Very thorough walkthrough. It is obvious you know your gear which is something today’s pedal consumers (myself included) forget before getting a new piece of equipment. Loved the jam section, at first glance I didn’t get the loops but you made those loops be something very musical. Enjoyed it a lot.

That was the best, most enjoyable as well as useful bass gear video I’ve seen in quite a while. One that does not gives you GAS attack for a new piece of gear but rather makes you think about your current board, what sounds you want to achieve, and how you board fits that objective. Gear for a purpose, not for itself.

Here’s a thing.... I know we always feel like our boards are somehow not quite done yet, still a little “Frankenstein “, I have had a revelation here which has helped me to stop beating myself up about not having the perfect finished ultimate board for me....so here’s the thought I had ... consider your clothes...I get dressed every day and don’t feel the need to look perfect, I don’t have some sense that there’s a perfect look for me that I must always strive for....perhaps that’s why I always look such a mess... love the board and the sounds you conjure from it👍🎸🇬🇧

Janek, killer set up and video! You should experiment with using the HX Stomp effects loop for blending in the Ottobit. You can put an "always-on" FX loop block in every patch, so it will feel like the pedal is in-line like you have it now. You can blend the pedal and dry signal easily with the HX, which can also be assigned to an expression pedal or small potentiometer in an enclosure.

Was one of the first things I tried to try and maximize real estate, but there's a digital/analogue conversion issue with the effects loop of the stomp, and so far no one is talking about fixing it. It effects the natural sound of the bass in a big way unfortunately, so it's an amazing option in theory, but currently unusable.
@FretboardVisualization3 жыл бұрын
@@janekgwizdala wow that is a big problem. I have noticed a slight drop in volume in the FX loop, but not quality loss. I always thought that it was just my old OC-2 in the chain. I just use make up gain on the return, which brought the level back to even.
@janekgwizdala3 жыл бұрын
@@FretboardVisualization Yeah, it's much more than a volume issue. It completely changes the EQ of the natural sound of the bass. Big issue. I'm amazed that NO ONE has complained about it, and got line6 to make a push to fix the issue. Maybe it's less noticeable with guitarists? and that's the predominant user of the unit? I don't know.

I know that the Line6 HX stomp XL can do a lot, but in a vacuum, do you think it does a better job of creating those pitch shifted synthy chords than the Eventide H9? Tracking wise, tone wise etc, and does one handle polyphony better than the other? Thanks.
@janekgwizdala3 жыл бұрын
100% I've A/B tested them and could not tell the difference sonically. The only thing the H9 currently has over the Stomp in the harmonizer department is that it can do 4-note voicings that are harmony specific. You can build a voicing in C minor for instance, and dictate what scale it adheres to up and down the neck. While the Stomp does have some "smart harmony" options, it's not yet as robust harmonically. But the actual quality of the sound is incredible, and I use the Stomp for all harmonizer work now.

That looks like a Dunlop DVP4 which is the mini size. There's the DVP3 (full size), DVP4 (Mini) and DVP5 (new mid-size that still fits across 2 rails on a Pedal Train - was actually developed alongside Pedal Train). All the models do volume and expression.
