Spot on. Whats actually social about this games “social” its the opposite. Either group up in discord with onyx rank hyper sweats who know every single callout and whos gaming addiction means they dont actually know how to enjoy games anymore they simply HAVE to win and there only single priority in their sad lives is their KD, or get absolute washed out every match. Fun halo died, not sure when but I imagine its gone forever now and tbh i blame the state of gaming just as much as i blame 343. The world needs to chill and remember there this stuff is supposed to be fun. Every match isnt mlg

I tend to play games with my wife, and she quit playing with me, due to my invisible MMR being too high. Every time we loaded up a Social playlist, she would not have fun; but in her own lobbies, she could perform well. My friends don't want to play with me because of SBMM, my wife doesn't want to play with me because of SBMM, and I don't want to play my own lobbies, because of SBMM. I quit.

What's more hilarious is the shitheads who complained about teammates leaving in social games so they got 343 to add quit penalties when join-in-progress and bot fill is enabled. I hardly ever quit matches, but god damn people; get your priorities straight. If the SBMM wasn't so damn strict, maybe they'd be more inclined to stay... just a thought.

Fun and interesting video. And yeah, SBMM often doesn't feel like a net positive to casual MP games. Suppose the idea is to prevent the noobs from behing farmed by the sweatcans, but the side effects are that it destroys the casual environment and the satisfying progression in these games. If SBMM's ultimate goal is to have a 50% win rate, with it keeping up with your skill level as you improve, then I don't think your improvement will be very apparent because you will still win ~50% regardless of improvement or deterioration. Your K/D ratio will also be more or less the same. It's funny when you realize how the system works, the next time you get a triple kill, instead of being happy you're just thinking "shit, I did too well and might be punished for it now."

Yep, it's so simple, competitive keeps systems like SBMM, for social they should split it: in a scale from 1 to 10, each player the game deems skilled from 5 to 10 is matched without SBMM, and only based on cumulative team skill score, all players skilled from 1 to 4 in social can keep SBMM so they play between themselves and they are not stomped. It's enough to use a "if" in the code... cumulative skill score is how social worked in Reach, it's nothing new to be implemented!

Halo Infinite is still bad. The challenges for s2 still feel like such a chore (like s1). The players are still overwhelmingly sweaty. It's not fun, kinda depressing too when you think about what could've been. As a decent fps gamer, and Halo player since CE, I can could on 2 hands how many games I've legitimately enjoyed in Infinite... if I were a double arm amputee. Seems like 343 took notes from abusive relationships and implemented that in every facet of this game. We don't wanna go but it hurts to stay.

Hey man, liked the video! Couple things I wanted to mention. First thing, try turning your sensitivity down. Looked a little shaky when aiming at enemies, turning it down may help. Second, Big Team Battle SBMM is de-emphasized in Halo Infinite. That's why it's become my favorite mode. Its the only mode I feel like I can just chill out and play the game. Didn't know if you knew that or not.

Basically what happens is that it can match say 4 average players against 2 high skill with 2 lower skill to balance it out. Your skill level mite be a number from 1 to 100. And the teams will have an overall number. But 2 high skill players can easily stomp 4 average players. It doesn't just match both teams with everyone in the same bracket because matchmaking will be slower.
@humane143imperfection62 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my problem is with its progression and match consistency. I get into one match that's way too easy then one that's just right... then I come back 12 hours later and I feel like I'm playing ranked?? If it scaled in difficulty rather than resetting every few hours for me... it feels broken.
@praisethesun60782 жыл бұрын
You are not alone! Check this match I played was like. My team 24k Me:13k-11d-4a (T1)4k-12d-2a (T2)4k-14d-2a (T3)3k-16d-1a Enemy team 50k (E1)15k-7d-4a (E2)14k-5d-10a (E3)13k-3d-1a (E4)8k-9d-3a Idk how this matching was fair for my random teammates. People say SBMM helps new players. What do you call that game? They put people who were multiple ranks under me most likely gold or platinum and I'm an Onix level and the enemy team was probably 3 diamonds and a Platinum. The game acts like I'm ironman and can carry a team of low ranks. But one diamond can wipe all of those gold to plats. And one Onix doesn't equal 3 diamonds. The entire system is flawed. Social should not be ranked. SBMM tries to make the teams equal but doesn't even know what equal is. That's why it shouldn't exist. Let us join ultra sweats one game and then crush and be the sweat the next game. SBMM just doesn't work.
@CloudRollerFox2 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing someone on Reddit make a post on either casual or ranked and took a look at some site that tracked stats, rank, percentage chance of winning and all that jazz. When he looked at the match he got destroyed in, the stats showed he was the only Diamond, or Onyx, and everyone else was Gold or Platinum, while the enemy team were all Onyx. Wanna know what the percentage chance of the enemy winning was? 100%. Infinite's fucked up SBMM system put this guy and 3 others in a game they had literally no chance of winning. If that doesn't speak volumes of how broken SBMM is in Halo, then idk how else it would be explained

1:23 - Because it's Halo. Halo 2 had only SBMM, specifically an ELO designed system across the entire title wherein the player would receive a rank based in 1-50, which also accommodated for the players you matched in the 3 unranked playlists (Whilst having 12 ranked playlists). Halo 3, as well, had SBMM (True Skill 1), where it was, again, all encompassing through the entire game. In addition, it had 4 unranked playlists to 11 ranked playlists. The 1-50 "Ranking" system determined you played against in both unranked and ranked gameplay. Players who did not level up would go against those who did not, which also allowed "smurfing" to exist -- You could, effectively, buy an Xbox Live 3-month, make a new account, and play in Social (Unranked in Halo 2) to your hearts content dominating players. Halo Reach did not have any form of SBMM. Halo 4 had a mild form, but it was geared less toward skill. Halo 5 had a stricter variation of TrueSkill 2 as seen within Gears of War. Halo Infinite isn't actually Skill Based, although within the same system, it matches players based on their win rate and win percentage, not their skill. You stopped playing Halo Infinite, and got upset at it, because the lack thereof "Skill" based matchmaking. Not the inclusion. The lack thereof. If there was "Skill" based matchmaking, everyone in any lobby you get in would be the same skill level as you, or marginally better or worse; Not extremes of both ends. For example, there wouldn't be a game where one teammatee goes 32 and 10, and another goes 3 and 15. That wouldn't exist. You would have, at an ideal lobby, 13, 13, 12, 12 as far as kill spreads. Not 32, 12, 5 and 1. In addition, let's discuss BTB, where MIntBlitz will have the most credible "belief" and where many obtained this viewpoint and perspective: If a BTB lobby is Team Slayer and the one player has 37 kills, and obtained 2 "Killionaires", and is also an Onyx 2000 playing against multiple players who are either unranked and the max rank is "Gold 6", all with underneath 2KD, whilst MintBlitz has a 20KD, we should acknowledge the lack "Thereof" Skill Based Matchmaking. Consider he should be facing off against other players with "Close enough to" 20KD as possible, with teammates in the same region. They "Do exist" in BTB; The inherent problem (however) is that it doesn't match you on skill. It matches you on chance of creating a positive or negative win for you (Attempting to gamble your win/loss ratio). The end-all solution to bring "you" back isn't to "Remove SBMM". It's to make it Skill Based. This way, when you jump into any playlists, you'll be guarenteed to have FAIR matches with NO ONE on EITHER TEAM (or player) that is significnatly higher or lower in skill range. Varying skills can and should occur; There should and can be that player who "Clutches up" and does better than expected, but that discrepancy in a team of 4 should be a player getting 16 kills, not the player getting 30 as a "requirement to win each game". It creates both exhaustion, frustration, and annoyance among players. Once more, that isn't "Skill" based matchmaking, it's called "Team balancing". A great analogy to why this is occurs is the same reason people, like yourself, are believing Halo "Isn't" competitive (Despite being the very first game to introduce competitive matchmaking and ranking solutions into games). Say you're in High School and you're picking teams for Dodge Ball. 12 players, and each team must have a person 6ft tall and a person 5ft tall, a person who is overweight and a person who is an athlete. "That" is team balancing, and it's not designed to create "Fair, competitive and balanced" games, but to provide the overweight and non-athletic players an "advantage" and "chance to win" whilst they typically wouldn't have one otherwise. Consider if the one team was only those players verses all the athletic individuals; they would get crushed. The real solution here is to have them play amongst each other, and have the athletic players play against each other -- that "is" skill based matchmaking. What we have with Team Balancing (True Match) is effectively a method to "balance" the poor performing players into the average or above average lobbies to provide them a chance to win. The system here isn't created "For average players" (or even remotely close to above this), but for significantly below average players. It actually is designed to create and generate retention of them -- which is why a poor performing player will jump into any playlist and go extensively negative. Because, contrary to the system -- it's not designed to allow them to "perform better", it's designed to allow them to see "Victory!" on their screen at the end. Lastly; The solution to fix all of this is to revert back to Halo's COMPETITIVE roots. We need to go back to "Skill" as the factor for matching, and "Win/Loss" as the factor to rank up, not the opposite. That determines that we need far, far, far more "Ranked" playlists (Like Halo 2 and 3) and far fewer unranked playlists (like Halo 2 and 3). And then, that would generate player retention, bring yourself and many, many others back, and there would be an adherent point to win -- and to that same extent, feel rewarding as you are playing with and against people your exact skill level, not "balanced" into a match to provide you a free win if you lose "too much".

Problem with sbmm is im playing against a full team of people my skill level meanwhile my team is lacking. I lose matches to people i know i could beat in a 1v1 Problem is that there are 4 of them and 1 of me. There's this mob mentality that i face alone because my teammates die too often and too quick. My advice for all fps gamers dealing with sbmm in all games is run in packs for best gameplay experience. Hop into a lobby with a competent team of friends that's unfortunately the best way to have good matches.

This is my personal opinion so i dont want anyone to get offended by this and also im not trying to brag about the things i say but its the only way i can get my point across... but, there is NO WAY in hell there is SBMM in social game modes in this. I know for a fact that im no where near close to being the best halo player. Lately as ive grinded more and more trying to get better and changing my settings, yes i have gotten a lot better at this game. this last month or so its been mainly me being the 1st or 2nd best on my team. about 1 in every 10-15 games ill go negative. most games im going positive and doing the best on my team. just these past few days alot of my games will be me having 15-20 kills and the second best has like 10-11 kills.. Ive gotten two perfections in the last 3 days. one being 15 an 0 and the next 24 and 0. if SBMM was a thing in the social game modes ( i main team slayer) then there is no way id be getting 3+ killing sprees a game, a killing frenzy 3 games in a row, or let alone 2 perfections within 3 days. just these past few days of playing ive noticed the mixed skill between players from both teams. like me and another person on my team will be the only ones to break 10 kills and ive seen that alot with the enemy teams as well. also if SBMM was in social games modes then i wouldnt run into anyone wearing default armor and default backdrop/emblem. there is no way someone playing this game since launch ISNT going to customize their spartan. Even just the amount of people i see on my team and the enemy just aimlessly running around the map not knowing whats going on or trying to figure out shit. With all the time ive also spent in ranked i can say safely say that about 80% is no wear near even low level onyx ranked players and I by no means consider myself a sweat, but others might think so because of skill level. to Some people certain games just click yunno? Some people are jus naturally good at certain games. There are the naturally good players and the players that are good because the grinded. I consider myself good because of my grind in the game. halo is a mindgame on top of a shooter. Knowing when and when not to chase after your enemy, heavily paying attention to your mini map while being shot at and knowing if youre being chased, if youre being chased hug the wall while running and pull a reversal by turning and throwing a nade against the ground/wall so your enemy hits it and you finish them off, using mini map to prefire, and so much more. so for the cases above and other reasons not mentioned I defiantly do not think there is SBMM in social game modes. AND lets say that there is SBMM in social... dont you play to get better? I know the "i play to have fun" stuff is what people say all the time but even on the games i do bad and being like "bullllshiiit" or " no fucking waaaaay bro" i brush that crap off my shoulders and start a new game fresh and continue having fun. Yeah everyone has bad games and will get frustrated or mad or whatever, but you canst let it get to you. its a mental thing. if you keep getting mad your emotions will take away from your focus and youll just associate playing the game to bad memories while playing. And youre always gonna run into people who do better man. weather its cause theyre a sweat or popping off that game. i did enjoy your video and even tho i dont agree with a lot of the things said it was still a good watch. i think taking breaks from games are good too and would like to see you start playing it again. we could even play together sometime cause communication is important in this game.

Idk I'm kinda torn on this. Anyone who came back to halo when MCC dropped on PC has been subjected to the state of social on there. You have guys moon walking around the map sweating it up dropping like 20 and 2. That doesn't happen very often to me in Infinite because horrendous miss matches don't happen as often. No one wants to face down a team of sweats in social and SBMM seemingly has prevented that. I am still able to throw trying to get challenges done and go positive. I don't want to be disingenuous and dismissive of the problems with SBMM but I think I prefer it over the systems in past titles. MCC is rough for a KBM player :( I don't really understand the criticisms against SBMM. You have to try every game. Sure, sometimes you just wanna hop on and dick around. That's what forge and customs is fo.... Oh wait.
