The Dooku episodes don't contradict Dooku: Jedi Lost It is well established in canon that Dooku left the order well before TPM (also after sitting on the council) however the new Padawan novel states that Dooku regularly still visited the Jedi Temple - possibly to address this very question as the novel and show were probably being worked on at the same time. It is never stated in episode 4 that Dooku was still a Jedi at the time, and there are some thematic clues that lend themselves to this as well (Dooku using Sifo-Dyas's codes to erase Kamino rather than his own and him having not met Obi-Wan)
@paqshet4648

Maybe his visits to the temple were a disguise to meeting Palpatine since others may have sensed his presence. He was also allowed to keep his lightsaber when he left, explaining why he still has the same one.

@@paqshet4648 At first his visits to the Temple were just him keeping up with old friends, but once he falls in with Palpatine their basically largely spying and sabotage to advance their plan... which is what we see him doing in The Sith Lord. having someone with access to the Jedi Temple to be able to do stuff like erase Kamino from the archives greatly helped his plans. Of course Dooku's use in that capacity is lost after he kills Yaddle, he can't go back for fear of that being sensed or something but he managed to do a lot for Sidious before.

The Dooku episodes were by far the best part of the series. I always love seeing Ahsoka but with a 6 episode series I was confused as to why they wasted half of it on a character that has most of the gaps in her story already filled in. I would've preferred 6 half-hour (normal Clone Wars episode length) episodes about Dooku's descent into the Dark Side. Maybe divide half the season into Dooku and young Qui Gon and the other half into Dooku on his own after Qui Gon is grown up. I'm still happy with what we got, I just think there was some wasted potential by devoting 3 episodes to Ahsoka

Not a really a can't please them all situation, it's more a "confusing people trying to follow chronology and character's arcs situation". While no work of fiction is perfect in its world building, this whole decanonising of the recent novels and comics really makes them feel pointless to read. Why bother learning of the harrowing origins of Kanan when an upcoming series will just retcon it out of existence. It makes the novels and comics little more than just a what-if/alt history for every character. I've read the first Thrawn Trilogy, and it felt like it added to his character, decanonise it, and I'd feel like I wasted my time learning of a character who doesn't exist in the actual story.

@@saberiandream316Those canon tiers weren't just some made up rules. They were basically the natural order of maintaining a continuity across multiple media, and still exist today in practice. At the top is movie canon. Directors don't follow continuity at all and aren't made to. Legends is the new S/secondary-canon. It exists to draw ideas and characters from but doesn't count in official continuity. And all new canon novels and comics function as C-canon did. T-canon is also the same. It's Filoni canon and does whatever it wants whether it contradicts movie canon or anything else.

About Obi-Wans hair: I suppose they chose to use short hair in the early episodes of the clone wars because it's far easier to animate. Longer hair flatters when you move in a certain way. An in-universe explanation is that Obi-Wan cuts his hair from AOTC to that of the first Season of the Clone wars. And Anakin's hair is slightly longer by the time ROTS started or Season 7 of the Clone wars to be precise. So, it's safe to say that the reason why they cut Obi's hair down since Season 1 is due to limitations they had at the time, hence why the animation looks stiff.

Actually, there’s a detail in Padawan that allows for Dooku Jedi Lost and Tales of the Jedi to work. Padawan revealed that Dooku still had the right to visit the Jedi temple, and whenever he did, he’d still be referred to as Master Dooku. Jedi Lost even cemented that he’d still be viewed as a Jedi by the order and he got to keep his lightsaber. There’s no lines in Tales of the Jedi that contradict what Padawan set, plus he still needed to erase Kamino from the archives, manipulate and kill Syfo-Dias, and hear Qui Gon’s good words about Obi Wan. I won’t rule out the possibility Kiersten White did this to prevent Tales of the Jedi from potentially overwriting Jedi Lost and Master & Apprentice, but I can believe the explanation and be relieved this is the case as I do consider Dooku Jedi Lost to be a really solid audio drama.

How are you gonna shoot a rifle when her head is right under your shoulder, how do you know that she won’t cry and scare the prey, how are you gonna chase the prey? How are you gonna protect her from a predator…oh… And this child, who doesn’t understand what’s going on and thought that tiger is just playing games with mommy, who doesn’t even talk yet, who never used the Force before, somehow not only stops the tiger from eating her, not only convinces it to give her a ride, but somehow makes it to bring her to the village which it would never come close to because it knows it would be shot…She didn’t even know in which direction the village was from them! Even Ezra, who isn’t a great character, had real trouble with calming down animals or just making them feel his emotions, and he was a teenager with some basic Force training! Bravo Dave Filoni, you made Ahsoka a Mary Sue. And the weird thing - in next episode she is failing again and again! Does that mean that training makes her worse? Thank god, episodes with Dooku are good (after bad first Ahsoka episode I was worried). Really shows you where he is coming from and what is the line between him and Qui-Gon lies. I find it weird that senator decided to shoot even though his son is a hostage, but I guess Dooku told him he was not in danger and maybe he knows how many people there are…Also weird that the guards invited Jedi to see the place of murder when they were guilty…Also why didn’t Yaddle at least try to jump backwards when she was holding the door above her, she could have survived…Granted, Sidious could have force pull her forward, but it would be nice to see.

More people are finally noticing that Dave Filoni massively contradicts other established media in all of his shows. Legends fans were pointing that out back when The Clone Wars came out; he's never cared about other writers' work.

EU was always secondary to Lucas' works, and The Clone Wars, while directed by Filoni, was co-written by Lucas - nearly all the scripts were run by Lucas before going into production. Lucas never hid the fact that for him, EU was no more than a pool of ideas, but happening separately from his own works. Filoni without Lucas, however, is nothing but a mediocre writer hardly capable of producing a worthy story.

As a big critic of Disney Star Wars, Tales of the Jedi was amazing. It put interesting spins on both Ahsoka and Dooku. Everything Dave Filoni has done and continues to do in Star Wars has meaning, direction, emotional impact, added value for the lore. Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian, The Best Episode in the Book of Boba...I'm certainly not "done" with him

I'm not going to go too much into this; I was angry with the last episode of Ahsoka facing the Inquisitor because it not only effectively replaced the novel, but it did so in a way that took all the emotional weight that novel's story gave us and abandoned it. Watching this, I don't know what emotional change Ahsoka went through. She seems like she's only doing this because it's the right thing to do, which she would have done at any other important time in her life. Nothing about this episode tells me why she decided to rejoin the fight and that's what I'm coming to realize was the highlight of the Ahsoka novel

Done doubting him that is, the episodes were great, loved the depth given to dooku, idc about the minor changes because little details don't matter as long as you stay true to the characters, which the show did. as for wanting for the show to tread new ground, that's all the more reason to hope for more seasons of this great content. If we want to see more new content, we shouldn't bash the show, we have to show our support for it

A living story breathes and changes with each retelling. Look at the Iliad. The Odyssey. The size of the fish I caught last week. All wonderful stories, and all told differently every single time. Do you want Star Wars to be something stagnant and stale, told by a single mouth and then forgotten forever? No! It must be shared by many, and each will inevitably tell it a different way. That's just how storytelling works.

"A retcon that teases, in a way, the original material" has been Filoni's MO from the start. I'm grateful for what Filoni and his team were able to produce under George Lucas, but in recent years, his work under Disney has rarely been as ambitious as the Clone Wars got around its 3rd season. He too often settles for the "that'll do" approach. Perhaps this is due to the fact he's having to juggle so many projects at once, but overall his work under Disney has mostly been medicore with the occassional great Episode sparsely thrown in now and then. To his credit, I particulary enjoyed the Dooku episodes in tales the most, especially the 3rd one. That said... they weren't exactly ambitious. The Ahsoka episodes on the other hand were entirely unneccessary and did little to build on her character. Moreover, the final Episode did even more damage to the reputation of the Inquisitors. I get that she would have won due to training under Vader, but still... That easily? Come on... They really banked on that "YUS QUEEN" moment and it fell utterly flat for me. What does she achieve in a duel against an equal, only to kill them within 6 seconds? It would have been far more rewarding had the Inquisitor at least put up a fight, with Ahsoka being genuinely challenged. Her victory would have felt much more earned, as she used Anakins teachings to eventually best the Inquisitor. What frustrates me the most here is that much like the First Order and the Knights of Ren, the Inquistors potential for being a genuine threat and a worthy adversary is utterly squandered. The idea behind the Empire having Jedi hunters, skilled in the art of Lightsaber combat and trained to use the Dark Side of the force under Darth Vader is fantastic! But in everything that Filoni has worked on, the Inquisitors have been utterly useless. They've gone from being inept Jedi hunters who couldn't kill some untrained Youngling and a half trained Padawan learner, to just being insta killed. Respawn handled the Inquisitors with so much more care and respect in Fallen Order, yet it was limited to just two of them. The rest in both Rebels and Kenobi were absolutely worthless beyond being edgy, only to do nothing or fail miserably.
@hoemie2587

Why would Ahsoka struggle with inquisitors tho? Grand Inquisitor would make sense but the rest??? Vader poorly trained them all and used them to track down jedi. If they were weak insignificant ones cool they could handle them but when they couldn’t? Vader would use them to find them and step in. So they served their purpose they were never supposed to be a threat to a skilled Jedi. Ahsoka was literally trained for war of course inquisitors wouldn’t be able to put up a fight. Anakins training was far more brutal than any other Padawan at the time. I’ll give you that the inquisitors shouldn’t be struggling with Kanan and Ezra tho but there’s no way they give Ahsoka a hard time. Combat wise she was in a different league. Also your saying respawn gave the inquisitors more respect but not really. Cal was way younger than Ahsoka at the time he was around 13 during order 66 and Ahsoka was around 17 during that time. So of course he would struggle with the inquisitors lol also that was only in the first game where he struggles because he didn’t have training. After getting better training from Cordova and Cere and he fights the 9th sister again she ends up getting wrecked lmao that fight was a joke compared to her boss fight on Kashyyyk. Edit: also I’d like to add that I’m not a feloni meat rider tho my issues with him have more to do with how a lot of his work just never has any great writing. I have no issue with the direction his stories go but a lot of issues with how weak the dialogue is. Like Andor something he didn’t really have that much of an influence had phenomenal writing. There were so many powerful and memorable lines.

One problem I had with Tales of the Jedi (it is a stupid problem but still) was it screwed up obi wan's hair chronology. So in the clone wars movie obi wan has short hair like he does in the rest of the clone wars show. And then in the 5 episode (I think it is episode 5) we see obi wan with a mullet. But this is after the clone wars movie because Ahsoka is Anakin's Padawan already. So did obi wan have short hair for a bit, then grow it out, then shorten it again. I guess so. But yeah it's a small thing that confused me and kinda broke the obi wan hair chronology.

Hot take: I actually respect the vision of Dave Filloni moreso than any other Star wars director. Yes. Including George Lucas himself. Thats not to say George Lucas wasn't a visionary for giving us this entire franchise..but even he had to sweep some things under the rug like Jar Jar Binks, Star wars holiday special, and the special editions which were quote on quote "Made in his true vision." Dave Filloni brought new life to the prequels which were once universally hated by the entire fandom, much like Ahsoka herself in her early years. But Dave Filloni intentionally made faults for his characters to overcome to be the universally beloved characters they are now. As well as making Order 66 become the most tragic event in Star wars it is today. Star wars the clone wars was an absolute masterpiece on par with The Empire strikes back. Maybe Dave Filloni will make a few mistakes, but I believe a loyal fan would remain by his side just as they would have with George Lucas. If there's one man who can redeem the sequel trilogy..it's Dave Filloni.
