30 years ago I was doing my first open mic. Sinbad was the main act that night. We went on last, after Sinbad,and people were leaving. Sinbad saw the look on my face when I thought I was going to be playing to an empty house. He flew back on stage , called the crowd back in and told them to check out the newbies. While stationed in Germany 31 years ago, my mom sent me a VHS of Sinbad's 1st stand-up, and I watched it at least twice a day for four months, laughing uncontrollably. Fifteen years later, it came on tv Thanksgiving day, and I watched it with my then, 2 teenage boys and husband, and laughed just as hard. His last stand-up that I saw was about menopause and Lord knows he was right!!! I will try to find both of these shows today while praying for his speedy recovery. I will also be purchasing the action figure just in time for Christmas for my grandson and donating to the foundation to help the man who kept me sane while overseas and away from my family over three decades ago.

The fact my fiancé was just like this but suffered a traumatic brain injury and I single handedly helped him the last 4 years.The hardest thing by myself, especially while caring for my 90+ year old grandma after her recovery from being a coma as well. No help, no real therapy, nothing the financial burden is IMMENSE. It is extremely ardous, tiring, stressful, and heartbreaking. However, He has rich friends and this is sad that he doesn't get help from them.

I had a massive stroke in June 2017, the first trimester of my pregnancy (7 weeks exactly) I was 23. Doctors didn’t think I would make it… but by the grace of God I did, carried my pregnancy to full term gave birth to a healthy little girl who will be 5 in February and I’m 28 now… It’s not easy recovering from a stroke I still have side effects but keep your head up sinbad I’m praying for a speedy recovery 🙏🏽

In the early 2000’s I met him at the airport in Indianapolis and he was so kind to me and gave his autograph for a flight attendant colleague. She was beyond nervous walking up to him and asking him for an autograph. I will keep him in my prayers. I have M.S. and in 2016 I lost the ability to walk. Thankfully, I relearned to walk. I met him in Berkeley back in the 90s when he rented a car from me. Such a very nice guy, took pictures with the neighborhood kids and even mailed me a autographed picture of him, thanking me for the car rental. I still have his signed pictured up to this day. It's hard to contemplate what you said, given he squandered millions of dollars and filed for personal bankruptcy twice. I know that sounds cold but the lesson for people is to mind your finances and your personal life. Approach each day with the knowledge that something catastrophic can happen and that you never want to be in a position where you have to plead for donations. In the early 90's I met him several times, I sold him a cell phone in 1991, and I waited on him and his family at a seafood restaurant a few times. He was always so down to earth, respectful and full of positive energy. He was a great tipper unlike many celebrities that brag about stiffing the wait staff. Get well. Just the other day, I kid you not, my best friend and I were naming all the key words from our our day… Sinbad was right up there! I had a stroke at 35, buddy, had to relearn EVERYTHING. Started over at practically an infant. The doctors didn’t think I would walk or speak again. Three years later when I walked onto that hospital floor and said, “hello everyone!” They all cried! I know you can do this, you’ve already defied the odds with how far you’ve come so far!! You’re an inspiration to so many!!

The fact that he filed for bk twice means he didn't learn his lesson the first time. How can you make all that money and not make sure you have investments that will take care of you in case something happens. Don't get me wrong. I feel bad for the guy and don't wish this on anyone. You are absolutely right, this is a part of life. We need to take better care of ourselves so we don't get sick, and we need to put money aside in case "what if" happens to us.

I had a stroke at 6 years old. I remember going through all of the physical and occupational therapy…although I didn’t quite understand what was really happening. I just wanted to get back into gymnastics. lol🤸🏽‍♀️ I eventually did! I pray Sinbad makes a full recovery. I watched him so much on tv. I got to see him person in 2013! 😊

I was so proud because although my son Chris did not have a lot but he wanted to give him at least something which is only in his case $10. He really wanted to let him know that he was thinking about him. He said next month he wants to give him a little bit more. I send him so much Love and prayers for complete recovery. I had a stroke at 46 years old after a head injury. Though it was termed a "mild" stroke, it didn't feel mild while my body went through the changes. I believed I would pull through and after some time, I completely recovered. Sinbad's stroke was severe and still, he has the power to heal within him. With our prayers and our donations, he will have all he needs to carry forward. I look forward to seeing that beautiful smile return to the screen, however long it takes for his recovery. God/dess bless him and his family!💜

I am a true Sinbad fan! I always went to his shows in my city. I met him once (stood behind them in line to pick up ski equipment) while on a NBS ski trip with his family. Sinbad brought me so much joy and laughter. I pray for his total recovery!💯 🙏 ❤

It looks like he's come a long way in recovery and he can continue to get better. Strokes are extremely challenging for the patient and their families, but they CAN be overcome. Many, many people return to functioning level, and live relatively normal lives after a stroke. My mom had one in 2019, and she's been through tons of intensive rehanb and now only walks with a limp. The human body is incredible. Good luck to you, man, I know you'll make it out on the other side.
