Then actual move starts with a dead hang, then you pull your sternum toward the bar (may help to dangle the legs behind). You can actually get a rolling effect through your back. Vertical to almost horizontal with all the movement that implies.

Neutral grip pull up is the easier for me and I love it because of biceps involved. Alternative is that I can also do the chin ups, inverted rows( neutral/or supinated), same thing with pulldowns too. The overhand aka pronated grip pull up especially wide works the upper back and difficult. ZERO EXCUSES!!!

I think everyones. body type / anatomy / form would be the determining factor to what muscles are primarily used.
