71 years old and still enjoy lifting weights! Currently doing the classic push-pull-legs routine with at least a day of rest in-between. Learned a ton from Starting Strength. Get Rippetoe's books!

Id been lifting weights for decades but starting strength really saved me from myself once i got into my 30s and saw my gains begin to drop off. I didnt understand why my (frankly insane) self-designed programs were no longer producing results. I was getting steadily weaker and the injuries began to accumulate the more i tried to fight against my declining strength. SS was exactly the reset and reality check i needed. Im still not as strong as i was at 28 but thats ok. Im healthy, my joints feel good, and im making long-term steady gains again. Big thanks to all at SS.

Hey buddy, keep at it! I'm maybe an age class below you in powerlifting and a weight class or two higher, (I'm M2a, 125kg) and I agree 110% that showing up is winning at this stage in my hobby career as a competitive powerlifter.

Strength training is no more the exercise for longevity then endurance training is. They sit on opposite ends of the strength and conditioning continuum. The best exercise for longevity is in the middle of the continuum.

Idk man, the Japanese seem to live over 100 regularly and they don’t really prioritize strength and size. Seems like they just walk a lot and eat clean and in moderate amounts.

You are? Where do you get yours. I think my levels are low. Considering some men in their 80s have level of 800ng/dL I think a healthy male should be well north of 500. But what do I know? I’m a youtube commenter…like you.
