Cute and intelligent priest. 🖤 I'm not a Christian, I'm closer to a cosmological pantheist and agnostic non-religious person. But I kind of already had this basic psychological and theological knowledge about, which the priest is explaining at some points. The priest may have said that it is not theological, but in fact, these behaviors and psychological issues (even the philosophical ones) are also addressed in theology when it comes to the study of all world religions. There is the behavioral factor of religion: involving ritual actions. Ritual actions keep you centered, focused, determined and refreshed. Or even religious physical practices, if have any, to maintain the health of the body. There is the community factor of religion: which involves the coming together of a community or a in-group, whose validation and unity tend to be ever-present. Even if in favor of a specific religious exercise of any religion. And there's the psychological factor, which the priest explains almost perfectly in this video. But I would like to add that the psychological factor also derives from sacred texts, with their supposed ethical and moral manuals on how to live accordingly. This also impacts, in part, the psychology of the practitioner. Especially the positive psychological side. Of course, these three factors are not the only ones, there are many conditions or causes that determine the benefits of religion. And when it is not a benefit, then they are neutral causes that determine the strong and innate presence of religion, regardless of which one. In addition to the evolutionary biological factor behind religion in humans. Especially the evolutionary biological factor that makes it almost impossible, if not impossible, to completely eradicate religion from the human species. And this has been tried several times in history, it never worked. And it's for all these reasons that I am absolutely against eradicating religions or depriving people of the human right to practice their chosen religion. What we must fight is the religious trauma syndrome and unethical practices like sacrificing an animal for some offering, slavery, advocacy of pointless war, terrorism or censorship. We need to understand the history and context of the religion very well in order to know how to fight in the proper directions or places of the religion. Criticize religion, but do not try to eradicate/prohibit it. Allow all people to believe and practice whatever religion they want, but do not tolerate anti-basic rights attitudes. Don't make fun of religion, as it is everyone's personal decision and experience. But don't let them forbid you to counter-argue, philosophically, the proposed ideas of religion. Religion is quite complex. Moderation, insight, attention and care must prevail.

I'm glad a preist is on this platform. God is real , just as much as mental illness is real as we can't see it. As far as my journey was concerned mental illeness stemed for me from fear , not being loved, not patience in life all this leading to hopelessness which is i guess called depression. All these low moods can temporarily swing to higher ones using meds. But get released from this permanently is the knowing that god is there.

It can also hurt and make mental health worse. And lead to extremists thinking. As well as hurt kids.
