Season 5 felt like the end of one story and the beginning of a new journey. No more teenage Clark facing Freak of the Week every time. Season 5 felt like a fresh new start of the show and into the Superman mythos much more. We got Kryptonians coming in, Lex becoming more villainy, Brainiac, other superheroes like Aquaman and Cyborg. The tragic death of Jonathan Kent which is a defining moment in Clark’s life. Introduced to the Fortress of Solitude and the Daily Planet.

Season 9 is my all time favourite with Clark taking his first real steps into becoming Superman by putting on the black costume and we got to see Zod as a young major before he becomes the villainous general that we all know as we learned what happened to him with Jor-El back in the past on Krypton. Season 5 is definitely up there as one of the best ever and for me, I felt that one was the start of the show really starting to embrace the character's roots. I loved it

Season 5 is spectacular in every way in so much the first 3 or 4 episodes alone are 🌹🌹🌹3 roses for me! It started with a bang and ended with a bang. It's the season that got me hooked on Smallville, the acting, storyline, the action just went up a notch. I could only think of 1 or 2 episodes that were not good but overall it was a rollercoaster of a ride. The introduction of Braniac, the casting James Masters was a masterstroke, Lex descends into more villainy after the classic "Lexmas" episode, befitting of him to be inhabited by Zod, the 100th episode including the tearful end of Jonathan Kent. My favourite season with good reason and I'm so glad the creators Al/Miles share that opinion.

I definitely agree with Season 5 being the best. The 100th episode ‘Reckoning’ is easily my favorite of the entire series. Season 5 was a much needed course correct after season 4 focused a little too much on magic, witches, and silly high school storylines for my liking. I’m excited to see some of the podcasts for this season as it’s probably the most transformative season of the entire show.

The writing, the episodes, the VFX, the acting were all astonishing. With season 5 you got the feeling that this is not anymore about a teenager Clark and his adventures facing freaks of the weak. The world in the show was changing and Superman was needed. If they had ended it during season 7 at least it could've ended on a high note.

I love all the seasons even if some episodes didn’t make a lot of sense! Season 5 had a lot of great episodes , but some very sad episodes, so I cried my way through some of them. (Yes I am a total softie!) I loved Season 9 and 10 better, but there were episodes that I loved in all the seasons.

Season 5 is amazing but for me season 6 is my personal favorite of the series. The Clana drama continues in season 5 especially after Clark crushes Lana's heart in 5x16 "Hypnotic." Chloe's relationship with Clark really gets even more closer and unique. They form a bond that is unmatched IMO. I believe Chloe still held out some small hope her and Clark might become more than just friends. The whole Lex and Lana story line I wasn't a fan of. Curious to hear what Miles and Al have to say about that. :) So. Cal girl here! :)

Season 5 has always been my favorite. I loved High School Smallville, but there was a breath of fresh air with leaving the teen drama behind. Season 5 gave us storylines that were always thwarted before. Clark and Lana were finally in a relationship. Chloe was finally that real bumbling reporter. Lex started his arc of craving for power in politics. And the show started to get real with the Kryptonian legacy, introducing the Fortress, Brainiac, and a more fleshed out Jor-El. On top of that the longer storylines were more fleshed out too. The arc leading to Jonathan’s death, the Brainiac storyline leading to Zod. Sure there were episodes that were silly and fillers, and the quality dropped with the second half of the season, but it felt like Smallville finally stopped delaying things and just went for it.

I don’t mind season 5 not my favorite but I agree it was more consistent at moments then season 4 was I agree with that also glad we got more seasons to make Clark become who be Superman and work in the fortress will you find out in 4x22 and 5x01 just giving you heads up. Season 4 had some high high highs but some inconsistencies and some a lot lows most of storyline of witch storyline in my opinion. But these are my 2 cents I can’t wait to hear your guys thoughts on season 5.

The finale of season 4, and then season 5, is the zenith of the series. Clark and Lana finally come together. Lex turning to the dark side slowly, you see him coming unraveled. The Fortress of Solitude, the mythology coming together. The series went on too long overall (ten seasons). The Clark-Lana storyline was bungled badly. The series is about Smallville, and for purposes of this series, Clark and Lana should have stayed together. The chemistry between Welling and Kreuk was remarkable, they just sizzled, POPPED. She should have known Clark's secret long before she did, and the series should have ended with their marriage.

5,6,4,3,1,2,8,10,7,9 is my quick thought ranking. Love the middle seasons (probably because it's when I started watching) but season 5 was a great balance of all the things that made Smallville work.

Season 2 will always be my fav. Between less freak of the week episodes, more long term storytelling, Clark and Lana growing closer, the introduction of Jor-El, Lex and Lionel’s feud, and the guest appearance of Christopher Reeve, it’s by far the most enjoyable to watch, in my option.

S5 is definitely in the top 3. It's strange because I feel 2,3 and 5 are the best, but that 9 is the most complete. What really stands out to me about S9 is how the plot always seems to be moving forward and it never feels like it's dragging. The pacing is just on point and the tension is just slowly building throughout the season all the way to the end of the finale.

It was too bad that as the seasons went on, there was less Clark and Lex interaction. Their friendship and later tension was the best. Would have liked to see more of them teaming up as friends. Lois and the witches and the justice league were a waste of time lol. Some of the best episodes were the kid Ryan ones, Alycia was great... and it would have been cool to see red K Clark and Lex have adventures together.

Season 4 takes a lot of heat but several things happened that caused them to shift gears. First Christopher Reeve died and wasn't involved in the season, Margot Kidder was supposed to have a bigger role, and Jenson Ackles got the starring role on Supernatural and had to be written out. Jane Seymour came in to replace Margo Kidder and Jenson was changed to a villian. Despite that we got ERICA DURANCE who was a massive addition to the cast and a great person for Tom to play off of. We got our Flash/Impulse, Transference, Onyx, the addition of Krypto/Shelby, Lucy Lane and possibly the best season finale in the show's history. Not bad for a so called weak season!!

Season five? Ehh I disagree. Six was better. I think season eight was the best of all the seasons, including those that Al and Miles did. For one, we had to do without Lex AND soon after Lana, an absolutely huge gaping hole to fill! I think they did a fantastic job keeping it fresh and up to par. We see Lois and Clark start together at the Daily Planet. We see Clark start his very first chapter as Superman before there was even a name yet. The Legion. Absolutely huge milestones that the whole series was building up to. Of the seven seasons Al Gough and Miles Millar did I think five was really good though. Season eight had so much going against it though but they knocked it completely out of the park! Most shows never would have survived.

Couldn't disagree with this more. 1) Rehashes Clana AGAIN. 2) Johnathan risks his anonymity to get into politics, which is a full 180 on his character. He's always been so concerned over not risking his family and Clark's secret. Yet suddenly he wants his whole life in the national spotlight? 😂 3) Lois has zero purpose in S5. 4) Johnathan's death is pointless because nothing changes. At least if Clark had told Lana again and used his future knowledge to stop the accident, something changed in exchange. Instead, Johnathan dies, and everything remains the same. 5) This season officially started the Clark, Lex, and Lana love triangle soap opera, which is the worst decision they ever made. Instead of making Clark/Lex's fallout be about their ideologies, the writers make it about a woman.👎 **As a whole, I think S5-S7 were the three seasons when Smallville was at its absolute worst. But thankfully S8-S10 help to gradually rebound.

They made Johnathan so intensely protective over his family's anonymity to the point of being paranoid and a bit of a hard ass. Yet suddenly, he wants to be a senator and put himself in the public eye out of nowhere. 😆
