Thanks a bunch! Just fixed my Samsung SCX 4825FN thanks to this. In case it helps, I took apart the solenoid from the printer and measure the two foams, to have like a paper template of their tiny sizes. I removed the original foams and cleaned surfaces with alcohol. Then took the cork from a (good Spanish) wine bottle and cutted a very thin slice of cork (about the same thickness than the original foam, maybe a tiny bit thicker). Then I cutted the cork slice with scissors, to match the sizes of original foam pieces (using my tiny paper templates). I prepared just a bit of high temperature epoxy (just in case) and placed a super thin layer on the corks, and glued them to the solenoid. Now I have the printer working, with no noises, and hope cork won't tear off that way.

Its not the small pads becoming "gooey" its the pad on the arm becoming too thin. if the arm gets too close to the metal stop there is enough magnetism to hold it there when the relay actuates, a fix that works well is as follows, 1. remove both pads and clean away any glue. 2. leave the coil pole pad out (its not needed) 3. make a small piece of fibreglass PCB standard thickness (same dimensions as the sticky pad was) file of any solder resist coating and superglue the piece of PCB onto the arm in place where the original pad was. thanks for your video it got me on the right track to fixing my printer :)

This video not only has the DIY value, but also, or even more importantly, an educational one. I respect your attention to not only showing how to fix the problem, but also to explain the logic behind it, so we could actually UNDERSTAND what is going on in the underbellies of our printers :) I appreciate it a lot. Subscribed with pleasure. :) Kudos!

Other ways to probably fix this, with nail polish remover, (disolvent) to reduce sticky, also with alcohol to reduce stickyness, use paper cuts to stick them on the foam, and also buy foam on any paper shop and replace it, also use foot powder, to get rid of sticky, and last but not least get rid of the foam and clean with disolvent, thinner or any other product like it, and also all the previusly mentioned, Thank you for sharing!

Really good information. Thank you. I found this same problem in an SCX-4725 printer. My printer was picking up multiple sheets and sometimes not picking up a sheet properly. Both the foam on the solenoid coil (for when the solenoid lever is in the energized position, or paper feed position) and the foam on the solenoid lever (the de-energized, or rest position) were very sticky. ...I am not clear on the purpose of the foam, but I kind of doubt it is noise or entirely noise. ...The foam on the solenoid coil could be to prevent noise, or to prevent damage to the coil bobbin, or to prevent lever bounce. ...The foam on the solenoid lever could be to prevent noise, but I doubt that. Again, It could be to prevent bounce. ...But possibly the foam tape between the solenoid lever and the solenoid core frame (where the frame stops the solenoid lever travel) ensures that there is an air gap at that point, to ensure a break in the magnetic flux there. That might create same-polarity magnetic-poles there, between the solenoid-frame lever-stop and the lever itself, so that the magnetic poles oppose each other, to create a magnetic push to help the solenoid actuate. This would explain why the lever foam can be eliminated in some printers, because the L-tab of the solenoid lever rides on the cam of the pickup gear, which means that on some printers, there could be an air gap between the solenoid lever and the part of the solenoid frame that stops the lever travel, even without the foam there.

Effectively, my 11 years old scx-4300 was suffering from this issue. I removed the foamy stops and it’s working now. I kept the solenoid and all that’s different now it’s just a click noise which doesn’t bother me at all. I noticed the solenoid is activated for less than a second. That’s why when the foamy stops stuck to the plate it causes the paper puller to grab two sheets leading to paper jam. Thanks a lot for the tip!!

Hi thank ypu for this information. I wrote to you few days ago about a printer not working. I used your instructions to take a part the printer and found 2 disconnected wites and a pickup weel was not samled correctly. The pba print was damaged but I used the sparepart from my second printer 365. After fixed all this my printer is,qorking again, but printer stop when trying to load paper. I have seen your recent video above, but I wonder why this happens after maintainance. The printer was very effective before I made mismash with the pickuproller and no problems only some stribes on the color prints (try to fix it by cleaning the roller). Now I have 2 options. I can take the paper unit from the old printer or can buy a soleoid from HP . What would you do?

Great explanation and indeed, apparently Samsung is not aware that this small defect impacts their image as a producer of reliable printers. Too bad. Of course, this leads to early printer renewal and the related pile of unneccessary printers being sent to the junk yard. Too bad in 2021!!

I have a Samsung Xpress C410W and I have this exact problem! I've never had any issues until now and I've had it for years. Everything was great, just put brand new toners in it and it just stopped loading the paper and tell me there is a paper jam. I have taken out the roller cleaned it, cleaned everything in it, and it still does this.

Probably it's the solenoid, i've a video exactly on the repair procedure for the CLP365/C410
@richardwilliams3215Ай бұрын
commenters don't be too hard on Samsung, it took me a while to work out what was going on, firstly I cleaned both sticky pads away completely then re-tested the solenoid as per the video, to my surprise the solenoid didn't work! when actuated the arm was "sticking" to the stop, if I gave it a slight nudge it clicked across to the coil pole, I then realised it was magnetism and that the arm needed to be at least 1mm away from the stop to work properly hence the fibreglass PCB fix, so over time its not necessarily the original pads getting sticky its that the arm pad gets squashed and too thin, it is surprising though that Samsung have let this ride, they must have worked out what was happening, cynically one might conclude that it takes a few years for the little pad to get too thin, then causing the paper feed to become erratic and soon after to stop feeding, then the customer buys a new printer - so more sales for Samsung I wonder ???

Hi thank you for the video. I have Samsung ml-2525w.It"s not picking up paper, and/or picking-up multiple sheets per print. Do you think I have the same problem: bad solenoid? Thank you
@PaoloMarcelli2 жыл бұрын
Sure! Pick up roller is driven by solenoid, could definitely cause that problem

Thank you for sharing your knoledge , very helpfull. When Selenoide Is bad the printer Will not work at all ? Mine printer a Samsung x press 3875 does prints well after i turn it on but when go to another job i have the error of jam inside machine but there s nothing. This hapens all day long, very anoying being opening front door every Time to get rid of the error. Any idea what it could be? Printer was in a box for 3 years withou any use Thank you
@PaoloMarcelli3 жыл бұрын
That could absolutely be the case! It depends by the position of those pads on the solenoid and the materials they used to make them. If the pad is at a side of the electromagnet and the pad gets sticky, the solenoid could get stuck down (so more than one sheet are picked up). If the pad is on the top, the solenoid could be stuck open so no sheets get picked up and the printer gives you a paper jam. I'd first have a look (if possible) if the pickup roller rotates or not when you try to print something, and eventually replace the solenoid, or at least those two pads.

Ciao, bella spiegazione. Ma in generale sconsigli l'acquisto di stampanti samsung? Volevo prendere una multifunzione m3370fd nuova. Anche lei soffrirà di questo problema?
@PaoloMarcelli3 жыл бұрын

Do you know this to be a problem with the Samsung M4530 printer? We have one that prints fine when printing one-side prints, but when printing in duplex, it reliably jams "at top of duplex" 75% of the time, and the jam has to be cleared out via the rear door. Every time we do this, the paper has one-side printed, so it's always jamming when it goes to print the second side.

Qualche consiglio?Grazie

I've been having the same issue with mine. It seems for me, my printer acts up when not used for awhile. The first few pages do not want to feed through, but then it starts working. Not sure what the cause is. Probably the rollers are worn out or something.

Hi! Watch my video on how to fix the Samsung CLP-365 paper jam, you'll see where it is, how to replace it and where to buy one in the description. If your printer model is different than CLP-360, CLP-365. C410, C430, CLX-3305... theh you need a different solenoid and it depends by the printer model.

On those printers it's not the rollers, but the solenoid in the pickup mechanism. You could even replace the pickup roller with a new one and still have no paper picked up.

It's *deliberate aging of the product* Samsung does it on purpose - I know a lady that works for Samsung and her job is to qualify product materials that should wear off after 2-3 years of usage! NO JOKE. I was a professional printers repair technician and I was using a double sided repair foam tape for it., sometimes thinning it down with a razor to a proper thickness. Do this instead of buying the new solenoid - don't support Samsung for doing this BS to consumers
@PaoloMarcelli Жыл бұрын
I never bought those solenoids directly from Samsung. Honestly at first glance I could have even thought that it wasn't on purpose, but after 10 years of the same problem on the same part...
