Lol, i got pretty creative in the university) I basically did whatever i wanted, as long as it was somewhat related to the assignment and dit technically check the boxes. Then I had to convince my professors that my implementation was "technically correct" to assignment. It was fun on it's own. It also helped that my first programming professor had a great sense of humour and was genuinely amused by my shenanigans. I guess the creativity of what you do in the uni heavily depends on the uni, the professors and your will to test their patience)

nice yeah defo did some of that myself as well, dropped some marks intentionally because I implemented it a better way than what the checkbox requirement was and the marker said as much, but still had to dock me

You're so right about school assignments being the least creative. Last term we had a C# course, but we were literally given pseudo-code for EVERY flippen assignment so we never even had to try to think of an algorithm, even for the damn final! Plus, with the way it was written, the syntax was like almost right, so you basically just copy the pseudo-code from the assignment page into visual studio, slightly tweak it, and basically never write a line of your own code for the whole fricken course. Apologies for ranting, that course was just incredibly stupid. Great video, as always. Keep up the good work.

bro that is ridiculous. I have no idea how these institutions even think they're being helpful, like what skills exactly are these type of assignments supposed to give you???

Always on the point man! I think this video clarify some things in my mind. As someone from industry, always seeing and build products for others and starting to code something for fun (or… for me), its a way to be creative and put something to work. Thanks for the video and the surf, you rock.

hey good to see you again! I agree completely, it's refreshing to think of programming more as 'bringing your ideas to life' instead of just writing a piece of software :)

The uni part is so true, as far as the language classes go that I've experienced; they're pretty handholdy.

programming is obviously creative. the field is about finding the right words. it's sibling with math and creative writing, but relative with all arts really
@hoff._world8 ай бұрын
too many simply assume because the words form logic that there is no creativity involved. It is nice to think of it the way you say :)

True. It came as a surprise for me now, that people opt degrees to get a perky jobs. I used to think that people opt particular area based on that interest.

many who don't really have a passion or who have a low-paying passion will simply "do a job for the sake of doing a job" to make money. It's not for me, but then again we are quite lucky to be into tech

@@hoff._world indeed. I am jobless since 3 years and did CS just because one of my classmate sells me the idea to join with them as a lot our classmate were joining the University. haha tho I used to had interest in Computers (Iron Man movie contributed also) so I searched what related course they had for computers and hence I joined.😂

@@hoff._world Didn't notice your ping but noticed you weren't on KSF. There's a game called Momentum Mod which people usually use to play offline but I think it's still in beta/alpha (has been for eternity now lol). Cool you host your own server!

@greg-enjoyer-36 neat I'll check it out thanks. I'm using Influx Timer on this particular one, since I have no clue if the public version of surftimer will work (looks like it was written for GO). Might try it at some point. It would actually be kind of a fun video to do a tutorial on setting all this up, though it would be kinda niche...
@greg-enjoyer-368 ай бұрын
@@hoff._world99% sure Surftimer is (was) written for CS:GO. I don't imagine there's many tutorials out there for this kind of stuff so if you feel like making one, why not. Definitely niche but maybe there's a bit of demand as CS:GO is dead and CS2 surf is basically broken atm from my knowledge.
