I've been experiencing that with my channel. I'm actually considering deleting the few shorts I've posted. I break subs into two categories: "watching subscribers" and "non-watching subscribers." You don't want to accumulate too many non-watching subs because that reduces the click though rate of your newest videos, which may in turn cause KZbin to not recommend them to others. You see, if you swipe past a video in your feed, KZbin counts it against the video. So if there's a channel you are subbed to, and you routinely swipe past videos posted from that channel, you are hurting their ability to reach new audiences. 99% of subs on my channel are from non-watchers. It's because it's a how-to channel, so my viewers use the subscriber button as a tip jar, essentially. If my tutorial helped them do something, they will sometimes sub as a "reward" for me. However, they don't watch new tutorials as I post them, because it's likely about something they have no use for, or already know about. As a result, my new postings land with a thud, and it takes months for them to gain an audience, if they gain one at all. I recommend you only sub to channels that you are going to watch. The only exception would be if the channel is below 1,000 subs. Your sub will bring them closer to monetization.

This comment makes A LOT of sense! I looked at your channel and I think you have a great thing going! Have you ever thought about making followup videos to your how to videos. Example : what if you took your video "How to create your own QR Code Easily and for Free" and made a video on "How QR codes work" or something like that! I find that people like to know HOW things work, how they were created as well as how to use them! I'm not sure if you have ever seen "DIY PERKS" but his channel is based on him building things and also explaining how they work. It was just a thought! I wish you nothing but the best! Keep up the great work! 👍🏾

I’ve found having subscribers can negatively impact videos you make on a slightly different topic. They see the video but don’t click, your click through rate decreases, which tells KZbin to not bother in promoting it to other people. Of course more positives overall though!

With that being said, I believe it's VERY important for us creators to create some type of service or funnel that can CAPTURE our subscribers so that we can set up other revenue generating mechanisms OUTSIDE of KZbin. With all the work, research, tips and tricks that we are implementing from channels like this, it makes sense NOT to have all of our eggs in ONE basket! I was chasing subscribers until a respected supplier asked me if I would like to review their products. I asked why they had approached me. Was it my 5,000 subscribers? Their marketing director told me that the number of subscribers is of no interest - what attracted them was the number of views and viewer engagement. I make it a policy to answer every commenter, even if it’s only a like. This makes many feel like I am a friend and they comment on most of my content. Some videos get half the views of others, but I still make the less well performing content as a) I enjoy making it and b) a loyal contingent of viewers like it.

I haven't even asked to 'like and subscribe' in months and I get more subscribers and consistent likes than ever. I still have a lot of work to do on my channel, and it's not optimized because I am just drained working 2 jobs (Data Analyst and KZbin). Also many telling me just keep doing what I am doing and I have a good system now so trying not to force change where not needed. I agree with all the different subscriber types and the one I am aiming for is basically the 'dedicated fan'. They sub without you asking and start leaving likes and comments frequently. I've seen a pretty significant boost in subscribers twice in the time I've been on KZbin. Both of those times, it was from a single successful video. And both of those times, almost none of them came back to watch other videos I put out, even ones that came afterwards. Also both of these times, I've seen a significant drop in average views on my channel after these subs were generated, probably due to subs that don't watch new videos negatively affecting me in the algorithm and it took a lot of time and uploads to get back on track with where I was before - only for a new video to take off and the cycle repeating. Of course, I'm not saying I'm not grateful for these subs or that this is not my fault - it is, I could obviously niche down on where the subs came from and would probably see them coming back a lot more. But that's not what my channel is about, and I want to see my vision through. I personally think that KZbin should give channels a way to purge dead subs (i.e. set custom factors as to when a sub should be automatically terminated, with maybe a notification for the user so they have some agency over if they want to stay subbed or not).

I don't worry about how many subscribers my channel gets as you can see by how little my channel has, I use youtube as a creative outlet for my passion of biking. I just post for fun because I'm not best video editor

Looks like I'm doing okay! My returning viewers are higher than my sub count (which means I have people unsubscribed that are still watching) but also 40 percent of watchers are subscribed! I think that's a good thing, would love to hear feedback...

To be honest I am not focused on subscribers or views. I started with KZbin because I want to share my hobby and passion with others. Of course - if I get views/subs it's great - but it is not my main focus.

One of the most important videos I would say. I run a channel which got monetized back in February. Because my topic is travel vlogs and we changed the location (country) my views dropped really bad. So now my new videos got promoted to people who don‘t care that much about the other countries and I‘m struggeling to find a new audience which will follow me independet on the country I‘m visiting. Getting monetized just to be it and not earning almost nothing is not fun, believe me.

I’ve been posting a short every day for a little bit more than a month now and I have seen quite good results. My longer form content is doing okay also but the amount of time that it takes to create my long form content for the return is very annoying, I spend hours writing scripts, recording voice over, and editing, then I’m not sure if it will get 30 views or 1000 views.
@milangaming180 Жыл бұрын
One thing to say Vidiq: Subs can give your viewers trust if you have 100k then sometimes viewers are more likely to click or watch longer and That’s annoying! Please make video about recon and research how you do it!

Very true, I think people trust a channel with a high sub count more than a channel with a low sub count.

Should I restart my channel or continue on this channel? Problem: I have 2-3 long form videos that went somewhat viral at the end of 2021 and some shorts videos and the most subs came from that. I think I have about 200+ inactive subs.

Genuine question. Let's say I want to give some random people a shout out on my next video if they subscribe, like and comment. Is that still against ToS? Cause they get no material value and if they don't care for my channel they wouldn't also care for my shout out. Or what do you think?

Some of these things apply only for larger channels since I feel that people are much less likely to sub if the channel is small :/
@RealQuietOne Жыл бұрын
I think that if they enjoy your content, upload at least once a week (or once in a while, anyway, enough to keep their interest), interact with commenters, they'll sub. 😊

There is one thing that kills my mind. Typically, if a larger channel, example Mr.Beast, were to do some kind of review, like an "authentic" Chinese restaurant, give it good marks, they would be treated as someone with more credibility. Then a small no name channel goes out to the same restaurant, reviews it, gives it negative marks, points out it's not really authentic Chinese food, we would most likely burn them at the stake. Being small, they have less credibility and can't be trusted, but the small channel was a real Chinese person that cooked and ate authentic Chinese food. This can go for just about anything where "influencers" exist, it's there job to push people to a product. I had a fit over Donut Media doing a few cars that way, talking like they knew the cars when they never actually owned or driven some. I had a '01 Honda Prelude Type SH with ATTS, and Donut Media covered the Prelude, but they butchered it super bad and they missed the fact that the Type SH and Type S exists and the key differences from the base models. It was like saying a Honda Civic Type R does not exist, also, if it did, it's no different from the base model.

May I ask, what are your thoughts on using the option to publish to subscribers? I have never used it before, I used it on a series video today and my CTR has dropped significantly as has my views... it is such a difference from the normal stats on my series that I can't help but feel this may be linked. Does using the option affect the way the video is published to the public in general?
@caseyPB2 Жыл бұрын
that's why i just never even ask people to subscribe, that's why if they do it, it's completely of their own volition

I’m steadily growing my channel with the aim to have engaging viewers who appreciate my content. Getting monetized is the goal as well. It’s a slow process however I enjoy the journey Cheers ✌🏾
