1. One striking thing that has happened post 2014 is that no one can dare call BJP a 'communal party'.. Pre 2014, this label was such a curse for them.. It was conviniently used by their allies to dump BJP whenever they found political gains for themselves elsewhere.. 2. Today, tables are turned.. 'Secular party' is the tag that is shunned by political parties and scorned by the electorate.. 3. Another remarkable thing that vanished from political discourse is 'Governmental corruption'.. Though, in India it is thought that it's presence or absence doesn't have great impact on winability of elections, Pre 2014, this was such a huge talking point in the build-up to the elections..

What happened in 2014 was Modi did a very good job of presenting himself as a reformed man and wanting to put his past of Gujarat behind him. Muslims such as myself were willing to believe him and were very tired of the corruption and misgovernance under UPA. Large sections of Muslims did not go out to vote in 2014. People don't remember but Modi steered clear of any Hindu-Muslim controversy in his first 2 years. Only after demonitisation did he start messing wth communal politics and even then he only mentioned Pakistan as a terrorist which Muslims of India by and large agree with although some Muslims like me saw through his lies. Even Pulwama was marketed as an anti-Pakistan movement. Our community was in denial. We believed that Modi was just doing this to win votes and after the election he would revert back to his development agenda. But after the election, we have seen the Ram Mandir judgement, NRC-CAA, Article 370 in Kashmir, Hijab Ban in Karnataka, bulldozing of Muslims homes and mosques, the reawakening of the Gyanvapi mosque issue and the subsequent Nupur Sharma blasphemy case. All this has woken up the Muslim community to the dangers of letting Modi remain in power. There are still some Muslims who think that Modi is not that bad but the 2024 election will wipe away all remaining doubt. After 2029 India will see the start of an all-out clash between the BJP and Muslims and the BJP will come to realise why the "Hindu" party of the 1930's and 40's chose secularism instead of trying to finish off Muslims.

The hindus chose to make the rest of the country secular, even when they had an option to make it a Hindu country. Rss is the only organization which was there to protect Hindus in India after 1947. If Rss was not there, Hindus fear muslims would have made this country like Yemen, Lebanon etc... Until Modi came, every 3 months there was a bomb blast in a major city in India. To be very frank, there is only xinjiang style or saudi style oppression and mass execution to control terrorists and more than Modi, Yogi is handling it better. We dont want a country which already gave the fertile lands to muslims, in the name of 2 pakistan, now dividing again because some mullah thought so, like we see in yemen etc. We dont want our sisters to be sold like yazidi girls as sex slaves. We want muslims to understand that this is a country your forefathers chose to stay even after getting 2 pakistan. Hindus never threw you out in the name of humanity and brotherhood and that should not be considered as a Hindu weakness. The problem that Hindus hate with Rss/Modi is the fear of a saffron Taliban arising and dictating their beliefs on aetheists Hindus etc. We want a liberal India which gives space for every idea.

No wonder with leadership like this no small club can survive.However the analysis that if 2004 has not happened, situations would gave been different is a bit overwhelming, in my opinion, Congress started to decline during the time of Indira when the party lost the culture of meritocracy and drifted away from organizational issues.
