its banned, the runner rule should not have existed in the first place in cricket. No other sport allows that luxury to its players. Runs are the most basic part of cricket, and they have to be run by the batter for whom the runs are getting counted. It provides a clear advantage to the batsman as an unfit player can fake cramps and ask for a runner, someone who is younger and can run faster. Also as rightly said in the video, a batsman might play a pull shot on the backfoot where he is 1 feet inside the crease and might struggle to get a quick single, but with a runner who just has to have his bat inside the crease can complete that run easily, small margins having huge effect on the game.
