In a stream Sips said that the reason he stays is because the Yogs gave him exposure and allowed him to do what he does now so he thought it would be indecent to benefit and then leave.

@@brandonsmith7301 That and what does he exactly gain from leaving? This ain't half a decade ago where all the yogs had to have "YOGSCAST X" on their branding and have matching icons etc. Every member has become their own distinct thing now.

Yogscast members do have to give some portion of their earnings to the network. Financially in a vacuum, Sips would be better off if he left, but he's doing well enough that what the hell difference does that extra 10-15% or whatever make, and he gets to help out his friends (and get a "free" editor/KZbin manager in the process.)

Someone asked him on stream the question along the lines of "Is there any benefit in being in the yogscast anymore?" and he essentially said that he was given a platform out of nothing by Simon and Lewis and that stills means something to him, and that's pretty much it. It was then I realised how humble and just how much of a straight up nice guy Sips is, a man that has stuck around, even though he hasn't needed to, even though he doesn't really get any exposure anymore from them, through sheer friendship and loyalty.

I have never understood this weird modern idea of achieve and then leave. If there are interpersonal or money reasons I could understand but the Yogscast provides more then just exposure. They provide support and structure. I am sure they handle some of the financials and all of the minutia that comes with owning a company. If he is having a hard time he has people he can reach out to and lean on. People who he knows will be there. With this market who knows how stable his situation will be. We are talking about the Yogscast here a group who used to be one of the most popular channels on KZbin. Them not being in that position anymore is honestly a clear sign that this is not a stable situation. The Yogscast are established and will likely never dip too much for years to come. Its the same thing with startup companies let me do all of this work and then once it gets noticed and we hit that mark of being "successful" sell it off and leave. Yogscast invested in him and he has invested in Yogscast he helped grow as well. What reason does he have for leaving really? A bit more money and a ton of stress over the eb and flow of popularity and the burden of handling it all himself. If it was money I am sure he could negotiate a better deal with them. What real negitive does being with the Yogscast bring that bring on his own will not have or will not amplify as he will have to deal with it on his own? This is all beside the point that only the rats flee when the ship might sink the crew stay they dredge the water and plug the holes because that ship is their home the storm will pass. He is also just good person its not about greed for him he likely makes more then enough money what does he need that much more for?

I see a lot of people in the comments saying "Lewis and Simon gave him a huge boost." I think that's a little misleading. Sips didn't get onto KZbin and streaming of his own accord and volition, not like say, the newest Yogscast members that were kicking around and joined the network. Sips was just their IT guy, managing their site, and their gamer friend that helped projects. Eventually he just started making more appearances on the channel and Yogpod to the point it only seemed naturally he get his own channel when all the other classic Yogs showed up so he could have his own platform that was "in brand" and in line with the others. You wouldn't say this of Duncan or Martyn, that Lewis and Simon "gave them a boost." They all started as a cohesive unit that just happened to need their own pages.

I can remember years ago I worked for an organisation that was undeniably beginning to struggle (this bit isn't the parallel I am making with Yogscast, don't worry) and my manager had a private meeting with me where she asked me not to leave and set up in competition on my own. I was amazed because it hadn't occurred to me. I couldn't believe that she thought I would want to set up my own business and deal with all the legal, personnel and finance stuff that multiple other people dealt with where I was! Your comment reminded me of that, that there are some personality types that relish owning the company and organising how that stuff is done how they want it, and then there are those of us who want to do our own skilled, hands on bit and not worry about the other stuff.

He's big enough that any cut the Yogscast gets is insignificant. The Yogscast probably streamlines a lot of the admin and business side of streaming (for example Joe did his current stream assets). He's still friends with many people involved. Most importantly, he isn't restricted at all in what he can do, he is still very much independent to do what he wants. That's why the Yogscast works it may have a corporate side but it is a support network and a community that you are free to engage with as much as you like (some members don't at all which is fine). Lewis, Harry and Ben have some of the most important and influential roles in the company but you would hardly know it coming in blind.

I think a thing worth noting (Although I don't actually know his contract status or anything about his deal at all, this is just pure speculation), but with him streaming from home and not using the office, I don't think being part of the Yogscast costs him very much. If you get older, you might learn that money is not everything in life. Good friends, the peace of mind from being a good human being... to some this is worth much more.

Just not having to be alone and having people to rely on if stuff happens is a good reason to stay. He doesn't need them now but that could change at any moment. Plus you know, they were friends before the Yogscast even existed.

I never thought sips was super funny, so I never looked into his solo streams. Is that something I have been missing out on?

He's not super funny; his streams are just a simmer. A bit like tuning in to HGTV or a medium-energy podcast. He's #1 in my heart since he gets me though the working day. Alsp, any time he starts a new game, it's like watching a puppy learn to use the stairs for the first time. God he sucks at games

I have always just loved his personality. He’s so humble, friendly, smiley and has a laugh whatever he does. I don’t watch his Twitch (I hate Twitch), but always watched his videos on KZbin, especially when he edited them himself. The Triforce podcast is basically the only time I get to consume anything from him. Hugely recommended listening to it.

Ok thank you. Makes perfect sense, I can see him shine in a podcast or lower energy situation. I've mainly seen him in TTTs so there is a lot more going on.

I think the only reason he stays in the yogscast is that he thinks he owes something to Lewis for helping him grow his channel. With Lewis gone from the yogscast, he would probably leave soon after.

Lewis isn't leaving. He started literally all of it, and brought everyone together. Lewis would sooner kill himself then leave. I honestly believe that.

Sips has been there for ages. I suspect he likely doesn't want a more high-ranking position, but I think he'd do a good job if he ever wanted to take on more responsibilities.

He pays a small cut of his income from streaming/yt to the yogscast to be part of their network so that's one reason he may have to leave. But he already stated that he didn't care about that and was just loyal to his friends.
