Actually, this is currently the #1 selling game. I read an article this week that said its sales have already surpassed Tears of the Kingdom. Mind blown!!! It doesn't make sense to me, since people slept on how good the original Mario RPG was for several years. Back in the day, I got ridiculed for being a turn-based RPG fan; only "nerds" played those games. At last, I have my vengeance! The remake is already far more popular than I ever anticipated - since the original is in my top 5 fave games of all time, I am over the moon.

Super Mario RPG holds a special place in my heart. I got the game as a kid all the way back in the 90's. My friend and I would take turns playing it. We were so into it, we would even LARP as the characters. I remember when we finally beat the game, we had such a sense of accomplishment. Those were simpler days. Better days. I miss those days.

Hope it has a Bestiary, known as the Bad Beasty Notebook. It tells everything about the Enemies, Starting with Goombas & ending with Smithy. Goomba: A enemy who just is a Runt of bowser's army, just bop their heads to give them a major case of a Headache!

It is the undeniable best out of them all. I love the original Mario & Luigi, and I love the first two Paper Mario's, but they don't hold a candle to Mario RPG

I have no doubt that you will love this remake. I prefer it over the other types of Mario RPGs by a long shot. It truly is an old school JRPG, but it retains the personality of the Mario characters and sprinkles in plenty of Easter eggs and humor throughout. I only wish that the game was longer and that the maximum level was higher than level 30 - probably my only complaints about the OG.

Super Mario RPG is one of two games (Skies of Arcadia is the other) I beat yearly for the sake of it being nostalgia/childhood memories, but also because it's such an amazing game. I had no idea there were leaks or rumors of it getting a remake until I watched the Nintendo Direct with my S/O. I was shaking, jumping on the couch, just literal emotions flying! I'm doing another play through right now!

Thanks for sharing, I love the enthusiasm! My boyfriend showed me the trailer for this game while I was working from home and between calls. Had I not been in the "work mode" mindset, I would have had a proper freak out. Before I went to bed, I watched reactions to the game on KZbin for a good hour and had a good joyful cry. I hadn't heard a peep about a possible remake. This remake was on my bucket list of wishes that were too far-fetched to ever come true. Didn't think this game was popular enough for a remake or that Nintendo would ever be able to obtain the rights to see a remake....all of this, PLUS to stay true to the original aesthetic and combat style of the original game. I still can't believe it's happening!

I don't think younger gamers understand how mechanically dull Paper Mario 64 was next to Super Mario RPG. I'm really hoping this revives the series and allows for future games with not only better combat mechanics, but also that we will see Mallow and Geno in official Nintendo Canon now.

Super Mario Rpg is such a special and important game because it was many peoples first introduction to JRPGS. Yes FF was around before this but it was still rather niche in the west. Mario is the most recognizable and iconic video game character by a LANDSLIDE. So when super mario rpg came out it caused people to go “hmm what’s this?” simply because it’s Mario. Hopefully this remake does well enough that it cause Nintendo to realize there is still a market for Mario rpgs.

I have a few things I wish they would have added to the original: 1) Multiple difficulty settings 2) Ability to refight bosses 3) Post Game Content after you fight Smithy (even though it breaks continuity of the game. Won't spoil for those whom haven't played/seen gameplay of it yet over the last 20+ yrs... somehow... XD) 4) Secret Characters for more party customization. I know Luigi was suppose to be among them, but would love to be able to access/play as a few other characters within the story as well. and while I love the original setup for it's battle mechanics, I can't help but wonder how an ability/stat tree would do for individual characters. I know it has a limited version of this with the level up stat boost, but it'd be interesting to expand upon it for new attacks. That being said, I love the original game. One of my childhood favorites that still holds up to this day, and am just glad to see this game get a remake. Picking it up day 1, 11/17/2023. Oh, and Geno & Mallow for Smash!

OK SO, every Nintendo Direct I was hoping for a Remake of Mario RPG, I search online and seeing Lies of different Mario RPG Remakes, then I think I read somewhere saying the Person that made Mario RPG wanted to make a Sequel or revamp the Original Version so at that Point I got excited again, not sure when it will be but I knew it was coming... now we getting a Remake and so THRILLED and HAPPY about it... now not sure if the guy is still making a Sequel or not but Im glad we are getting this in November... Never played the Mario Luigi or any of the Paper Mario's because just didnt have the same feeling liek in Mario RPG: Legends of the Seven Stars c:

This remake is also important because it may be the starting point for Paper Mario 64 and TTYD remakes since Paper Mario 64 initially started as Super Mario RPG 2.

Even though the chances of Paper Mario and Paper Mario: TTYD remakes happening are very slim, at least Nintendo is continuing to prove its possible to port GameCube games onto the Switch by releasing the remakes of Pikmin 1&2.

@@vanderquakSP Yes, it is just as you said, and I would like to add something: Even if Nintendo attempts to do such a thing, Miyamoto and Kensuke Tanabe (Creator of the Paper Mario games since Sticker Star) might oppose it and instead start to create a new game. The situation is dire for us, though not as dire as the Mario and Luigi fans' situation. I hope both communities get their remakes soon.

Man… I waited for years for a *TRUE* sequel to Super Mario RPG ‐.‐ Praying and wondering why the hell they wouldn't bother with an actual sequel to Legend of the Seven Stars, it wasn't until years later that I'd learn about Nintendo and Square's falling out. While I enjoyed the first couple of Paper Mario games, I just knew that I *couldn't* be the only one who was dying for the return of Mallow, Geno, Frogfucius, Booster - and all the other zany characters from that 1996 [cult?] classic. But within a couple of years of the Nintendo 64's release, I'd all but given up any hope of seeing all my childhood dreams come to fruition… It's a shame that it's taken over 25 years to see anything *even CLOSE* to that come about, but hey - better late than never! And yes, I realize that this doesn't *necessarily* promise any such future release; however, *if* the game sells well enough, then it does at least bring me - bring all of us *that much* closer to realizing that goal ^^ …Now I just hope that I survive long enough to actually get to see it happen xÞ

Origami King is great in terms of everything, but that battle system??? Just like SPM (Super Paper Mario) I think it was not a Paper Mario styled game in terms of battle mechanics. Btw bosses are SO BAD, Vellumentals are extremely boring concepts and so basic. And besides, you literally fight against a CRAYON and a SCISSORS! In Paper Mario TTYD/64, we have character build-ups for the bosses, and they are legit interesting, you can check the bosses if you want since they will take a long time to explain, but you can google "Huff N Puff", or "General Guy",, and especially "Doopliss" and "Koopa Bros". Partners are so less, even though it has one of the best partners (Bob-Ob from PMOK is legit good), there are no proper partners other than that. Apart from those, in Origami King, there are some creative bosses like the Thunder Bros, but nothing else. King Olly fight is definitaly GOATED and many areas are more interesting, but that battle system is so repetitive that just ruins everything in my opinion + Origami King is not as goofy as TTYD or 64. Still, your opinion. Newer fans seemingly like that battle mechanic.
