Look up to the Patriarch. Look up to masculinity. Believe me. Every generation of males before you ALWAYS did that. They have you guys, for the first time in history, being against the Patriarch. That the Patriarch is wrong. No it's not. It's all meant to weaken you. To make you become less so that women have the power. It's manipulation and coercion to put the Matriarch in power. But its at the expense of you. Trust me. They made you guys become against the prior generations so that you don't learn the wisdom/the spirit, that's there to really become the man you're supposed to be. Try to hang out with Xennials, Gen X, Boomers and even the Silent Generation. Just by being in their presence will change everything. The number one virtue you must be about before doing this is respect. Do not back talk in any way. Don't be judgmental in anyway. You have to learn how to follow before you can lead. And we will strengthen you and lift you. Stay away from these new tv shows, movies ...etc. It's all meant to make males become less. Watch shows or movies from 2015 and before. Don't fall for any of this feminist rhetoric. And never let a girl think she's tougher or superior to you. It's also another tactic that's meant to break you.

Read “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. Haidt posits that the “great rewiring” of childhood occurred from 2010 to 2015. In the book, Haidt offers statistics from multiple first world countries that all see a shocking rise in depression, mental health issues, and suicide rates- the big jump occurring in the aforementioned period. The softening of childhood play began with over-parenting in the 80s, and increased to the near total erasure of a play-based childhood by the 2010s. Children learn to regulate their emotions when playing with others, it is critical to properly socialize a child by the age of 4. We cannot placate our children by handing them iPads to shut them up and get them to stop crying.

I'm 24, baptized Orthodox a year ago, and I am almost finished with law school. I relate to everything in this video that was discussed on a level so deep it hurts. The isolation is beyond suffocating and I grow tired of it. It's almost impossible to find people to become friends with, even in the Church. Nobody seems to know how to handle disagreements and nobody has any manners at this point. There's so much loneliness and isolation in my life. I've been single for 3 years, all of my family is dead except for my parents, and I was never close to my father. I'm growing apart from my mother as I age and struggle to gain independence. I have a godbrother I know loves and cares for me, and that's about it. Most friendships feel conditional or like they can't go very far. I would try talking to women more often but school simply has gridlocked me to where that would be a distraction. I'm tired. Please pray for me.

It's not only a problem for Gen-Z but for all of us because if people stopped living in truth, then we're living in some madmen's collective nightmare. Anyone not following the 'programme' (pretty much anyone living in truth) becomes an exile in every sense of the word, both good and bad. Good because we're not of this world. I deeply appreciated this video and each point you made. I was born in 2003, towards the latter part of Gen Z. I was a child of divorce and I have developed addictions to various pursuits of fantasy over the years. The feeling of isolation found in groups of the younger generations is palpable in society, you can clearly see it when you're at school, when you're online, when you're with your peers etc. We all are searching for meaning, and what a lot of us have not yet realized or have put into action, is that true meaning isn't found in video games, anime, social media, *any* form of pleasure or consumption that this world can offer. Its found in Christ, in family, in community, and in living the life that God has chosen for us to live. Its relieving yet sad to see the former confusion in a new light. How could I and so many other young men and women have been sold such a egregious lie? That's what the enemy does. I've always believed that I was meant to do great things, that I am worthy of love, worthy of a meaningful life. Those things are true, as true for me as anyone else reading this, but without God we have no way of attainment of anything everlasting or that is meaningful, there is no way on our own. I am very new in trusting God, in walking with Him, and trying my best to grow and to love the Lord and my neighbor with all of my heart. I still live a worldly life, I'm not praying as much as I need to be, I struggle with so so many difficulties. I know that every breath I take is out of grace, love, and forgiveness. Despite all the difficulties and changes, I will never give up on Jesus. I ask anyone reading this comment to please pray for me, that every day I get up I truly surrender to God and His divine will. God bless you Father Moses

I am from generation Z. I grew up with all the problems you described, but the full-scale war that started in Ukraine changed perspectives. Everyone had to grow up too fast and change ideals, the way we look at life. In war conditions, people who are unempathetic, unsocial and lonely are not liked, and to survive you have to help others: volunteer, donate to charities and spread the word. All the problems that seemed important before are now in the background. I was not religious, but I converted because if you live without God and see the horrors of war, you can go crazy. But the spoiled children of a well-fed Western capitalism have seen neither hunger, nor poverty, nor war, and it pains me to see what the Western world is turning into. Perhaps because of the lack of problems, humanity is desperately trying to create them for itself.

I’m 25 (older Gen z). The difference between younger gen Z and older Gen Z is insane to me. I’ve been in the military, traveled widely for my background + age, and more. It’s incredibly hard to connect with people my age, because of this social culture and the p0rn industry. One big difference in our lifestyles now vs 20 years ago, was the accessibility of hang-out places without alcohol or smoking. Church is an awesome one, though it would help bring non-believers closer to god to have a different place to go, that encourages godliness and connection and coming to the church. “You love this cafe? Awesome, a lot of our church members work there and we could continue this conversation at our church if you’d like”. Whether a yes or no, it plants a seed for Jesus and for healthier lifestyles.

I'm 22 so I believe I count as an older Gen Z. Even within my family the contrast is pretty apparent between me and my younger brother. I was lucky enough to have been able to experience a proper childhood and was able to spend adequate time outside. However, my younger brother who is much younger than me was unable to experience a proper childhood because of the pandemic. The only social interaction he really experiences is on Discord or hanging out with me. To be honest I'm the only one who bothers to drag him outside of his room to go hit the gym together or go for a walk together. It's crazy that all of the hangout locations of the past are pretty much just gone now as a result of the pandemic, and it saddens me that my younger brother will be unable to experience the things I loved so much in the past. I hope that the church can continue to help young people find connection and healing from the scars they bear from their time in the secular world.

Even if they have super-powers and they're the strongest person in the room with enough power to beat up every guy and girl around them, they'll wear dresses, act all cute, and expect guys to have manners around them like real men should. And they'll often be juxtaposed against competent men, who work hard and improve themselves to make life better for their communities. It's the complete opposite of a lot of media right now that's full of "strong" women, and spineless men. I work in construction, and there are guys who put up anime girl stickers everywhere, just like ppl 50 years ago would put up pics of girls from certain magazines. There are anime with exceptions, like trap characters, but this is a big thing with the guys I know who really love anime.

Anime is just as degenerate, maybe even more than "western" media. Nothing is ever about being parents or family, it's filled with oversexualized slop, effeminate men and masculine women (who happen to look girly so everyone gives it a pass) juvenile humour, gnostic/nihilistic ideas, etc. There is literally nothing redeemable about Japan or it's media, they don't breed, they off themselves in large numbers, old people just die alone in their appartements and are only found weeks after. People need stop glazing that shithole of a country and their meaningless degenerate cartoons. - Ex-anime nerd.

With respect, father, I think the refusal to grow up and being stuck in an infantile mentality/habits is a millennial thing and less of a Gen Z thing. They're also generally very sarcastic and ironic, which is a sign of intelligence and being very observant. I think people are very down and out on Gen Z and don't see any of their good traits. The point about anime hits me in the heart. Back maybe some years ago, there was actually anime about genuine effort and sacrifice in love from both sides. Yet, people get bored and wanted instant gratification instead. Now, the main characters are either born overpowering or have cheat code. Meanwhile, antagonist and villains are being glorified as saviour or god who just view pro social behaviour with absolute contempt and despise. Romance doesn't care depth and detail of plot and characters (both the person and their mental world), but about how many attributes you can fit in to the sexy and beautiful female characters who seemingly succumb to the charm of the protagonist automatically.

Example of anime that used to be that way?
@Strill_22 күн бұрын
@@TiagoGomez-hb9te Dragonball Z? The characters go around all day wearing hundreds of pounds of weights, and come up with increasingly absurd handicaps to keep pushing themselves to train harder. They run off to spend years at a time training constantly. Bleach is one of the ones where the character "Transforms", but he does so by subduing a monster inside him and learning to work with it. It's meant as a metaphor for taking control of your anger and violent, masculine tendencies, and bending them toward constructive goals before they take control of you and cause you to lash out at your loved ones. That's another common theme in lots of other anime. Demon Slayer - you see the main character progress from having quick wits and good instincts, to training for many months under an instructor on a dangerous obstacle course. Then of course, there's One Punch Man, the parody of those kinds of anime. In One Punch Man, Saitama tries to become a superhero by doing a marathon regimine, but inexplicably becomes the most powerful being in the known universe, able to defeat any opponent in a single punch. This leads him into depression, as he has nothing left to struggle against or overcome, and that was his whole motivation the entire time.

I made my peace with my parents that they did the best they could, but we aren't perfect and they left holes in the parenting . Thru God's Mercy and Grace, He filled in those holes with father and mother figures to make up where my parents didn't teach me . Also the fact you meet people that have the same personality as people you knew before you joined the Orthodox Church, but fell away via life circumstances. And yet, their personalities seem to manifest in a new person who is co-laboring in Christ and struggling after salvation . So in a way its reminiscent and nostalgic of that person, and yet its novel because it's that person being authored in a new person. Glory to God for all things.

Personally, I would advise against the Catholic church because I believe that a lot of their teachings are extra-biblical and at times go against the word of God. That's not to say that the Catholic church hasn't done some good in the world, but doctrinally, there is a lot to be desired. I would suggest reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church (but honestly it is so long, I would suggest the audiobook version) because it thoroughly details what Catholics must believe to be considered Catholic. I would also suggest that you learn about the Council of Trent and go to a local Catholic church to meet with a priest for any questions that are better answered in person. As long as you find a Bible-believing church that treats its congregation with love, respect and is welling to tell the truth even when it hurts, I think you'll be fine.
@FireflowerDancerАй бұрын
I'm considering doing the same thing! I can't be evangical anymore. Catholics do hail Mary's and believe in purgatory which is troubling, but the Catholic faith seems historically to have this philosophical and relational aspect to it that seems lacking in evangelicalism. Evangelicals believe in deliberately offending others to spread truth. They pride themselves on being free of emotionalism, yet in reality embrace anti-intellectualism and they prefer to live in doctrine rather than pursue actual trancendental spiritual experience. So for me it really comes down to, which is more important, claims made theoretically on paper, or a lived reality that the rest of the world can see and interact with? I am following several Catholics on KZbin whose intellect and social grace is new and different (Jimmy Akin, Capturing Christianity, Pints with Aquinas) and I'm really enjoying getting to know them. Corruption happens everywhere, so I am not against Catholicism just because of problems with the papacy contradicting certain biblical teachings.
@TranslatedAssumptionАй бұрын
I was baptized into Orthodoxy this year after having spent 13 years in Catholicism, I tried to go down the road into the priesthood and ended up and what they consider to be a monastic community. Catholicism is not the Catholic Church just because the word Catholic is in the word Catholicism. Catholicism was invented in the 9th century by Charlemagne, it is not the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ. I think anyone that goes there will end up being severely disappointed and likely in time see it only as a bridge into Orthodoxy. Everything you think Catholicism is Orthodoxy actually is in reality.

@Prayforus123Ай бұрын
@@TranslatedAssumption Perhaps you already know all that I am about to say but out of curiosity: The sticking point of Catholicism (I, myself, am Catholic) is that there is a head of the Church and the Magisterium which can make the final decision on matters of faith. Orthodoxy and Protestantism do not have this. That said, just because the papacy is “useful” does not make necessarily make it true on its own. However, the early church fathers (Cyprian of Carthage, Irenaeus, Dionysius of Corinth, Ignatius of Antioch, etc.) clearly submitted to the bishop of Rome for guidance and mediation. They clearly understood that Matthew 16:18-19 tells of Jesus changing Simon’s name to Peter (Rock), giving him the keys to the Kingdom, and saying that upon this *Rock* he will build His Church. Cyprian of Carthage says as much in 251 A.D. I would say, any problem that can be found in Catholicism can be found in Orthodoxy, but only Catholicism can definitively settle the disputes that inevitably arise. I wonder, how did you come to the conclusion after 13 years in Catholicism, that Orthodoxy was the true Church and that Catholicism was invented in the 9th century by Charlemagne?

I agree with everything that was said. However, I think there is another key aspect that is greatly overlooked when considering all the issues that plague gen z. And that is that, generally speaking, gen x (who raised gen z) very rarely received any affirmation from their own parents and has a great deal of unresolved childhood trauma. Thus, gen x seeks the affirmation of their being from their own gen z children. To the point of not allowing their own children the opportunity make their own mistakes to learn from, emotional manipulation, or just flat out making the parent/child relationship all about themselves even if the gen z child has a family of their own. If the gen z child is not consistently making the gen x parent feel good about themselves the gen x parent often responds with vitriol. Again, this is a very broad and over-generalized statement, and I realize that the scope of the video, as well as my comment, is not suited for all of the nuance surrounding this issue. However, there still is something to be said and even researched as to why many gen z (and many younger millennials) seem to be going no/low contact with their gen x parents. Definitely a topic that will be discussed more and more in the near future. Great video!

This indecisiveness is paralyzing and mentally ruinous.

@TranslatedAssumption I absolutely agree. In life, we are given our faith and what we do with it. How can we have faith when we need everything to conform to all our limits? An example is that divorce is high partially because selfishness is higher than ever. People think happiness is greater than wisdom or long-suffering. We idolize happiness and avoid strength through tribulations. That is a huge issue that prevents spiritual growth. It keeps us weak. Love is often sacrificial, and so is faith. Nowadays sacrificial attitudes are lacking for the greater good of Godliness. People want things to conform to the self, even at the expense of the greater good, such as the holy family. Without sacrifice and long-suffering love is impossible.

Well said. I tend to like to use the 'Allegory of the Long Spoons' as well to describe the lack of love for God and humanity in our culture. Here are my thoughts of some major problems: 1. The death of community. Man has no basis to co-exist with his fellow man in spirit, or in faith, or in shared history. We have lost the "common" upon which men could say they are vassals of. Be it faith, folk, or fatherland. All has become a question of the self vs. the world. All has become economic zones, where loyalty to the self matters more than loyalty to God and humanity's organic commons. "Love your neighbor as yourself." 2. Individualism, the gain of the self normalized over the gain of Godliness in the collective of compatriots. Evil decisions with power are rewarded in a fully profit-driven society rather than punished. Evil people with much power can take advantage of this. This leads to usury, envy, greed, and pride. The market is blind to sin, in fact, it thrives in making profit off of sin, as we see in many markets. The young grow up in this system, and believe that 'greatness' is grander than 'goodness' in a decadant Nietzschean attitude. "You shall either worship God or mammon." 3. Utilitarian reductionism of 'human value' to atomized ecomomic units, found in all sectors of society; political, governmental, academic, and architectural city planning. This is very prevelant in marxism and capitalism, where subjects are either idolizing the secular state, or idolzing the private monopolized market. In terms of aesthetic effects look no further than 'brutalism' as a spiritual manifestation of such unbridled materialism. "Man shall not live on bread alone"

why can't humans continue with life without god or religion?
@Codreanu_Prezent28 күн бұрын
@Marty_KZbinr Better asked is: Why is religion so deeply woven into each human society across different historical modes of production? The old assertion that it's "the opium of the masses" has clearly now rusted away in uncredibility.

@@Codreanu_Prezent Well I'm not a smart guy But I can tell you when horrible things happen I believe in More science fiction solutions and more military solutions many bad things have happened for many countries like the holocaust and I like the US military since If they have a good leader and good objectives they can bring a lot of good to the world. But I don't think god can stop bad things or help directly so I would rather watch Jesus movie I don't rely on god I rely on sci-fi fiction.

Truth be told I believe my generation played a part in why the Generation Z kids turned out the way that they did. I ain’t saying collectively but subconsciously. I think the millennial generation ended up teaching Gen Z some bad philosophy and failed to realize what we had done until it was too late

I agree with a lot of what was said here but for me going to church really didn’t help and it felt very forced; also some of the worst people i have known in my life have been about the church life/religion.
@FireflowerDancerАй бұрын
My advice? If it feels like that, stay away. I went for years even though it didn't really feel right. I was always pressured by evangelicals to 'pick a church and go every week. And it doesn't matter if no one there likes or supports you, just do it for God.' Worst advice ever! If you are giving yourself to something out of the belief that 'one day it will finally give you what you need,' you will end up with trauma and you won't trust anyone. You'll feel lonely and self-invalidating. You'll think it's your own fault when really, it's a corrupt system. Talk to believers and pray daily, but don't join a church organization out of a sense of duty or obligation.

My first experience at an Orthodox Church was a terrible experience. Everyone ignored me, and treated me as an unwelcome stranger. It was a Coptic Orthodox Church in Nashua, New Hampshire. The only person who talked to me was the security guard, who only wanted to know what I was doing there. My best friend is Slavic Orthodox, when I told him he did lament my experience and encouraged me to go to a different Orthodox Church. I haven't gone to another Orthodox Church yet. However, I have been reading The Orthodox Study Bible. Especially the books the Protestants cut out.

My husband and I came to the church at age 25 and it changed our lives! A big inspiration was a mutual friend who was the daughter of a Greek Orthodox priest. We looked at the Orthodox Church and have great love for it, but the closest community is 80 miles away. Fortunately, we have a very traditional-minded Catholic parish in our hometown that has become our community. We know it’s not the same, but at the end of the day we think both churches are true organs of the body of Christ. While the Protestants have gone off the rails over the centuries, we feel that the differences between the Catholic and Orthodox churches are more political and liturgical than theological. Anyway, at the end of the day, we’d love to see the church united again, but as laity we don’t think belonging to one or the other is a salvation issue. In fact, the Catholic Church teaches that the Orthodox have valid communion, which they say about one one else (though I know the Orthodox take issue with this). I say this in case there is anyone else out there feeling the call but with a loss of community. The little Catholic Church in the corner could have a lot to offer, too. And this year, we get to celebrate Easter together!!!
