I respect this woman so much. Growing up, my mother and grandmother always loved Sally as an actress. I did as well, though I just turned 18, and recently I've been watching things like this, and for some reason she reminds me of myself so deeply. I'm not sure why. She seems so genuine and her story is astounding. God bless this woman.

If she did nothing else but Sybil, she would still be regarded as a brilliant, deeply gifted actress. She took my breath away in that stunning performance and it must have been a haven for some of Sally's own rage and confusion. Ironic she speaks so of pieces, and her Sybil was a mind fragmented, in shattered pieces.

That was beautiful--that conversation; those clear clarifications in response to some assuming questions AND the interviewer's capacity to pivot graciously & follow the storyteller thru the clarifications vs trying to lead/direct her back/to take on his presumptions/interpretations so that he actually came to being genuinely grateful/happy to know HER story/experience, instead--to know & unferstand.. Also, Sally's willingness & patience/graciousness to consider Tom's questions thoughtfully. I appreciate this video being here. Thank you both.

Sally Field is one of our BEST American actresses ever. Period. She brought a genuineness to each role she played. Her work in "Places in the Heart," "Sybil," "Norma Rae," and "Murphy's Romance" is among the very best in cinema and television. And in "Lincoln," she was every bit Daniel Day Lewis' compliment. The filmmakers were LUCKY to have a Mary Todd like her. Ms. Field truly connected with her costars on film. Sally is a TRUE American original. Congratulations to her on a brilliant career and on a life lived in such a classy manner.

This interviewer is not connecting at all with Sally, he's not listening to what she is actually saying. He's very lucky that she is as professional as she is and takes the rough with the not so rough. What a lovely lady, she reminds me a lot of my mum. I guess as the interviewer gets older and matures he might understand a bit more.

Yet again, a young child being abused by her step father and her mother seems to be totally unaware of this terrible situation. How can a 7 year old be abused and the mother not know?????? Sally has had to cope with that and the consequences for the rest of her life. I am sure Hollywood did not reassure her that people are actually kind!!!! Poor woman, you never know what someone is dealing with in their lives.

Josef Fritz of Austria started abusing his daughter Elisabeth at least by age 11 according to her, he locked her in a hidden underground basement at age 18 entered into from a narrow passage of the regular basement. The mother reported her daughter was missing but the cops didn't know why and she had run away at 15 so they thought she had just moved away. Josef kept her a prisoner for over 23 years, he had 7 children by her one died as an infant. He claimed his daughter had joined a cult and pretended three of the children were abandoned and left on his door step and he fostered them. The other 3 and Elisabeth stayed hidden in that secret basement. Social workers visited the house and even renters lived in the house but none of them knew what this guy was doing. It wasn't until he took his older granddaughter that was also his daughter to a hospital for sever medical problem that they even began to figure it out.

Amazing how her name conjures up immediate titles, Forrest Gump, Smokey & The Bandit, Gidget, and even Places In The Heart but NEVER Mrs. Doubtfire. I have always forgotten she starred in that movie. I'm not sure if it's because I felt she was greater in other films, or if Robin Williams was just that powerful. Sally was my first crush when I was 9 going to see Smokey & The Bandit at the theaters the week it was released. She was amazing in the film, Places In The Heart, and the moment I knew she was one of the most underrated actresses in the world. And today, in this interview, I see she is still crush-worthy, an actress from my past that has entertain me. Thanks, Sally, if you ever get to read this.

Sadly, artists are usually tortured souls that find this same kind of safe place in another form of expression, which is sort of a mask they can hide behind and yet still get to experience things that they otherwise wouldn't have. On the other hand, they are not truly authentic experiences and ultimately feel hollow. I'm glad that Sally was able to get some closure with her mother while they were both still alive. This book, to her at least, probably felt like her greatest accomplishment (besides her children) in a life full of accolades and adoration. Very inspirational to see it. I thought the interviewer had thoughtful questions and handled everything respectfully.

It's amazing how this KZbin story has suddenly streamed into my domain this Sunday morning July 25th 2021. I'm sure it is no coincidence. For the past 2 years I've been working on a house plan for an energy efficient remodel of a typical 1100 square foot 1950s bungalow with a full basement. A house I once owned in Edmonton. Getting the design just right has become almost never ending. It's a lot like trying to find the answer to something before dicovering the question. Besides her good looks, Sally Field's appeal to me was how all of her characters seemed to be surrounded by idiots of selfish greed. Here character never knew all the answers, but she could tell when things were not right. "Life is like a bowl of chocolates", are wounded words from someone who got the sour jelly filling. Never the less, she is a fighter with integrity, and that is truly the only important thing that matters. What is wrong is wrong & if nobody is going to fix it, I will!

People, who is the elephant in the room that nobody is talking about? I was set up, and my father and his brothers were too. Did my dad meet Edward VIII, in 1924? That was the year Frank Capon was murdered. I think my great grandmother was important to the Royal Family's interests during that time. I found a gold and ruby plated medallion with a knight on a horse, hidden away in Dad's stuff. Was it a gift? Also; was my dad in Cuba with Errol Flynn and Ernest Hemingway between 39 & 40, right after the making of Robin Hood? If I was writing a story about the mysteries of my father that I never knew, I would say, ya, he probably was. And guess who else probably showed up just when Dad was doing a stupid trick on stage for a bet? Non other than Eddy the 8 Man himself. That's why Ernest girlfriend told him to not go into town anymore. People, you don't erase a person's medical records & then say to everyone who is interested - & I mean everyone was interested - "let's see how this thing turns out", And here's another bet. I bet that is exactly what they said. Who is "they"? The elephant, people! - the RCMP, the police, oh ya, they were always present. Nobody said anything to me. That in itself is manipulation. When we first arrived in Edmonton in the Spring of 58, we were just little kids & we all got sick. I was still a toddler, but before the Summer ended all of us had our tonsils pulled. I was the first in the family to get mine pulled. Dr Mush worked, or once worked for the RCMP. When Dad came back from the States in 61 or 62, he took me to a coffee shop a couple of times. It was an old building that was located right next to the original Edmonton Court House. I remember it. Churchill Square stands there now. When Dad took me to this coffee place, he would say to me that someday when I get into trouble, I should keep coming to a place like this. Five and a half decades later, that is what ended up happening. It wasn't by conscious choice, but by unconscious fate that I was always showing up at a coffee shop in Edmonton. Dad, they were watching and hearing everything that you were doing when you were running around the Middle East and Europe. It's probably why they hurt us. I was hospitalized twice in 58. I was the only child in the family that was born with blonde hair, and kept my blonde hair until the age of 3 or 4. I'm the person who was making up all the stories and songs people. I made up the name Bob Dylan because I didn't think that Eric Barritt sounded like a rock-and-roll folk singer's name. These people are all lying.

A good part of 1940, Dad was only 22. What ever might have happened in Cuba, it would have been a one-two punch. I would say even sorcerous. There are a lot of options for manipulation when you are watching someone all the time. Especially if you are a young man or a young boy. Even the people that come into your circle can be part of the setup. I think this is what happened to me at Broadway Pentecostal Church in Vancouver BC. By the middle of 2000 top members of that church where making me feel unwelcome, and while that was going on there were outside sources that were making it clear to me that they were nosing into Broadway Church. Very highly manipulative. Were the RCMP and Vancouver Police getting involved at Broadway Church at that time?

Unfortunately, what she is talking about comes to many children due to the lack of women that don't look out for their daughters. What she said, about finding an answer to why things happened - I can see there is a sense of desperation for some women due to lack of responsibility for any decisions that she should have been made. That is how I see my past which I thought was a nighbmare until my 60s when a word became a trigger to the old memory.
