I m not so sure about that, I have been skipping breakfast ( except coffee, only coffee) and I'm on keto diet for almost 6 months and walking around 50 minutes a day, I'm down 20Kg ( 45 pounds ), I feel no hungry at all for snacks or sugar. Im 57. So I guess is what works best for you.

@@janetgerl893 maybe, but as long I feel good and in shape I’m happy, and I don’t care if is keto or any other diet, but if you are eating healthy, feeling great and in shape, probably you are doing something good, the losing weight and looking good is just a bonus.

@@janetgerl893that’s right, it’s not healthy to cut out huge swathes of food, especially plant foods, we - or our gut bacteria at least - need fibre and the phytonutrients in plants. There are NO good or long term studies on keto, anything good you hear is anecdotal. Of course keto does show benefits, it’s basically a hugely restrictive diet, eliminating most of the problem foods by default - UPFs and refined carbs. Whatever you eat once those toxic things are gone you will be healthier

100% agree. You shouldn't eat when you're not hungry. Seems like what you eat is more important. Eat your big meal when you break your fast (for me around noon, when I actually start to feel hungry), then a smaller meal at least three hours before bedtime. Low carb is key to avoid cravings. I have an overwhelming sweet tooth, but it totally disappears when I keep my daily carbs below about 20 grams total each day.

So many fast incorrectly. I love teaching people how, what and WHY to eat a certain way. I found that eating later 11:30 12, or 1 pm improved my heart condition. I found that fasting for 18 hours or a little more definitely gave me some autophagy. An overall long period of time helped me beat my heart problem. If I eat in the morning my blood sugar level is stable, but I lose that extra bit of autophagy which appears to be like turning on a dimmer switch. I've done this test quite a few times over a few years. I am also a very slim build, and always have been. But interestingly I noticed my muscle increased with the fasting. There seemed to be a growth hormone release which appeared to protect the muscle.

I split breakfast into two meals. First water dense fruit, wait an hour, then something with a full serve of protein, but easy to digest. Eg. Protein shake with a side small serve of quinoa flakes with crushed mixed seed porridge. The fruit first helps break the overnight fast with needed water, sugars, minerals and electrolytes just like in exercise exhaustion. Then the protein, low gi carb, plus seed fat meal, does what is talked about in the video. It fulfills 2 major needs. Replenishment first, then sustenance to start the day.

And for me the skipping of breakfast has been an absolute breakthrough! I used to eat too many calories by starting early and also didn't exercise as much. I thought I had to eat right when I got up! Now I have black coffee and am not hungry until around 10 or 11 am, and I've shed 15 pounds while still eating a healthy amount of food. I also tend to enjoy the morning more by not focusing as much on food right away, and my blood levels all improved markedly, with triglycerides going from 150 to 80, blood sugar from 98 to 88, A1C going from 5.8 to 5.2, ApoB going down to an even better level. And we eat by 5:30 so am doing an eight--hour eating window!

I honestly feel like I should eat breakfast again and just have a broth or light soup for dinner. I feel like for some reason at this piint skipping breakfast being this unusually hungry currently will cause my metabolism to slow down. Beforehand I didn't feel this was an issue but before I didn't wake up feeling ridiculously hungry either. Listen to your body. It may change from day to day, week to week, season to season, year to year. Pause and sense what it's telling you, through hunger cues, cravings, how you feel, both physically and mentally, after eating certain foods or omitting others, and symptoms, improvements, or other changes that may occur. Try to take some time to do this throughout the day, every day, and heed the signs your body gives you, and eventually you should find that you feel better because you're doing what nature intended, rather than what current social norms around food dictate. We're all unique and what works for one person won't necessarily work for another.

I’m the opposite, at 46 and after years of fasting til lunchtime/early afternoon I’m not able to shift some stubborn fat I gained after stopping the pill. I realised it’s possibly because of cortisol (it affects insulin) so I started eating earlier in the evening and trying to eat earlier the next day, so I can keep a long fast - if I need to, and apparently I shouldn’t be fasting so long every day according to Mindy Pelz Fast like a Girl. it’s not easy, I’m just not hungry, but hearing this message again and from another source just reinforced that I’m on the right track. I’m also going to do the month fasting reset from Mindy Pelz.

Right. I usually have a modest brunch around 12pm, like eggs, brown bread, legumes and a bit of meat. Seems like it works, too, having walked before and lifted weights if possible. Sometimes I have plenty of chow around midday, with smaller meals like soups and sammiches around 5pm. One can trust the body once the metabolism is sorted out: hungry? Enjoy some whole foods... I don't really crave. 16-18/8-6 seems to work for me.

I eat 1-2 eggs I get from our neighbor farm and 1 ground elk burger patty after a 16-18 hour fast from dinner. I try to get 70 to 100+ grams of protein per day.I work out 5 days a week and had stubborn fat on my waist. Since I started eating higher protein I can see the fat melting off in just a few days!! I am finally getting it right!!

A small breakfast, egg and a little cheese. Small portions. A good balanced lunch, mid afternoon. Small dinner, no snacks. A few days with an eating window of four hours, or whatever works. Prolonged fast a couple times a year.

Eat when you are hungry, rest when you are tired. I just don't feel hungry in the morning and I don't over eat in the evening. I have my first meal between 11am to 2pm. 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons of carbs (rice, pasta, noodles), olive oil, chicken/fish, coffee. My BP = 113/72, pulse = 62bpm.

I don’t eat breakfast. I tried eating breakfast because of this type of thinking and I felt like shit all day. We need to skip 1 meal and I think depending who you are which meal to skip. I gained weight. Felt overly sluggish with breakfast.

I mostly eat eggs for breakfast. Sometimes juggle blues and Greek yoghurt in for change. No sugary stuff in my house. I have friend that doesn't have breakfast, which out for lunch she either has pancakes or waffles covered with syrup, cream and icecream.

Thank you so much. I couldn’t do longer intermittent fasting hours. Maximum I could do is 13-14 hours. If I waited longer I would not feel good and I ate more at lunchtime and gained weight. I had to change that. I feel so much better now that I have started eating breakfast.

I skipped breakfast and was strictly keto for 9 months. Felt the best I’ve ever felt in my life. The only reason I stopped fasting is I got pregnant. So, I think we need to take Hyman’s advice with a grain of salt. Do what’s best for your body. Try fasting in cycles, experiment, etc. I do, however, absolutely agree that we need to break our fast with protein and stay away from the refined carbs and cereals! I’m a big fan of eggs.

I don't eat until around 4pm everyday.....for the last 6 yrs. I couldn't dream of doing it any other way. I drink coffee with ghee,. Ghee has a plethora of benefits. You don't have to actually "eat" I also consume spirilina in the morning. I'm getting plenty of fuel . Studies show that protein co nsumption is not dependent on time of day.
