Both defenses are elite. The difference? Sherrone Moore saw that his game plan was working and stuck with it. “We’re running and winning. Stop it and we’ll adjust. You’re not going to stop it? Ok.” James Franklin wouldn’t adjust to what seemed obvious to everyone watching the game.

Sorry, but when Michigan basically said that they don't need to pass the ball one single time in the entire 2nd half, I think that's a pretty clear sign that the defense is not elite. I think it's a 'pretty good ' defense and has much speed and athleticism at the 2nd level, and I'll leave it at that....

@@ericmeeuwsen2226 You’re right, you are sorry. This “anything to denigrate Michigan at any cost” schtick is getting tiresome. When Ohio State beats Notre Dame, it’s this major win. (Nevermind that Michigan played Notre Dame 44 times from 1887 to 2019, with a record of 25-17-1, including beating them 45-14 in 2019, causing the Irish to pull out of the rivalry until 2033, but I digress), until Louisville and 4-loss Clemson do it too, and more decisively. When Ohio limps past Penn State in Columbus, it’s this epic, gritty win, despite both teams looking like crap. Michigan stuck it to Penn State. They came up with a plan, went up, never trailed, and ran out the clock with a power run game. Unlike Ohio State, we didn’t give up 186 yards passing and several big plays. James Franklin had to pull QB throwbacks and other chicanery out of his butt just to stay within 2 scores. Did he make some bad offensive calls? Sure, but it’s clear why. He was far more afraid of the Michigan defense in his own stadium than anything the Buckeyes had going on in Columbus. Thats just a fact.

Penn State has 381 players that went to the NFL. Michigan has 401. Ohio State has 485. They aren't exactly backwoods, but the competition is fierce for both players and coaching staff. Not just the head coach but a very good offensive and defensive coordinator. OC and DC problems plagued Michigan even with Harbaugh present in the late '10s. Your point stands, but some respect should go on Penn State's name lol.

It is so infuriating watching this guy "coach". After a surprising victory over Ohio St back in '16 w/Saquon and Trace..there's been so many times where Franklin just drives me absolutely crazy with horrible in-game management. It's like he has no concept of situational awareness. Should have beaten Ohio St in 2017 & '18 . Probably would have gotten into the playoff one of those years if they hadn't blown those games. Yes he can recruit, but I'm sorry...I've seen enough of this guy. They have had some nice bowl wins vs Utah and Washington etc, but they will forever be how Ole Miss is currently in the SEC.. Good enough to beat everyone else, but unable to win the games that matter most. It also doesn't help that the idiots in charge of the Big10 decided to put their three best football programs all in the same division. But anyway...this is Penn St...rich tradition and a huge recruiting area just in state. Let's get someone who can do both , recruit and coach. Please I am begging you!

That's a good point. As a Michigan fan I was very happy he chose to go for 2 in the 1st half. Had he taken the basically free extra point, PSU wouldn't have needed to go for 2 once again late in the game nor kick an onside kick. They could have kicked it deep and potentially stopped Michigan with an opportunity to score a tying TD. I previously said that I thought JF called a good game -- I still think he did, with the exception just discussed. The fumble by Allar was huge! He didn't seem the same after that.

Michigan fan/alum. Penn State could have won this game, regardless of whether Michigan tried to throw or not. The defense was good enough, and they could run the ball. The big differences between Michigan and PSU in this were coaching decisions and key penalties. Frankly, JF is like JH was prior to 2021. He didn't win the big games, either, and we were "stuck" with him because he still would win at least 8 games. Maybe your AD needs to cut his salary and threaten his job like ours did...although, it's kind of too late now because here comes USC, Oregon and Washington. Sorry, Penn State people.

You left out the fact that the 2 point try at the end of the game was a 3 Stooges playground play. Michigan wasn't trying to give it away. The onside kick thing is horrible by many coaches, both college and pro. Field position and the clock are the most important factors in a one-possession game. If you have a couple timeouts and around 2 minutes left, kick (or punt) it deep. If you give it back deep in your own territory, it's game over now.

Going for 2 in the second quarter was bad. Going for 2 in the fourth was correct. If they make it. There is enough time to kickoff and play defense down 7. You know you only need one score. When you don’t make it you know you need two scores, so the onside is required. To play the odds correctly it is better to find out if you are going to make the two early.

I was surprised when they renewed Franklin’s contract a couple years ago. I thought for sure they’d can him that year but instead they gave him a multi-million, 10-yr deal.

Franklin needs to learn what Terry Bradshaw knew is that it's just a game so just go out and give your best and have fun because it's just a game.

Penn state better go get the one coach that can beat both MICHIGAN and osu... Urban Meyer. The guy is MICHIGAN'S kryptonite. Scoop him up before msu does because whoever gets him will be an instant contender for the big10 championship

Penn State University cannot continue with James Franklin. With him, in previous years, his team goes undefeated until Michigan and Ohio State comes along. 10,000,000 salary and is 4-16 against both Ohio State and Michigan. Drew Allar played like Franklin is against Michigan and Ohio State, scared. Franklin can leave and return to Vanderbilt. Something wrong with him.

The game was NEVER for the taking 😂😂😂. Michigan made a choice NOT to pass. This was Michigan making PSU there bitch. 1 pass the entire half is just disrespectful. Michigan dominated the entire game let's be honest.
