Black radiates heat better than lighter colors. It takes up heat (infrared) from the sun also more easily. Pure physics.

In a class at the Wrocław University of Technology, we had a class on how devices heat up. In a nutshell, devices covered in colour reflect heat better, this would go along with the room test.

Yeah I’d have guessed the black ones would do better indoors (radiating excess heat) and worse outside in the sun (reflecting the sun’s heat. Black body radiation.

Silver machines radiate heat to the environment worse than darker colours. That’s why the lighter machines were hotter inside.

In direct sunlight you can't even see the screen properly so its a pointless experiment. Until they finally make laptops with e-ink screens that can be used outside and have much lower battery usage, imagine one with a solar panel body combined with low power usage and ofc no active cooling so would be safe to use in nature. That would be "green" and not the marketing bullshit green we see in today's ads.
